Toni Braxton premieres ‘Woman’ video.

Posted in Music Videos on June 28th, 2010 by The Prophet

Fabulous R&B diva Toni Braxton is now onto the fourth music video from her new album ‘Pulse’, today premiering the clip for her latest single “Woman”.

Toni obviously used up all her budget hiring Brooke Hogan for the “Yesterday” video, because “Woman” is just a glossy performance clip and nothing more. However, thanks to Toni’s stunning looks and Rihanna haircut, she made it worth the watch.

The song isn’t really anything to write home about though, and if the far superior “Hands Tied” could only reach #29 on the R&B charts then I don’t see this going too far.

Toni Braxton performs “Hands Tied” on Wendy Williams.

Posted in News, Performances on May 6th, 2010 by The Prophet

Toni Braxton has been on a number of television shows this week to promote her new album Pulse, her latest being a sultry performance of new single “Hands Tied” live on Wendy Williams.

Meanwhile the sales predictions for Pulse are out, putting the album at around 45-50k for it’s first week out. I’ve seen a lot of negativity surrounding her numbers but I actually think they’re pretty good all things considered. B.o.B. debuted at the top of this weeks albums chart with 84k and he had a number one single behind him, so Toni doing more than half those numbers without a hit to her name isn’t bad at all.

Toni’s performances are definitely on point at the moment and her new album is great for R&B lovers, so I wouldn’t say that her Pulse has completely flatlined just yet.

What do you think of Toni’s current situation?

Toni Braxton can turn tricks with her “Hands Tied” in new music video.

Posted in Music Videos on April 14th, 2010 by The Prophet

Yesterday we were treated to the fabulously tragic video for Toni Braxton’s “Make My Heart”, and now today the delicious diva has released another video, this time for “Hands Tied”, the second of her two new singles.

Although this low budget clip follows Toni as she twists and turns on a pole in a strip club, she actually manages to do it with a lot of class and there really isn’t much to poke fun at here like there was with “Make My Heart”. Sure, this video could be a deleted scene from Showgirls, but Toni owns it and she looks beautiful.

It’s not a bad song either. Neither “Hands Tied” or “Make My Heart” are going to send any wigs flying but they’re both very solid radio-friendly R&B numbers, and when you listen to a Toni Braxton record that’s exactly what you want to hear.

WATCH: Toni Braxton dances like it’s still 1996 in “Make My Heart” music video!

Posted in Music Videos on April 13th, 2010 by The Prophet

The fabulous Toni Braxton is still trying to make her comeback album Pulse happen, and earlier today she premiered the official video for her latest single “Make My Heart”.

Though this video unfortunately doesn’t feature a cameo from  Brooke Hogan like her “Yesterday” clip did, it’s still equally as fierce, but for completely different reasons.

Watching Toni recycle Britney’s old dance moves to a Beyonce b-side while rocking Victoria Beckhams old haircut and a see through catsuit is just so tragic that it’s… what’s the word… Endearing!

Toni looks like a fuddy duddy past her prime trying to shake her stuff like this is 1996 “You’re Makin’ Me High” all over again, but it’s just so ridiculous that I can’t help but love it.

Get it Toni!

Toni Braxton’s album cover for ‘Pulse’

Posted in News on March 9th, 2010 by The Prophet

R&B veteran Toni Braxton has gotten a little Mariah style retouching done for the glamorous artwork to her new album Pulse.

The album, due May 4, will feature collaborations with Robin Thicke, Trey Songz and Usher, and will contain the singles “Make My Heart” and “Yesterday”.

Toni hasn’t exactly set the charts alight lately so I don’t see massive sales for this, but I think it’ll do half-decent in it’s debut week because she has such an established fan base now. Perhaps her upcoming reality show will help the sales out. {source}

Will you buy it?

Toni Braxton performs her new single on Wendy Williams

Posted in Interviews, Performances on February 11th, 2010 by The Prophet

Fierce and fabulous forty-something Toni Braxton was a guest on the Wendy Williams show today where she performed her new single “Make My Heart” from her upcoming album Pulse (May 4).

The performance was so blatantly lip-synced that it made Britney Spears Circus tour look like Andrea Bocelli live in Tuscany, but Toni still did a great job by giving it her all and throwing in some dance moves. What about those back-up dancers though? How You Doin’!

In addition to her performance Toni also had a chat to Wendy about her new album, her divorce, her son and her upcoming reality show.

Are looking forward to the new album and TV show?

Toni Braxton heads to reality TV

Posted in News on February 10th, 2010 by The Prophet

I was told about this the other day but I was waiting for an official source to post it, and now thankfully Rap-Up have gone ahead and confirmed the news that R&B diva Toni Braxton has scored her own reality show.

Starring Toni, her mother and her sisters, “Braxton Family Values” will premiere this fall on Bravo, which is also home to “The Real Housewives of Atlanta”.

What can we expect from the show?

I don’t think people have any idea what they’re about to see. They have no idea. I’m Miss Congeniality. That’s all I can say. My family’s very animated and it’ll be entertaining.

Will there be lots of drama?

There will be some personal things about everyone. My mom and my sister Tamar will probably be the drama.

Will your two sons be part of it?

Not really, no. I have a special-needs son and I like to be able to control that with him, and I don’t want to exploit him in any kind of way. They might catch them if they’re passing through trying to get something. “Mom, where’s my iPod?” It’s not something where I’m trying to showcase them

Do you watch any other celebrity reality shows?

I watch Fantasia and her brother. It’s a riot! Of course I’ve seen Keyshia Cole. I watch a lot of them because that’s pretty much what’s on television right now, so you can’t help but watch it.

I enjoy Faith Evans as a singer but I have no interest in watching her upcoming reality show, but Toni on the other hand is somebody I’d love to see. She’s such a such an over-the-top sexy vamp as an artist, but her actual personality is so sweet and simple and down-to-earth. I love the contradiction.

I’d also like to see how she interacts with her son who has autism because that’s something that needs some more light shed on it. I’ll definitely give this show a chance.

Remember that Toni’s new album Pulse drops on May 4, and look out for her soon on the Wendy Williams Show where she’ll be performing her new single “Make My Heart”.

Toni Braxton premieres new songs and sexy new look

Posted in New Music on January 28th, 2010 by The Prophet

The gorgeous Toni Braxton premiered two new songs, “Make My Heart” and “Hands Tied”, from her upcoming album Pulse (due May 4) earlier today via her official website.

Both songs came complete with their own sexy cover art, though Toni didn’t specify whether or not they were official singles or just promo tracks.

With it’s sassy fast-paced sound “Make My Heart” is definitely my favorite of the pair, but “Hands Tied” is also nice and follows a more traditional midtempo R&B sound

What do you think Toni’s next single should be?

Toni Braxton goes country on new song “If I Have to Wait”

Posted in New Music on January 26th, 2010 by The Prophet

Toni Braxton has switched up her style on new country music themed song “If I Have to Wait”, which is lifted from her much delayed new album Pulse (now due May 4th).

So far this song is probably one of my favorites from Toni’s Pulse thanks to the way that it effortlessly blends together traditional R&B with strong elements of country music, not to mention Toni’s flawless husky vocals which are both powerful and emotive on the song.

To me Pulse is shaping up to be another I Look to You (Whitney Houston), meaning that the music has taken on a more mature and adult-contemporary approach and isn’t vying for edgy pop tunes to try and appeal to the younger audiences which is a good move because a lot of fans of traditional R&B have been complaining a lot lately saying that there’s too much electro-pop and hip-hop flooding the charts.

PUSHED BACK: Erykah Badu & Toni Braxton

Posted in News on January 23rd, 2010 by The Prophet

It’s the start of a brand new year and and you know what that means right? A whole new batch of disheartening and frustrating album push backs to look forward to!

First off is neo-soul songstress Erykah Badu, who’s fifth album New Amerykah, Part II: Return of the Ankh has been moved to March 30 for release. The 11-track album will feature production from 9th Wonder, James Poyser, J Dilla, Madlib and of course Erykah herself.

Another more obvious and inevitable push back is Toni Braxton’s sixth album Pulse, will now see the light of day on May 4. Rumour has it that the latest delay is the result of the label wanting to release a second single, which makes sense.

Now I hope we don’t see any more push backs from these two ladies because my anticipation for both projects is extremely high!

Toni Braxton discusses her career ups & downs and performs “Yesterday” on Walmart Soundcheck

Posted in Interviews, Performances on January 15th, 2010 by The Prophet

The very beautiful and talented Toni Braxton was a guest on Walmart Soundcheck recently to perform her new single “Yesterday”, which peaked at #12 on the R&B charts a few weeks back.

Toni also gave a very classy and candid interview about her career, detailing her ups and down, her comeback, her stint in Vegas, winning her first Grammy and much more.

The diva’s next album Pulse is currently scheduled to be released on March 2, so we’ll probably get another single released before then.

I know she was throwing shade at her More Than a Woman album in this interview, but she doesn’t need to because that album is hot!

Toni Braxton turns up the tempo with new Darkchild club banger

Posted in New Music on January 1st, 2010 by The Prophet

Poor Toni Braxton just can’t catch a break when it comes to her new album can she? The R&B Queen is about to rival Cassie for the most leaks from an unreleased record, with yet another track “Lookin’ at You” hitting the web today.

The good news however is that the Darkchild produced joint is a total winner, sounding like her previous single “Get Loose” on steroids, turning the tempo up to a level that we haven’t heard Toni do for a while now.

It doesn’t bode well for the diva’s upcoming album though, but the good news is that her new single “Yesterday” rocketed up to #12 on the R&B charts last week. Unfortunately though the success was short lived and it dropped down to #22 yesterday.

Hopefully she can ship this song out as her next single because it’s a stone groove pop smash!
