The Saturdays aim for American takeover with E! reality series, continue to be irrelevant and basic

Now that Girls Aloud is back in business, their incompetent seat fillers The Saturdays have been left with no other choice than to flee Europe to try and restart their career in the States. Someone in the group’s camp must give one helluva rimjob because the girls have somehow inked a deal to launch their own reality series on E! called Chasing The Saturdays, which is set to premiere in January.

You can check out a preview of their first US single “What About Us” featuring Sean Paul below. It’s an innocuous slice of unimaginative radio fodder that sounds exactly like the female version of The Wanted, which is exactly what The Saturdays is.

Yawn.

Sadly, chances are that this will probably become a hit. The Sats have already racked up some major connections in the States, signing to Island Def Jam, landing the E! series, and becoming butt buddies with Perez Hilton. The only possible explanation for all of this is that Hurricane Sandy has blown away the taste and braincells of every single American working in the entertainment industry.

This is not good people. This is not good.

Chasing The Saturdays premieres Sunday, January 20th.

Proph, I love your blog, and in most cases I have the same opinion as you, but I will never forgive you for not liking the Saturdays. they are amazing girls, and have really good pop, dance songs. All Fired Up is my anthem!!!

    *waits for MKS*

I still think that One Shot (7th Heaven Radio Mix) is like, the best song, ever.

  • Mark S.

Girls Aloud never wanted to come to the US. So, I keep myself warm at night, thinking that if GA did want to break the states, the American labels would have warred over who signed them. As this delusion becomes less and less plausible and I come to terms with the crap taste of the middle aged men who tart up girls to sing and dance for pleasure, life gets cold. Wait, we were talking about The Saturdays?

  • http://twitter.com/EddieLeggett Ed Leggett

Basic? umm have you seen your blog layout?

  • DiegoZicoB

    Omg I lol’ed

  • http://twitter.com/elderbatty Polyester Poontang

Ugh, they’re so basic. Who’s “chasing” the Saturdays anyway?

  • theprophetblog

All Fired Up is like their only amazing song

  • theprophetblog

It’s clearly not basic enough to stop you and thousands of other people from coming here every day.

If you don’t like it why don’t you go somewhere where somebody actually gives a shit about what you have to say?

another cheap ass video from those hags

I just can’t hear “Perez” anymore… really annoying and fake guy. They have two or three years before he turns on them like they’re the devil.

  • TheSaturdaysFan

Okay, first off they are not basic… well not just because you hate 98% of their stuff, that doesnt mean they are basic… if you really heard all of their stuff, you will not say that. They are actually far from basic… they tried pop, dance pop, synth pop, euro pop, trance, rock, pop rock and some stuff other UK girl groups havent tried. Well maybe I’m defending them because they’re the very first GIRL GROUP that I fell in-loved and stanned… yeah even before I loved kpop.

They might be irrelevant atm coz Girls Aloud are back (they’re the leaders of the pack, I agree) and because The Sats are cooking up something for us fans and US people :)

I wish them all the best and hope for their success coz they deserved it! And I wish they would get more success than The Wanted.

  • Synchorotical

gurl that video is their Notorious video xDDDD LOLZA

  • BTHE1983

all I know is i WANT A RIMJOB now!! :( gosh proph, why did you need to bring THAT up!!

  • Marko DaKing

don’t be like that. they have other great songs such as Puppet, Move on U and Get Ready, Get Set. I really think they deserve to be successful.

  • http://www.facebook.com/lalo.delkastillo Lalo del Kastillo

yeah just wait for MKS they are the ony relevant band
GA and TS are just shitty music

  • http://www.facebook.com/k.moorek.moore Kevin Moore

They have many amazing songs, you cant say all fired up is their only good one. Their biggest song ego is so catchy, Higher is simply one of their best. When you look at this group from start to finish you can see growth in every single one of them. They went from If this is love, which is an amazing pop song to now US radio frendly songs, which simply most UK groups cannot do. Girls Aloud still with their comback wouldnt be able to do.

  • http://twitter.com/FauxKingLuke Luke

They were irrelevant before Girls Alud came back… I don’t even know how they still have a record deal when their album sales are so low…

  • http://twitter.com/FauxKingLuke Luke

I haven’t paid attention to irrlevantez since like 5 years ago…

  • http://twitter.com/FauxKingLuke Luke

LOL I doubt that’s true… Cheryl is blatently desperate to crack the US so I doubt that’s recent, Maybe they just gave up on it after their attempt at cracking Australia (who give out Gold albums like confetti) failed… I mean, They aren’t even big in Europe like the Sugababes were during 2.0. I do like them, I’m just saying.

  • http://twitter.com/FauxKingLuke Luke

I like the layout lol, It’s more welcoming than the shit over at that flop juice who have had that shitty Janet interview in pride of place for like 2 years lol

  • Blah

    ew.

  • http://twitter.com/tupey69 Michael Taualupe

MKS will be the superior comeback lets be real. However the boy bands we have now is far more basic than any girl group right now.

  • WTF

Up is amazing! and Notorious is pretty epic too

  • http://twitter.com/TheProphetBlog The Prophet

I’m dead at you thinking they tried all those genres…

  • http://twitter.com/EddieLeggett Ed Leggett

just saying that basic does not equal bad…

  • LoLoose

Proph just keeping on hating The Sats, the girls deserve a break

  • http://twitter.com/FauxKingLuke Luke

dislike the comment IDC… Their last album hasn’t even been certified Silver lol

  • vjx89

Love these girls!!!!!! Can’t understand the hate. THey’re not original, but are beautiful and funny.

  • animasaurus

I love them! Except Mollie who tries a bit too hard imho (probably because girl has no talent so she has to stand out somehow)…

It’s a shame that they are debuting with such a shitty song though when their earlier stuff was SO much better than this.

  • SerferTJ

Whatever, I like the song and I like the Saturdays. They just seem like really nice girls, have a nice, basic, family friendly image, and can really sing. And they’re pretty hot.

Hopefully they do well in the US, even if only to encourage The Dolly Rockers to FINALLY start their US take-over! ^_^

  • cuntley

And that’s because it was produced by Xenomania.

  • cuntley

DEAD. I’m sure this song will burn up the billboard top 350 dance songs.

  • Rihanna

    what’s an MKS?

  • theprophetblog

It does in The Saturday’s case!

  • theprophetblog

Lmao their last album didn’t even go top 20

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_YN4GHCMAO22DHQEZAH6ZDVZ6YQ Blinkx

Their music kind of does remind me of The Wanted. Do they have the same manager/producer in the U.K. perhaps?

  • http://twitter.com/SommerBu Sommer

What’s with these girls looking like 27 with their makeup trying to be girl groups? I’ve been lost in K-pop too long I guess.
