One night in Tea-Tea!

Posted in Music Videos on August 9th, 2010 by The Prophet

While you haters sit around playing your Beyonce CDs and rocking your Rihanna hairdos, former Def Jam diva Teairra Mari is out on the streets busting her butt tryna make some coin. Tea-Tea’s latest masterpiece is another one of her glamorous World Star Hip-Hop music video’s, this time for her cover of the Rick Ross hit “Super High” which appears on her new mixtape Point of No Return.

Unlike your fave no talent R&B singers, Tea-Tea doesn’t need a million dollar budget in order to snatch wigs, which explains the ‘vintage’ approach she’s taken in the “Super High” music video. Possibly inspired by Paris Hilton’s cinematic classic ‘One Night in Paris’, the “Super High” video has Teairra rolling around half-naked on a hotel bed with some random guy, popping champagne, and playing with the night vision function on her camcorder.

One night in Tea-Tea!

If you haven’t downloaded the mixtape of the year yet, you can get it by clicking here.

LISTEN: Teairra Mari Feat Mavado – Coins.

Posted in New Music on July 26th, 2010 by The Prophet

Teairra Mari proves that she’s a material girl with her latest money-grubbing tune “Coins”, which is lifted from her long-awaited sophomore album.

Tea-Tea’s really found her stride lately with a string of sassy urban club bangers, so “Coins” sounds right at home with the gold-diggers anthem “Sponsor” and the sexy “Body”. The financially-charged track picks up where “Sponsor” left off — but with a much more aggressive and confident sound. The addition of Jamaican rapper Mavado is a welcome change from Soulja Boy, adding a fresh and gritty flavor to the song.

Besides, who can pass up genius lyrics like: “I be on it like a green card to an immigrant!”

Check out Tea-Tea’s latest trashy, hood smash below.

Teairra Mari performs new song “Coins”.

Posted in Performances on July 24th, 2010 by The Prophet

She has an EP coming out next month, but Teairra Mari was recently recorded at a club performing a new song “Coins” from her upcoming sophomore album.

The final version of the song is set to feature Jamaican rapper Mavado and was scheduled to be Tea-Tea’s next single, but was replaced with “Body” and then saved to be used on her album.

No word yet on when the song or album will see an official release, but I hope it’s not too far away because “Coins” sounds like another urban hit in the same vein as “Sponsor”. In fact, it’s like the official sequel to “Sponsor”. She obviously knows that these sassy urban jams are working for her. As great as “Coins” is though, I hope that “Body” still gets a proper push.

Gotta love Tea-Tea. Check out “Coins” below via the Ciara-Teairra blog.

Teairra Mari unveils “Sincerely Yours” tracklisting.

Posted in News on July 23rd, 2010 by The Prophet

R&B underdog Teairra Mari today released the official tracklisting of her debut EP Sincerely Yours. The eight-track EP will be released on August 17th, and is comprised of a lot of the unleaked material from the recording sessions of Tea-Tea’s sophomore album At That Point. It also includes her hit “Sponsor”, her 2009 promotional buzz single “Hunt 4 U”, and her brand new single “Body”.

1.Sponsor Ft Gucci Mann & Soulja Boy

2.Uneasy

3.Body

4.Emergency

5.Hunt 4 U Ft Pleasure P

6.Lucky

7.Operator

Bonus Track (Stranger)

Last year I saw Tea-Tea on uStream playing tracks that were, at that time, for her album. They were “Lucky”, “Emergency” and “Operator”, so I’m gonna speculate right now and say that Teairra is getting rid of the majority of all the old At That Point tracks, releasing them on the EP and her upcoming mixtape, and will then have completely fresh music recorded for her sophomore album next year.

I can’t wait for this. “Operator” is amazing – it’s like a retro-pop rollerskating song!

Teairra Mari talks about re-recording her album, her new single “Body”, Rihanna and much more.

Posted in Interviews on July 23rd, 2010 by The Prophet

One of The Prophet Blog’s faves Teairra Mari sat down with Honey TV recently for a 10-minute interview to discuss pretty much everything.

The most interesting part of the chat was, of course, about her sophomore album At That Point, which she vowed will be retitled to something else (I’ve been rockin’ with At That Point for a long time – I’m past that point!”). She also mentioned once again that she’s re-recording the album, which, “should hopefully be done in a couple of months”. A couple of months maybe, but my uneducated guess says that it won’t actually be released until early 2011 when the competition isn’t so tough.

Tea-Tea also talked about her new single “Body” (which I’m shamelessly addicted to FYI), her upcoming seven-track EP Sincerely Yours and DJ Drama mixtape, originally being turned down for her role in the Lottery Ticket movie, dating and sexuality, a new song she’s recorded called “Freak”, being different to Rihanna, the positive side of music leaks, her plans for the future and much, much more.

It’s a great interview, not only because it was informative, but also because Tea-Tea is always so fun to watch. The, “Girl, you ain’t a model” line is hilarious!

Teairra Mari drops new single “Body”.

Posted in New Music, Uncategorized on July 8th, 2010 by The Prophet

Hustler of the year, Teairra Mari, today released her latest single “Body”.

The sexy mid-tempo was produced by Oak, and is the lead from Tea-Tea’s upcoming EP Sincerely Yours (August 17).

The sexy R&B groove is pretty fun and sassy, and while it isn’t album single material, it’s perfect for an EP or mixtape.

Once “Body” dies down, you can probably expect Teairra’s official single “Coinz” featuring Mavado to drop.

Teairra Mari shows off her “Body” on sexy new single.

Posted in News on July 6th, 2010 by The Prophet

The gorgeous Teairra Mari shows no signs of slowing down, today Tweeting the artwork for a new single of hers title “Body”, which will drop this week. It’s a beautiful cover, and I’m just going to blatantly ignore the one thing about the picture that is um, very obvious.

The last official word from Tea-Tea was that “Coinz” featuring dancehall rapper Mavado would be her next single, so “Body” could be a promo from her upcoming EP ‘Sincerely Yours‘, which is due out August 17. We’ll have to wait and see.

Teairra just does not stop and I love it.

Teairra Mari soaps up for sexy “My Lovin’” viral video. Hits the studio to re-record “At That Point”.

Posted in Music Videos, News on July 4th, 2010 by The Prophet

Teairra Mari has banged out yet another one of her increasingly sexual viral music videos, this time stripping off and soaping up for a raunchy remix to Drake’s current smash “Find Your Love” – retitled to “My Lovin’” for Tea-Tea’s version.

These videos are starting to become a little too gratuitous and unnecessarily sexual now, and could take a bit away from that down-to-earth vibe that Tea-Tea’s got working for her. I hope she starts to tone it down a little from now on.

Anyway, “My Lovin’” is lifted from Teairra’s upcoming mixtape ‘Point of No Return‘ with mixtape heavyweight DJ Drama. It’s due for release mid-July.

Besides that, Teairra also has a 7-track digital EP dropping this August titled ‘Sincerely Yours‘. According to a recent interview, she revealed that the EP is a way to give her fans new music while she records more new songs for her sophomore album ‘At That Point‘, since too much of the album has leaked online.

“Being that half of my album leaked, I need to go back to the drawing board with the album, so I just decided to release a digital EP instead of the album right now. Just to give the fans something, and I can go back to the drawing board and record my album and get in my zone.”

“…I kept seeing song after song after song, so I was like, “We’ve gotta record a new album. There’s no way we can put these songs on this album – that would be cheating the people spending their money on the album.” It’s sad for me [when my album leaked] because I worked so hard on it, but it was for the fans anyway, so it’s no blood lost.”

Maybe if the album hadn’t been pushed back for over a year then the songs wouldn’t have leaked. Just a thought. I understand that Teairra needed to build buzz and get a hit first though, and if you look at her progress you can see just how far she’s come at getting her name out there since returning with her new record deal in late 2008/early 2009.

I’ve said it before, but artists like Nina Sky, Christina Milian and Cassie really need to follow in Teairra’s footsteps and get their name out there. I know Nina Sky do a lot of shows and have an EP in the works now which is fantastic, but it would be great if Cassie and Christina Milian did the same. A mixtape or EP would be a perfect way to release their leaked material legally to the fans.

Even when Teairra doesn’t have an album to give the fans, she’s still providing them with music and entertainment in different ways, from movies to videos and more. Teairra also doesn’t have a big name like Diddy or The-Dream backing her, yet her #25 R&B/Hip-Hop hit “Sponsor” is still much bigger than Christina Milian and Cassie’s last singles were.

Motto of this story: Be proactive because it pays off.

Teairra Mari preps new EP, mixtape and brand new single.

Posted in News on June 28th, 2010 by The Prophet

Despite her sophomore album ‘At That Point’ being pushed back to an undetermined date, R&B singer Teairra Mari has still managed to keep herself very busy with a bunch of upcoming projects.

First off, Tea-Tea has an official mixtape with DJ Drama dropping mid-July. She’s already shot another one of her trademark promo videos for it, so you can expect that soon.

Following the mixtape, Teairra will release a 7-track EP on August 17 called ‘Sincerely Yours‘. The tracklisting hasn’t been released yet, but it will include her urban hit “Sponsor”.

Finally, Teairra will be releasing another new single from her At That Point album, titled “Coinz” featuring reggae/dancehall artist Mavado.

It’s disappointing that Tea-Tea’s album keeps getting pushed back, but at least she’s staying on the grind and giving us plenty of goodies in the mean time. She’s also got a supporting role in the new Bow Wow movie ‘Lottery Ticket‘, opening August 20, so we should be seeing a lot of her over the next few months.

SNAPPED: Teairra Mari steps out for Nylon party.

Posted in Candids on June 23rd, 2010 by The Prophet

One of The Prophet Blog’s fave R&B chicks Teairra Mari stepped out on Tuesday for Nylon Magazine’s music issue party, which was hosted by M.I.A. at the Mondrian Hotel in West Hollywood.

If you haven’t heard already, Tea-Tea recently announced that she’ll be dropping a 5-track EP this August, rather than her highly-delayed sophomore album At That Point. The EP will include her hit single “Sponsor”, which peaked at #25 on the R&B/Hip-Hop singles chart and is currently now sitting at #46 after 27 weeks on the chart.

The EP’s release date of August 17 has been timed to coincide with Teairra’s role in the new Bow Wow/Ice Cube comedy ‘Lottery Ticket‘, which opens in theaters three days later on August 20.

Unfortunately, At That Point now is left without a release date, but at least they are giving the fans something with the EP. It feels a little late, but it’s better than nothing and the EP will be a good way of legally releasing Tea-Tea’s material to the fans, while also give her a chance to record new stuff.

Cassie should take note.

Teairra Mari turns up the heat for “Shower Scene” and “Chemistry”.

Posted in New Music on June 4th, 2010 by The Prophet

Teairra Mari has sprung a leak today as two new songs from the recording sessions for her new sophomore album ‘At That Point’ have hit the web.

The first is “Shower Scene”, which is produced by DJ Clue who is best known for helming Mariah Carey’s hit “Heartbreaker”. The steamy song was originally intended to appear on At That Point last year, but recent listening parties for the album haven’t mentioned the song at all so I think it’s safe to say that it’s probably been left on the cutting room floor.

The second leak is the Jim Jonsin produced “Chemistry”, and while it’s pretty damn amazing something tells me that it isn’t actually Tea-Tea on the track. The vocals sound like they may be sung by a demo singer with an uncanny resemblance to Teairra, not to mention that the song has never been mentioned in any of the reviews from the At That Point listening parties.

Fingers crossed that the song really does belong to Tea-Tea though because it’s one of the strongest cuts to come from At That Point so far. The whispery, layered vocals on the sexually charged track sound like something from Cassie’s elusive Electro Love album, while the upbeat thump of the bass is tailor made for the bedroom.

Check them both out below.

[Shower Scene]

[Chemistry]

Update: Chemistry confirmed as NOT Teairra.
