NBA All-Stars performances: Shakira, Alicia Keys and Usher!

Posted in Performances on February 15th, 2010 by The Prophet

Some of musics biggest stars were out today for the appropriately titled NBA All-Stars game in Texas.

Kicking it all off was Usher who performed “More”, “She Don’t Know” and “Yeah” at the pre-game opener, followed by sexy Shakira who shook her way through “She Wolf” and “Give It Up To Me”, and then Alicia Keys who followed Shaki with “Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart”, “Empire State of Mind” and “No One”.

Which one was your favorite? I liked them all!

ALBUM COVER: Usher – Raymond V. Raymond

Posted in Photoshoots on February 5th, 2010 by The Prophet

Slushy Ushy has just revealed the official artwork for his new album Raymond V. Raymond via his official website.

So far several singles have been lifted from the album, and whilst they’ve all failed to have a significant impact on Hot 100 all the songs have performed very strongly on the R&B/Hip-Hop singles charts.

The first single “Papers” hit #1 there last year, “Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home)” is currently #19 (so far peaking at #17), and “Little Freak” featuring Nicki Minaj is shooting up the charts week-by-week, this week climbing to #39.

Will you pick up Raymond V. Raymond when it drops on March 30, download it for free, or just not bother?

Usher gets his groove back in the “Hey Daddy” music video

Posted in Music Videos on January 28th, 2010 by The Prophet

After a rocky start R&B superstar Usher finally seems to have found his mojo in the music video for his new single “Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home)”.

I really wasn’t sure what to expect from this clip which is what made it such a welcome shock when I was so unexpectedly impressed. I absolutely love it, it’s probably one of my favorite video’s that Usher has ever done.

The dancing was incredible and really stood up against some of the top music video choreography that’s out there, and the clip really reflected the lyrics of the song with it’s simple yet engaging plot.

“Hey Daddy” is actually one of my favorite Usher singles ever and I think it’s such a sexy song, so I’m really happy that the video was done so tastefully and with a lot of class because after seeing other R&B music video’s like Beyonce’s “Video Phone” and Mario’s last clip with that sleazy threesome (whatever the hell it was called) my expectations weren’t that high.

I’m now really excited for Usher’s new album Raymond Vs. Raymond which was just rescheduled to be released on March 30.

Usher & Nicki Minaj get their freak on (musically speaking)

Posted in New Music on December 20th, 2009 by The Prophet

Usher’s endless stream of Raymond Vs. Raymond leaks continue today with “Little Freak”, a new track featuring femcee Nicki Minaj who seems to have replaced Lil’ Wayne as the biggest rent-a-rapper in the game.

The Polow Da Don produced track was penned by Ester Dean and serves as one of the better offerings from Usher’s upcoming sixth album, which is now due out on March 1.

So anyways who do you think will be the next big star to get Nicki Minaj on their track? Beyonce, Rihanna, Ciara? Just remember that Tea-Tea did it first!

Usher airbrushes on his serious face for Raymond vs Raymond album cover

Posted in Photoshoots on December 8th, 2009 by The Prophet

R&B diva king Usher has released the official artwork for his new album Raymond Vs. Raymond, which after several delays is now due on March 1, 2010.

Word is that the albums first single “Papers” has not been demoted to a “buzz single” status, and that the first official single “Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home)” will be sent to radio Dec 8.

I really like “Daddy’s Home” because it’s so filthy, so I’m glad to that it’s being released and we can move on from the generic snoozefest of “Papers”.

Are you gonna buy Raymond vs Raymond when it hits stores? If you’re still undecided you check out the OTT album promo trailer below.

Trey Songz drops “One Love” video and gets freaky with Usher & Keri Hilson

Posted in Music Videos, New Music on December 7th, 2009 by The Prophet

Sexbomb Trey Songz is about to drop a new live EP Up Close and Ready as a way to cash in on the holiday season, and he’s just released the first single “One Love” which you can check out above.

The EP should be a good way for Trey to prove that he has some talent beyond his six pack abs and hurricane tongue. It’s available on iTunes tomorrow and will include the “One Love” music video as bonus so if you like what you see (and hear) then go pick it up.

Trey has also dropped the official remix to his new single “I Invented Sex”, which features Usher & Keri Hilson. Check it out below.

Trey is really emerging as the top male in R&B right now (not including Maxwell). His album Ready was just nominated for a Grammy, whilst “I Invented Sex” sits at #2 on the R&B charts and his follow-up single “Say Ahh” is at #12 and climbing.

Now that Chris Brown has moved in a more pop direction it looks like Trey is really trying to cement his spot in urban music. Thanks to Yk2 Daily for this.

Usher & Danja “Stay Down”… Raymond Vs Raymond gets new release date

Usher lays his cards on the table in “Stay Down”, a new Danja produced joint from his upcoming album Raymond Vs. Raymond, which is now due for release on March 1, 2010.

I have a love/hate relationship with Ushers new album and his sound, but I’m definitely feeling the futuristic urban-dance vibe on this song so he’s piqued my interest for now.

What do you think of Usher’s new musical direction, and do you think it’s going to pay off when March rolls around?

Usher thinks that it’s still 2004. “Industry’s in a recession, but I’m still spendin’ from Confessions”

Usher strokes his over-inflated ego and harks back to a time when he was still famous on “In My Bag”, a new Scott Storch produced T.I. assisted joint from his new album Raymond Vs. Raymond.

“I blind em’ they can’t see me, doin’ numbers like AC/DC…Industry’s in a recession, but I’m still spendin’ from Confessions…”

I guess Usher hasn’t checked the Billboard charts for a while because AC/DC’s last album Black Ice sold close to 800k in it’s first week out, and has now totalled more than 7 million copies worldwide. Meanwhile Usher’s new album was just pushed back indefinitely. Somehow I’m failing to see the similarities between the two.

The good news however is that this song is actually really good, which restores some of my faith in Raymond Vs. Raymond. Usher’s really stepped out of his usual sound with this funky hip-hop anthem, and T.I. adds the right amount of swag to make it a certified smash.

Ushers new album is SO good that it’s been pushed back… INDEFINITELY!

Posted in News on November 23rd, 2009 by The Prophet

It looks like all the Usher stans out there won’t be getting their hands on the singers new album Raymond Vs. Raymond in time for Christmas like originally planned, with a rep for Ush confirming that it’s now been pushed back indefinitely.

“We believe that the album is so strong that we want to give it the opportunity to have the proper setup before coming out.” [source]

The album is so good that it’s been pushed back? That’s a first! It must be pretty amazing then!

I wonder if the billion leaks have something to do with this? Or maybe it’s the lukewarm reception that the lead single “Papers” has received? The song has been a big hit on the R&B charts but has failed to crossover, stalling at #31 on the Hot 100.

NEW MUSIC! Usher – She Don’t Know [Prod Bangladesh]

Posted in New Music on November 12th, 2009 by The Prophet

[Download Link]

Usher’s leakage problem continues today with “She Don’t Know”, a Bangladesh produced Sean Garrett penned track from his new album Raymond Vs. Raymond.

This is fresh, and definitely something different for Usher. The core of the production is typical Bangladesh, but the horns and percussion give it a whole new vibe. Mixing Hip-Hop and R&B with a carnival music sound was a really good idea, and it allows Usher to explore a new sound without having to jump on the dance music bandwagon.
