Taylor Swift unveils ‘Red’ album and premieres new single “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”

Who else parked their ass in front of the computer today to catch Taylor Swift reeling off scripted answers to a bunch of prearranged fan questions live on Youtube? You can bet your wig that I did, so if you missed it, here’s the juice on Tay-Tay’s fiery return.

Taylor’s new album is titled Red and it drops October 22nd. The title represents the emotion she feels when guys screw her around and break her heart or something.

Red will have a whopping 16 tracks, and that’s without the bonuses. She’s co-written everything on this album, as opposed to being the sole songwriter like she was on 2010′s Speak Now, and she’s collaborated with a lot of interesting people–including the godawful Ed Shereen, who she duets with on one of the tracks. Don’t worry though, because she’s also worked with Max Martin!

Yup, Max Martin and Taylor Swift, together at last. If any of you know the song Max produced for Carrie Underwood a few years back called “Quitter”, then you know that this collaboration will most likely be free of all flaws.

Taylor’s new single is titled “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”, and it hits iTunes tonight. She premiered the audio for it during the chat, and it confirms that the previous rumors I posted were correct–it’s total pop. Super catchy and super radio-friendly too, but the lack of country flavor will definitely disappoint some people.

I’m so so happy that Taylor’s back. This is gonna smash so hard.

  • The Music Messiah

This shit is going to be everywhere! I love Pop Swift! It sounds a bit different and much catchier than her previous things.

Carly better hid her wig because Taylor is coming for her pop crown!

  • Um

Ahh why the Ed Sheeran hate :( Anyway, can’t wait for some new Tay-Tay!

  • Adam Rysio

Taylor and Max!!! Can’t wait. I hope her singles will already have a pop sound and not have to be remixed for the radio. I never understood why her team did that. Why release songs in a different version as singles only to have the fans buy the album and become disappointed with their favorite single’s twangy counterpart.

Sounds good. Kind of reminds me of that Chiddy Bang song, Mind Your Manners.

I don’t mind it am sure will be many teens tweens anthems! To me its Avril Lavigne with talking in it!

  • TLo

I believe this will her first number one single. It has Call Me Maybe realness in some ways.

  • TLo

I have just downloaded the official version, and it screams Avril so much! Avril please drop your new song asap, I’m dying here!!!!!!!

    best track ever.
it’s very pop and kinda indie, with elements of country and even electro – all of contemporary music’s best. impossible not to love.

everytime he does a song with some girl that has a mediocre voice it ends up sounding like an avril lavigne song.

  • KingBeaArthur

Echoing the Avril comparisons. Where the hell is she?? I miss her.

I already downloaded the song: is written by Taylor Swift, Max Martin & Shellback :D !!

Im not completely sure of how I feel towards this song not having some country twist at all, but so far I love it. Its Tay Tay afterall. Tho it reminds me a LOT of Maroon 5′s “one more night”.

Let the Tay Tay domination begin!!!!!

  • Synchorotical

Her voice is really getting better! And the chorus is really catchy.

BUT yeah I imagine Avril Lavigne slaying this record more.

First T-Swift song I’m gonna buy legally xDDDD

Can’t compare this with Carly because the vibe of the song is different, thought Tay Tay’s gonna go to that fun pop route.

Taylor Shit has never been country, so you won’t be any more disappointed.

  • Rachel

Reaching with that contradicting statement. Not you calling it indie just because the song lyrics mentions something ‘indie.’ It’s a good pop song though.

  • http://twitter.com/themusicprophet The Music Prophet

Way to pop for me… But I love Taylor so I’m over it!

  • Greg M

But on the real Proph, when has she ever been country? Her biggest smash You Belong With Me was straight POP with some banjos addded in the background :P

But who cares about a genre when the song’s as catchy as this?

  • Mike

    This song is perfection!

  • 123456789

It sounds like a bonus track that’s been ripped right off Ke$ha’s album ‘Animal’ and hammered together with an Avril Lavigne song during her ‘Girlfriend’ days.

  • Zach

Max Martin and Shellback produced “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” guys!

  • vjx89

Wow, this is soooo avril!! I would’ve thought it was her if i didn’t know it was taylor who was singing…

  • vjx89

i found it dated and boring. Let’s see if it grows on me as i listen to it more.

  • ibreathepop

This is SO good. Who need country, when you can have POP? http://ibreathepop.blogspot.de/2012/08/purer-pop-taylor-swifts-veroffentlicht.html

  • theprophetblog

She’s always been pop-country, not solely pop.

“The title represents the emotion she feels when guys screw her around and break her heart or something” hahahahaha priceless prophet hahahaha….oh wait? it wasn’t a joke…
