Mariah scraps Angels Advocate; eyes brand new studio album!

Posted in News on March 22nd, 2010 by The Prophet

In the biggest “who the f**k didn’t see this coming” moment of the year, Mariah Carey’s upcoming remix album Angels Advocate has officially been shelved and tossed onto the scrap heap next to the Taiwanese advance copies of Flopzinger’s Her Name Is Nicole.

I won’t bore you with all the abysmal chart placings of the five combined singles from Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel and Angels Advocate, but just know that besides the Platinum-certified “Obsessed” the rest bombed big time.

Never one to bow out gracefully though, Mariah is already plotting her next move and trying to decide between releasing a brand new studio album, or another Christmas record.

“We are looking to go possibly to another studio album or Christmas album,” announced Mariah’s manager Chris Lighty. “The decision hasn’t been totally made yet. It’s a creative process that cannot be rushed.” {source}

Lighty is also promising that some more singles may be released from Angels Advocate and that it won’t completely “go to waste”, but I’d say the likelihood of that actually happening is about the same as Carmit Bachar being elected the mayor of Milwaukee.

Mariah honey, a new album is not the answer to your problems. Chill out for a while, get inspired, do some acting, paint a picture and do an arts and crafts course and then come back in the future because your last two albums were not the business! Sometimes less is more!

Mariah Carey helps out the School Gyrls on new single “Get Like Me”

Posted in New Music on March 15th, 2010 by The Prophet

You may not be familiar with the School Gyrls just yet, but they’re a new three-piece tween girl group created by Nick Cannon and signed to his NCredible Entertainment label. They haven’t exactly hit the big time yet, but they just had their own movie released on Nickelodeon which co-starred Justin Bieber and Kristinia DeBarge.

They’re also working on an album, and the latest single to be lifted from it is the urban-pop club banger “Get Like Me” that was penned by Nick and his superstar wife Mariah Carey, and actually features Mariah on some sexy background vocals.

“Get Like Me” definitely isn’t anything that hasn’t been done before, but it packs a much bigger punch than anything that Justin Bieber has released and actually wouldn’t have sounded out of place on Raven Symones last album. Also, the addition of Mariah injects the song with a little more maturity that might give it a pass to be played in the clubs.

If you want to pump Mariah’s deflated ego back up by giving her a hit single in her time of need then head on over to iTunes purchase the song.

Mariah Carey wraps Ludacris up in a “Ribbon”

Posted in New Music on March 6th, 2010 by The Prophet

Mariah Carey reminds us that she has a new album coming out at the end of the month with the official remix to her song “Ribbon”.

The new version of the Memoirs… cut still has the same production from The-Dream & Tricky, but now Ludacris and The-Dream have both been tacked on with a quick cut and paste verse from the two.

I liked “Ribbon” better before, but Angels Advocate is a remix album so obviously she had to do something with the song.

Currently the lead single from Angels Advocate, “Up Out My Face Remix” featuring Nicki Minaj, is at #43 on the R&B/Hip-Hop charts after peaking at #39 last week.

What do you think the album will debut at when it’s released on March 30? I’m gonna predict somewhere around #30 or #40 with a steep drop in it’s second week.

Mariah Carey struggles to fill 3000 seat halls for Angels Advocate tour

Posted in News on February 15th, 2010 by The Prophet

Some fans scratched their heads when Mariah Carey announced that she was going on tour in support of her poorly-selling album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel and upcoming remix album, labeling it as a bad move for the diva who’s had a hard time topping the charts lately.

Unfortunately it seems that the naysayers have been proven right after box office data for two of the shows was released last week, revealing the Mariah has been struggling to fill up the small 3,000 seat venues she’s been performing in.

For her show last month in Atlanta at the Fox Theatre Mimi only sold 2,833 seats out of the total 3,719, and her bad luck continued onto her show at DAR Construction Hall where she only filled 2,430 seats out of the available 3,166. {source}

Not being able to sell-out a 3,000 seat hall when you’re one of the biggest female artists of all time is pretty dire, but Mariah might be able to console herself with some stellar international concert dates if the rumors of her extending the Angels Advocate tour overseas are true.

Meanwhile Mimi’s remix album, also titled Angels Advocate, is scheduled to hit stores March 30. Do you think her poor ticket sales will reflect album sales?

WATCH: Mariah’s two new music videos from Angels Advocate!

Posted in Music Videos on January 27th, 2010 by The Prophet

Mariah Carey’s new album Angels Advocate is set to drop on March 23, and now we have the albums first two music videos which premiered exclusively on Vevo only moments ago and we’re brought to my attention by my friend over at the Pin Board Blog.

First up is the Nick Cannon directed “Up Out My Face” featuring femcee Nicki Minaj. Normally I’d cuss Mariah out for dressing up in her usual Jodie Foster in Taxi Driver outfits, but the ridiculous clothes actually work this time around because the song and video are both so tongue-in-cheek and silly.  The whole clip was just a whole lot of fun and for once Mariah was actually in on the joke.

I always appreciate when somebody can make a video work on a recession budget, so props to Nick Cannon for not giving us a repeat of the cringe-worthy “My Love” clip.

The other video, also directed by NC, is the ballad “Angels Cry” which features R&B crooner Ne-Yo. I didn’t mind this one either, though I was a little amused by the sight of Mariah out in the rain being soaking wet one minute then completely dry the next, making sure to maintain her picture perfect makeup the whole time.

Overall though I think Mariah and Nick did a great job, so now all we need is the actual Angels Advocate album so we can all finally move on with our lives and pretend that Mariah hasn’t released an album since The Emancipation of Mimi. Ignorance is bliss!

LISTEN: Mariah Carey’s hilarious pornographic prank call

Posted in Random on January 27th, 2010 by The Prophet

Mariah Carey showed that she actually has a sense of humor underneath her pedantic diva demands when she prank called her husband Nick Cannon’s radio show in the character of the porn obsessed “Debbie” from Long Island.

Nicky obviously knew that it was his wifey on the other end of the phone from the get-go, but the call is still pretty hilarious.

For once it seems that we’re finally laughing with Mariah, and not at her like we will be if she pushes back that damn Angels Advocate one more time!

Mariah’s Angels Advocate pushed back…. Again

Posted in News on January 25th, 2010 by The Prophet

Earlier this month Mariah Carey’s new album Angels Advocate was pushed back to March 9th, but it seems that the diva still feels like that release date is far too soon so she’s gone right on ahead and pushed the album back again, this time to March 23.

The music video’s for the albums two new singles “Angels Cry” feat Ne-Yo and “Up Out My Face” feat Nicki Minaj will both be premiered around the world on January 28, exclusively through Vevo. {source}

What’s going on Mariah? Why the hold up?

Mariah flashes her Golden Globes and dishes on Mary J. Blige collabo

Posted in Candids, News on January 17th, 2010 by The Prophet

Mariah Carey’s incredible inflating breasts reached gigantic new proportions today when the diva strutted her stuff on the red carpet at the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards.

She may not have taken home an award, but I’m sure she’s more than happy with the two Golden Globes on her chest.

Mimi’s been had her hands full lately touring around the country and preparing for the release of her remix album Angels Advocate, which was recently pushed back to March 9th.

One of the many guests on Angels Advocate will be R&G Queen Mary J. Blige, whom Mariah spoke about during a recent concert show.

“This next song [It's a Wrap], this is about, basically, relationships. We’re dealing with relationships here. It’s like when you’ve waited all night long for somebody to come home and they finally come home, and it’s the morning and… you yourself are like, ‘Where is this MF’er?’ … I’m talking about a serious subject here. This is a serious situation that I’m talking about. This is from, well I told you we’re remixing the album and I’m singing this with Mary J. Blige and I’m really excited about it.”

I guess Mary no longer feels like Mariah is “too mainstream” for her after making some comments back in 2007 that mainstream music worked for Mariah and Beyonce, but her her music was more organic.

NEW MUSIC: Mariah Carey Feat Nicki Minaj – “Up Out My Face Remix”

Posted in New Music on January 7th, 2010 by The Prophet

Here’s is the second of Mariah Carey’s two dual singles from her upcoming remix album Angels Advocate.

“Up Out My Face Remix” featuring Nicki Minaj is another cut & paste job similar to the “Angels Cry Remix” with Ne-Yo so it’s nothing to write home about, but the added publicity of it girl Nicki should benefit the song when it comes to radio and MTV.

Will you be buying Angels Advocate?

NEW MUSIC! Mariah Carey & Ne-Yo – Angels Cry Remix

Posted in New Music on January 6th, 2010 by The Prophet

Mariah Carey has just released her official “Angels Cry Remix” featuring Ne-Yo. The song will serve as one of the duel lead singles from the divas upcoming remix album Angels Advocate.

“Angels Cry” was always one of my least favourite song from Mimi’s Memoirs… album because it reminded me too much of Stargate, but I think Ne-Yo’s really given the song something it was missing and turned it into a lovely heartfelt R&B-pop tune which should do well on radio thanks to it’s formulaic production.

Keep an eye out for Mariah’s next Angels Advocate single “Up Out My Face Remix” featuring Nicki Minaj which should be released soon.
