Filmed back in late February, BET’s annual Rip The Runway special finally aired on TV last night, featuring performances from all the hottest acts in urban music who currently have a new single out to flog.

Current it girl Nicki Minaj and Ludacris were there to perform their hit “My Chick Bad”, as well as Janelle Monae performing “Tightrope”, Estelle and Kardinal Offishall with “Freak”, Trina and a video version of Keri Hilson for “Million Dollar Girl”, and last but not least B.o.B. and the elusive Bruno Mars who performing their smash “Nothin’ On You”.

Oh and Roscoe Dash and Soulja Boy were there to, but I followed my gut instinct and decided not to post their performance. Trust me, you’ll thank me when you’re older.

Overall I’d say that the best performance of the night belonged to my faves Janelle Monae or B.o.B. (go figure), whilst the worst was probably Nicki Minaj who’s going to have to make a few alternations to her ‘wacky’ gimmick because stepping out on stage in Britney’s old crazy wig and yelling and thrashing all over the place does not equal a good performance.

Meanie Ludacris may have given Shawnna the cold shoulder but he’s still down with every other femcee in the game, bringing out Miami’s finest Trina and former Crime Mob rapper Diamond to perform the official remix to his single “My Chick Bad” on BET’s 106 & Park today {via New Kidz}.

Everyone is so busy loving Trina, Nicki and Eve that my girl Diamond always gets overlooked, so I’m glad that she got this opportunity to perform because she outshone both Luda and Trina with her rapping and her on-stage energy. Get it Diamond!

If you liked the performance then you can pick up Luda’s new album Battle of the Sexes. According to HitsDoubleDaily it’ll knock Lady Antebellum off the top of the charts next week with around 120k, giving Luda the fourth No. 1 album of his career.

Mariah Carey reminds us that she has a new album coming out at the end of the month with the official remix to her song “Ribbon”.

The new version of the Memoirs… cut still has the same production from The-Dream & Tricky, but now Ludacris and The-Dream have both been tacked on with a quick cut and paste verse from the two.

I liked “Ribbon” better before, but Angels Advocate is a remix album so obviously she had to do something with the song.

Currently the lead single from Angels Advocate, “Up Out My Face Remix” featuring Nicki Minaj, is at #43 on the R&B/Hip-Hop charts after peaking at #39 last week.

What do you think the album will debut at when it’s released on March 30? I’m gonna predict somewhere around #30 or #40 with a steep drop in it’s second week.

After trading in Shawnna for Nicki Minaj rapper Ludacris has premiered the video for his latest single “My Chick Bad” from his new album Battle of the Sexes.

The video see’s Nicki doing an impression of slasher king Freddie Krueger (complete with the knife claws) whilst wearing a Britney-gone-bonkers pink wig. Nicki doesn’t lose her own flavor amongst all the craziness though, making sure sure to include the psychotic facial expressions of hers that have now become her trademark.

The Battle of the Sexes album was originally conceived as a joint album involving Shawnna, but Luda dropped her from the project after she signed with T-Pains Nappy Boy Ent and the rest is history.

Be on the lookout for the forthcoming “My Chick Bad” remix video soon, which features every single femcee that isn’t Shawnna such as Trina, Eve and my girl Diamond.

After successfully upping his target market from eleven-year-old tweens to fifteen-year-old girls, singer-songwriter Jesse McCartney has announced plans to return next year with a new R&B tinged album.

“It’s gonna be kind of a continuation of Departure, but maybe a little more R&B slightly. You’ll get the chance to hear what’s going on in my head right now and a little … more personal.”

“It’s a little bit more raw,” he explained. “But still rhythmic and upbeat. It’s still soulful. I’m still kind of writing it all out. I don’t want to give too much away.” [source]

The 22-year-old also confirmed that he plans to team up with rapper Ludacris again after they found success together with their hit single “How Do You Sleep”.

I don’t mind a little J-Mac here and there. Departure had some nice sugary sweet urban-pop, but it didn’t manage to take him all the way to adulthood. Right now he’s stuck somewhere between Justin Bieber and Justin Timberlake circa 2002, so he really needs to make sure that this next album completes the transition for him.

LeToya was a guest on BET’s 106 & Park today to premiere the video for her new single “Regret”, which has is quickly becoming a huge sleeper hit, already reaching #78 on the Hot 100 and #8 on the Billboard R&B charts.

Considering that her label Capitol didn’t even want to shoot a video for “Regret” in the first place it comes as no surprise that this is the epitome of a recession video. As much as I hate to say this it was a little boring and plain, but things started to heat up towards the ending when LeToya confronted her buster ex-bf whilst hanging off the arm of the very sexy Ludacris.

I’m really proud of LeToya for getting this far when all the odds were stacked against her. The fans are the ones who have supported her and gotten “Regret” to blow up in the face of so much adversity, so let’s all get together again and make “Regret” #1 video on 106 & Park  and the #1 song on the R&B charts!

Here’s some new video footage of LeToya and Ludacris filming the video for their new hit single “Regret” which will premiere on BET next week.

They look so cute together and the video looks like it’s going to be great. LeToya was actin’ really sassy and she looks flawless. I think her and Luda should get together in real life.

Despite all the adversity “Regret” is becoming more popular by the day, leaping back into the Hot 100 this week at #91, whilst holding steady on the R&B charts and climbing up to #4 on the urban airplay chart.

I’m so glad to see that despite everything LeToya is doing so well. She really deserves all her success and more.

LeToya looks amazing and I can’t wait to see the video. Capitol weren’t even going to shoot a clip in the first place, but the song has done so well with zero promotion by reaching #11 on the R&B chart and #96 on the Hot 100 that the label basically had no choice.

After the success of her song “Regret”, it has now been confirmed that LeToya will shoot a video for the single.

Rapper Ludacris who features on the single is also set to appear in the video.

Originally released as radio promo single, “Regret” surprisingly took off quickly, so far reaching #11 on the R&B/Hip-Hop singles chart and breaking into the Hot 100 with zero promotion.

The song was also the subject of several online petitions, organized by LeToya’s fans who were upset with the lack of promotion the singer had received from her label Capitol.

LeToya’s sophomore album Lady Love is instores now.

I’m really happy for LeToya. Capitol basically pulled the plug on all her promo, and then out of nowhere “Regret” started blowing up and forced them to take notice again. I think with a music video and some real promo that the song could do big things on the urban charts and radio. I still listen to Lady Love quite a bit, it’s a really good R&B album and I hope this helps reignite interest in the whole project.

If any more singles get released I’d love to see “Take Away Love” with Estelle because that’s my favourite.

Rapper Ludacris has confirmed that his joint album with femcee Shawnna, Battle of The Sexes, is still on it’s way, and that’s the pair have a few very special guest appearances up their sleeve.

Battles of the Sexes album should be coming, if we can’t get it out by the end of the year this December, then it’s coming out Valentine’s Day.

Me and Shawnna are going extremely hard. We got Monica on the album, we got a lot of different females rappers I’m not gonna name all of them. Ne-Yo is on there representing for the dudes, it’s a lot of different artists. I’m not gonna let everybody [know].

Battle of The Sexes is a concept album which will feature a man verses woman theme on all the tracks. Lucacris & Shawnna have already dropped a buzz single from the project “Everybody Drunk as Fuck”, which will be followed by two more official singles “My Chick Bad” and “Can’t Stand Yo Ass” at a later date.

I thought this album was dead in the water so I’m relieved to know that it’s still on it’s way. I also didn’t realise it was going to have so many features, which is great news. I can’t wait to hear Monica going in hard on the men! I wonder what other female rappers and features they’ve tapped for the project? It’d be cool if they could get Drake on there.
