X Factor: It’s between Paula, Cheryl, and Jessica.

Simon Cowell has whittled down his final picks for the X Factor US, spilling the tea to this week’s People magazine on just who might secure the coveted spot on the judging panel.

“Paula Abdul. She has good taste in music, though you didn’t always see that on TV. I also like Jessica Simpson. She knows what she’s talking about; she’s very into the mentoring side and is underrated as a singer. I think Cheryl Cole’s personality would translate in America…”

So it’s Jessica Simpson, Cheryl Cole, and Paula Abdul. But wait — Simon hasn’t completely forgotten all about Mariah Carey just yet.

“After Mariah Carey has her babies, there might be a role for her during the live shows,” he added.

Mimi’s hubby Nick Cannon elaborated a little more on what Cowell meant, revealing on his radio show that Mariah wanted in on the X Factor, but is too busy preparing to give birth and working on her new album to find the time right now. But, she’s still keen on being involved in the show, so they’re trying to work something out for her.

My vote goes to Jessica Simpson: Newlyweds made her a reality TV legend next to The Osbourne’s and Kim Kardashian, and her tabloidy popularity in the celebrity world makes her a perfect fit for a glitzy machine like X Factor. Plus, her ‘vibrant’ personality should also make for good viewing, setting her up as the new version of the cuckoo crazy Paula Abdul.

Paula had her time, and Cheryl Cole is just a no — in America, at least. And Nicole Scherzinger is way too boring for TV, so I’m not surprised her name has now been left out of discussions. It’s gotta be Jessica, unless they wanna book Khia for some real talk!

    Jessica is even more IRRELEVANT in music than Paula and Cheryl. AND THAT’S SAYING A LOT. He needs to put Paula and Cheryl in the show, as well as a fourth judge with more star power than LA Reid.

    Jessica is great if you want some cute (dumb) blonde to entertain you.

    Honestly, a celebrity like Jessica Simpson is perfect for X Factor coz X Factor isn’t really about talent, it’s more about drama and entertainment.

    The Voice seems more talent focused, and American Idol is the right combo of true talent and star power (so many talented contestants this season).

    Khia!! Some contestants could do with some of Khia’s sermons. You couldnt even buy that level of entertainment anywhere. Those contestants wouldnt know what hit them… Most likely Khia’s fist.

    Out of the three choices, I vote Jessica.

    Dont know why but have feeling Missy Elliott is going to be on it.

    Please no Jessica she so boring, I dont appreciate people who made a career out of themselves by acting dumb. People remember her “Is this chicken or fish?” comment more than her music.

    As for Paula it would be a total diss to Randy Jackson is Simon hires Paula and not him. I think he should leave anything from American Idol behind.

    & Cheryl well….who is she? Shes a nobody in America. Stay in the UK where u are appreciated.

    For a female judge I’d rather have Nicole Sherzinger even though I don’t like her too much. I think she can do an amazing job

    on the panel..everyone that interviews her loves her…she’s, funny, feisty and knows her stuff…Why not Jessica and Paula on the panel..Cheryl as Simon’s sidekick, if he has to have her, and Nicole as the host…sounds good to me!

    I feel like Paula would be a bad choice. It would get ratings, but aside from that I don’t want the X Factor turning into American Idol v 2.0.

    Jessica always has some drama. She is so entertaining.
    I agree she is perfect for this. An alrounder. Some experience in the industry as well as having bundles of personality.
    I also agree that she is not a dumb as people think. She’d be good.

    I would love to see Jessica. She is NOT dumb, she has shown us that a 1000 times by now. she keeps on not editing herself and that is what makes her have the x-factor. whatever she says is picked and published by the tabs. if they want some publicity use Jessica. Plus, I do believe she is very caring and loving and would be a great mentor. she knows a lot of huge singers and songs that aren’t the usually top 40. she could surprise us all.
