[Ugh] Nicki Minaj’s ‘Roman Reloaded’ is a resounding success

As much as it pains me to acknowledge this, the truth must be brought into the light. Nicki Minaj‘s Roman Reloaded album is a huge fucking hit!

The talentless sack of silicone is on course to score her second consecutive No. 1 album in the US, with Roman Reloaded headed straight to the top with sales of around 200k-225k. The album’s also set to top the UK charts too, proving that Nicki’s got a considerable fanbase outside of the United States now.

On top of the album sales, “Starships” (otherwise known as the worst single of 2012) is a certified smash. It’s already Platinum in the States, has reached No. 2 in the UK and Australia, and the top 10 in France and other parts of Europe.

The success certainly won’t be lost on Nicki, who boasted earlier this week about how Roman Reloaded will surpass the sales of the two-million selling Pink Friday when questioned about the sophomore slump during an interview.

“Hell no! This album is gonna sell so much more than Pink Friday,” she said. “Ask me this question two years from today, Clue. With me, I’m never about first week and all that. I like to look at it for the long haul. I’ma travel, I’ma meet my beautiful babies, my Barbz everywhere, and this is my first time I’m gonna get to do a world tour, so the album is gonna do its thang.”

Well, at least she didn’t refer to herself in third person there, which is one thing Nicki loves to do. All the time. All the time.

    well, after downloading the album yesterday i must say that i was kinda impressed by the lack of ghetto rap songs. this album reminds me of the female version of Flo-Rida (the worst rapper in history) tho Nicki got some swag

    That Salon work experience intern did not call her the greatest rapper in the world. They obviously don’t listen to any hip-hop. She’s not even one of the best female rappers in the world, let alone male.

    Yoon Mirae (Tasha), Missy Elliott, Brianna Perry, Miryo, Remy Ma, they are talented female rappers.

    People can stan for her for whatever reason but saying things like she’s an amazing rapper, let alone best in the world, is sooooooo absurd and ignorant. It’s like Britney stans who say she sings live and slays choreography.

    I just don’t get it. I DON’T UNDERSTAND. How can people still like her? I’ll admit that “Itty Bitty Piggy” and “Massive Attack” were my jams when they were both released, but her new “music” is absolute crap. It’s all a fucking gimmick, and the worst part is that people actually eat it up. How people can still care about Nicki when the likes of Azealia Banks and Iggy Azalea are rising in the female hip-hop scene is beyond me.

    i’m begrudgingly downloading the album right now. just out of boredomand i like starships! it’s really catchy. i hate her rapping on it though. i don’t get why she insists on sounding like she’s missing a chromosome when she raps.

    This is not about first week sales anymore. The fact that she sells singles and albums outside of the US shows that Nicki actually has a hit album. And she has a lot of songs on the album that have hit potential…in the US and Europe. So u can call that album a hit. 200k are not enormeous but i think RR will outsell PF though

    I’m not a hater and very proud of her success but a number 1 album does not equate longevity.  Ask me 3-5 years from now will she have such a remembrance in pop or the hip hop culture like Lauryn Hill or Missy Elliot, then I will give her kudos.  She is kind of like how 50 cent was at the height of his popularity, the only thing is that he made smart business investments.  Endorsements and these fly by night clothing lines only last so long, especially when you don’t really have a sense of style.  You want you albums to be remembered as classics, but sadly I don’t think in PF:RR will make that type of mark.  Once she finds her true self and stop appealing to what hot right now, the better artist she will be.  Can we say humility?  Just saying and not bashing her at all.

    it’s not completely fair to base her whole talent as a rapper off of one freestyle attempt. some rappers are just NOT freestylers. and some that arent very well at freestyling do well at certain times and fall flat on their faces at others. you just never know… some have to WRITE on paper and thats nicki.

    at the end of the day, we must remember that the reason she does all the this crappy gimmicks and tracks is that she doesn’t get much money when she makes quality end products and she couldn’t be that person all the time.

    I have a hard time believing its selling so much. I still think record labels of certain artists like Gaga, Katy Perry, and Beyonce purchase at least 100k+ of their albums on the first week and give them for free over time. #TaxWriteOff

    The album isn’t THAT bad. Disposable as hell. But it does have some good tracks. It’s far too long though and the latter half of it all sounds the fucking same. Did we REALLY need 14 tracks of what are essentially lazy “Starship” remixes?

    If she’d picked 5 of the best pop jams and tracklisted them so that they are woven into the rap joints and not so clearly divided, the album wouldn’t have been better off. Because with such a clear divide between the two styles and SO many tracks, a lot gets lost.

    The rap joints go hard though. “Beez in the trap” and “Come on a cone” are bangers. And “Champion” is nice. And as for the pop shizzle, I do rather like “Beautiful sinner”. It’s a nice switch of gears for Alex da Kid. Never would have expected that production style from him.

    I am the type of pop music fanatic that really loves it all.  It’s a really good album if you take it for what it is and not expect a pop-masterpiece.

    That was BTW, but a lot of y’all didn’t think that either.

    Oh well, she will have quite a few hits from this album.  Va Va Voom and Marilyn Monroe will do their duty.  Maybe even one of the club songs could do some more business.  I think Starships is the weakest of the club songs, but it is the most happy and light-hearted, that’s why it was the first single.

    Haters gonna hate.  But it’s so much easier to love, and you get more out of it!!!
