Contrary to popular belief, female rap legend Missy Elliott hasn’t actually vanished off the face of the planet, returning to television screens today for the VH1 Hip Hop Honors.

Missy was there to perform a tribute to super producer Timbaland, which also featured Bun B, Sebastian, D.O.E. and Keri Hilson. Face it though – Missy was the only one who really mattered. After the rest of the artists warmed up the eager crowd, Missy sent them into overdrive as she stormed the stage to perform “Get Ur Freak On” and “Work It”.

She’s been laying low for a while, but she has a few concert dates in Europe coming up soon so that could mean that the official comeback is almost upon us and we could see her long-awaited Block Party album finally released this year.

Just when you think that Missy Elliott has vanished from the face of the earth she pops up again as either a feature on a mid-level female artists track, or a half-finished song from her much delayed Block Party album will leak online.
