Taylor Swift premieres “Begin Again” music video from her flawless million-selling album ‘Red’

Fresh from news that she’s about to become the first female artist in Soundscan history to have a pair of albums sell more than a million copies in one week, Taylor Swift premiered the music video for the second single from her critically-acclaimed Red album, “Begin Again”.

The eternally scorned songstress floats through Paris in the heavenly visual, leaving a trail of magical stardust in her wake. She finds a new romance in the city of love, wears lots of chiffon and crimson lipstick, and quietly prepares to top the Billboard Country Songs chart for an extended period of time with this stunning ballad.

With Red No. 1 on iTunes across the world and first-week sales exceeding 1 million copies in the States, is it safe to say that Taylor Swift is now the biggest pop star in the world? Sorry Lady GaGa, Rihanna, Beyonce, Adele, and Katy Perry — y’all hoes have been replaced!

By the way, the “hoes” tag doesn’t apply to Adele or Katy Perry, because I like those two. But the rest of ‘em are big ol’ dirty SLUTS!

no surprise here. TayTay might seems like a depressed teenage girl that always gets her heartbroken and too dumb to learn from the past, but her songs connect with most people regardless of age. i mean, there are granny out there who literally go through the same thing TayTay go through. good for her. but seriously, if she break Godney’s record for the highest sale in 1 week by a female, I’mma cut some bitch.

  • Buzz

i dont care, i just love her album. period!

  • The Reign of TayTay

It’s time to take a hint. Adele, TayTay, even freakin’ Mumford and Sons have proved that euro influenced dance pop is not working as The Pop. Producers need to get back to being true musicians/composers and stop recycling already generic beats. Reign of Real Music biatches.

She looks amazing, hell she’s looked flawless this entire era.

  • Xxx

Don’t get the hype. Whether her music nor her voice is even that Great…
“Yeah, i fucked with every male celebrety out there, but they are so mean and broke my Heart.”

  • Gabe

she’s so overrated! cant she go away already. i mean legit tire. She is the most insincere person ever

  • Gabe

I don’t like this genre, BorePop.

  • Andi

Blah, blah, blah, who cares? She’s still the most boring thing to happen to music since James Blunt. And let’s be honest, all those hoes you mentioned are reductive compared to people like Fiona, Florence and Marina, who are excellent songwriters and vocalists, and to performers like Kylie and Shakira, who could outperform any of them bitches.

  • bobs

Come on, we need her to get to at least first base in a song or a video… It’s been a decade. If RiRi is a ho (she is) then this is the TOTAL opposite. I prefer those who stand in the middle, not afraid of sexuality and not shoving it down our throats. See Adele and Lana Del Rey.

  • papa john

so many jealous bitches up in this post, you wish you had touched jake g’s penis with your red lips like she did.

She is one pretty (and well singing) money machine. Much, much Taylor-love <3

So excited for her! Glad to see people in the states still have a brain!

  • DNNY

She deserves the 1 million + debut, and as for me I’d like to see her break the Britney record… records are meant to be broken people! :D

  • Guest

Biggest pop star in the world? And by “world” you mean “United States” considering that only a million or so copies sold from each of her albums comes from international territories. Not to mention 5.2 out of the 5.5 million copies of her debut album came from the US…

The difference is: we wouldn’t whine about it.

  • theprophetblog

LMAO don’t compare Taylor to fucking MARINA Perry. Taylor’s last album was written with zero co-writers and it was both a critical and commercial success. Taylor doesn’t need to reinvent herself as the Z-list Katy Perry like Marina to sell records.

Fiona is my favorite female artist of all time but you can’t really compare her to Taylor. Fiona and Taylor’s vocal and songwriting styles are completely different, and most of Fiona’s stuff is piano based whereas Taylor’s is acoustic.

As for Florence, she’s incredible and one of the best vocalists in the game right now, but she isn’t as good a songwriter as Taylor because she could not pen an entire album on her own without co-writers, or write as many huge hit pop songs (quality pop songs are actually the hardest to write) as Taylor has

  • theprophetblog

Red is no. 1 on iTunes across the world and she sold out stadiums internationally, which most of your faves except Pink and perhaps GaGa can do,

  • theprophetblog

Not everyone is a huge slut. Some people have CLASS, a rare thing in the American pop scene.

  • will

even though “RED” is still one of the best things to be released this year, she is actually downgrading herself working with max martin and doing pop. this album is more a question mark “where will she go from here?”. and let’s hope she settles far from pop, because we certainly do not need another machine bombing us with cheap trash pop like katy perry.

  • Zulu

How is Rihanna a ho when she’s only had two public boyfriends? :deadbanana:

:rip: at Lana standing in the middle. “Fuck you hard in the pouring rain,” “Looking to get fucked hard,” “Fuck yeah, give it to me,” “Touch myself and pretend you’re there.” Right.

You sound like one of those tired, through and DELAYED teenagers that think bussing your pussy open like Jessica Simpson (re: Bouncy) makes you grown.

    Have a seat, trash.

  • Mister Polo

“You know this video would be better with expensive cars, big tits and autotune…” said no one. Taylor’s offering what so many pop artists aren’t & outsells your faves. Kudos to her success.

Hey Proph! I’m still waiting for that Red review of yours! :D

By the way, am I the only one who thinks RED is based on Joni Mitchell’s BLUE album? I mean, just look at the art cover, the idea behind the album name as well. “The lucky one” is probably dedicated to her, I have read somewhere she’s about to play as Joni in a soon to come movie “Girls like us”.
«Blue, songs are like tatoos» Maybe this is where the song-lyrics-quotes-written-in-her-arm idea during the Speak Now Tour came from (She also quoted Joni twice there.) and many more references I dont want to bore you with xD

  • Lixvier

After hearing “Never Ever” and “I knew you were trouble” I thought this album was going to be more mainstream with more dubstep (I was getting ready to dislike it) , but when you get to hear it full you realize the sound still orbits around guitars. Yes it isn’t as country as her first album, but it isn’t too far away from Speak Now. It has more of a folk sound, it also sounds more mature to me. Speak now didn’t overcome Fearless, Red might do it.

  • http://twitter.com/thsbtch_ andrew

but how can you like katy perry? smh

  • TheThe

I dont understand her success. Her songs are “meh”.

  • http://www.facebook.com/thebLainekelley BLaine Kelley

a kola bear really needs to come and sLap you upside your aussie face if you wanna sit there and preach about this mouse lookin trick being a “good” songwriter.
Rehashing the same trivial themes and content over N over N over N over etc does not qualify someone as a “good writer” simply because it continues to sell.
there’s no denying this chick is killin hoes on the sales tip, but don’t confuse that for quality writing.

That’s like saying the lonely old women who write cheesy paperback romance novels that sell millions each year are “good” writers.

just becuz there’s a market for something doesn’t mean that the product being fed is actually “good”.

hell, Mcdonald’s slays the sales of EVERY OTHER RESTAURANT in the world, but does that make their food the best, let alone “good”? LoL

dig that cum out of your ears and step up your Listening skills.

  • http://www.facebook.com/thebLainekelley BLaine Kelley

stupid tween girls, with unevolved tastes, and even more unevolved emotional states of being. LoL…do you know how many country bumpkins and pathetic girls in the suburbs live in the USA?
    it’s not surprising.

  • theprophetblog

You just sound ignorant because you obviously haven’t listened to her last two albums. Her writing is excellent. Go and read some of the album reviews for Red or Speak Now even, from the serious critics. Most have praised the songwriting.

I just can’t with you fucking preaching about McDonalds food and shit when your favorite artist is Nicki fucking Minaj. Seriously.

  • theprophetblog

Yes it’s selling across the world…

And it’s not just tween girls buying her albums. You need more than tweens to sell a million first week. Go read the reviews of her album, or actually LISTEN to her music istead of ignorantly judging.

I’m sorry not everyone can be a brilliant like your fave Nicki Minaj and yell shit like “FUCK WHO YOU WANT AND FUCK WHO YOU LIKE!”

  • Andi

I never was one to pay attention to music critics, mostly cause I just don’t care, but to each their own. Maybe she is an excellent songwriter, however I personally have never been that into songs about love or songs about relationships, so perhaps that’s why I find Taylor’s music so utterly annoying. I also find her to be aesthetically dull, which is another pretty big turn off for me. I think she is just always going to be one of those tremendously polarizing artists.

  • shamelesskclarkstan

obvi agree with the minaj hate… however taylor is right up there, too. you can only judge an album’s writing by the way it makes you feel and think about something new, makes you think “i never thought of it that way.” … polar opposite of taylor. she brings me back to 8th grade. every. fucking. time.

moreover- music critics at this point can’t be taken seriously… they give positive reviews and in return get interviews with said popular star, write article, gets read, makes money… it’s a vicious cycle and renders it completely useless as a means to judge music.

she was the nail in the country music’s coffin, a downward spiral beginning when they kicked out the dixie chicks for rascal-flatt country-pop…. but i digress.

still wanna top you / xxoo

  • shamelesskclarkstan

prop, i love you – but more than usual lately, you pick and choose when you want to turn the class button on. re: your kesha opinions…

  • shamelesskclarkstan

    ZING!
    love.

  • http://twitter.com/cgferro Chris Topher

I love you proph and your standing for Tay Tay. All these haters better sit down and enjoy being served flawlessness. They just don’t understand when perfection is right in front of them. But I think the songs in ‘Red’ aren’t as distinct and discernible as everything in ‘Speak Now’. I’ve had ‘Red’ on repeat and several of the songs sound similar to work on the album and previous albums. I love her G-rated Ke$ha song and everything is amazing (but: Starlight sounds like a Train song, Girl At Home seems like it’s first album material and the Ed Sheeran collab is meh). LOVE The Lucky One.
