Watch Kylie Minogue get inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame

The 2011 ARIA Awards — Australia’s version of the Grammy Awards — was on TV last night. I had no idea until I saw people tweeting about it, and it wasn’t until this morning that I learned that the divine Kylie Minogue had been inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
Watching the ARIAs is usually about as fun as watching an episode of Two and a Half Men (i.e. not very), and they generally tend to despise all types of commercial pop music, but due to Kween Kylie finally becoming a hall of famer, I thought I’d hit up Youtube to see what all the fuss was about.
As expected, Kylie Klinger Molly Meldrum was selected to do the introductory honors, nervously reading from a teleprompter about how he met Kylie on the defining Neighbours and how everybody thought that she’d just be a two-hit-wonder flop like Melissa Tkautz or Holly Valance.
A fabulous montage of Kylie’s stellar career then followed, highlighting all of the diva’s various image reinventions, previous ARIA wins, her sexy ass, and battle with cancer.
I thought that after all of that, it’d finally be time for Kylie to step out on stage and have her moment, but instead we got an even hotter diva, our glamorous Prime Minister Julia Gillard. After slaying the wolf-whistling crowd with her flawless beauty and impeccable public speaking skills, it was finally time for Dannii Kylie.
Hilariously, Kylie came out holding some enormous speech cards, rather than the more discreet ones that most stars usually keep nestled within the palm of their hand. She continually referred to them throughout her acceptance speech, and it was obvious that without them she’d be up on stage like a blow up doll, all open mouthed, wide eyed, and frozen with fear. It was incredibly cute, though. At times she looked like a school girl, stiff with nerves and reading out a speech to the class for an assignment, but it just went to show how much the award really meant to her.
Overall, the whole thing was very touching and sweet, and it’s only right that Kylie finally be inducted into Australia’s musical hall of fame after everything that she’s done for the country.
Now, where’s Dannii’s award? *Puts on Neon Nights*
