Rihanna‘s Talk That Talk hasn’t been able to produce a viable hit outside of “We Found Love”, so Def Jam have finally cut to the chase and really started pushing “Where Have You Been”, aka “We Found Love Part II”, in the hope of making Talk That Talk more than just a one-song-wonder.
RiRi means serious business with “Where Have You Been” — homegirl even put down the ganja for five minutes and learned a dance routine for the music video. RiRi brought the choreography to life last night –pussy patting and all– as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live, where she performed the Calvin Harris jam and two other tunes from Talk That Talk.
Rihanna isn’t exactly the hottest ticket in town when it comes to performers, but I’m loving this new and improved side of her. The Bajan beauty has more X Factor in her forehead than your faves do in their entire body, but her lethargic performances always held her back in the past. Now that she’s shimmying and shaking all around the place and utilizing her backing track in a way that doesn’t make our ears bleed, she looks pretty badass and isn’t quite the lazy whore that she used to be.
Hate all you want (yeah, I’m still over her too ever since she rubbed that “Birthday Cake” ish in our faces), but Rihanna looks much fiercer doing her “Where Have You Been” routine than Cheryl Cole’s ridiculous “Call My Name” choreography, Britney’s entire Femme Fatale era performances, and Katy Perry’s bizarre “Part of Me” aerobics routine all put together.
