Leona Lewis reunites with Ryan Tedder for new album.

Posted in News on September 2nd, 2010 by The Prophet

Proving that she hasn’t learned her lesson yet, Leona Lewis has hooked back up with producer Ryan Tedder to record songs for what is believed to be for her upcoming third studio album.

“Went to Frankfurt to record with Ryan Tedder! Was so fun, really excited!” she tweeted, before mentioning that Ryan recommended her some new tunes to listen to. “Got some new music from Ryan to get into, temper trap and jaydiohead!”

As I’m sure you all know, Ryan Tedder produced the amazing “Bleeding Love”, followed by the truly horrendous “Happy”. Gross.

Can’t she ditch Ryan and just release “Nowhere Left to Go”, “Stone Hearts” or “Myself” instead?

By the way, I noticed that Teairra Mari has way more followers on Twitter than Leona does. I was kind of shocked, until I looked at Le-Lew’s page and realized that even I don’t follow her, yet I’ve been following Tea-Tea for months… That’s one point to Tea-Tea, zero to Le-Lew.

Leona Lewis working on “Echo” re-release.

Posted in News, Rumours on July 25th, 2010 by The Prophet

Leona Lewis was recently spotted in the studio with producer Dallas Austin, for what was assumed to be recording sessions for her upcoming third album. Well, as it turns out, Le-Lew’s recent recordings could actually be for an upcoming re-release of her poorly-performing sophomore album Echo. According to new reports in the Mirror, Leona will re-release the album this Christmas, along with a tour DVD of her recent UK tour The Labyrinth.

Besides spilling the news about the Echo re-release, The Mirror also dished some dirt on Labyrinth tour. Apparently, Leona had to cancel plans to tour outside of the UK and Ireland because she was too upset over splitting with her childhood sweetheart Lou Al-Chamaa, but the cancellation of Christina Aguilera’s Bionic tour – which Leona was set to open for – also put a dent in her international plans.

“Christina’s tour flopping caused a major problem for Leona. It meant she would have a long time to wait before she could tour the rest of the world.”

In addition to working on an Echo re-release, Leona is also recording her third album with J.R. Roten (“Better In Time”) and Ne-Yo. Simon Cowell supposedly wants the album finished by the Summer, so Le-Lew can get some major promotion in by performing on the US X Factor in the Autumn.

At this stage, a re-release of Echo seems absolutely pointless considering that the album’s second and final single “I Got You” couldn’t even crack the top ten in the UK, but she might be able to rack up some holiday sales off the back of a new single and hype from her tour DVD. Finding a hit for her third album should be her number one priority though.

By the way, does anybody else love her unreleased song “Nowhere Left to Go”?

Leona Lewis starts recording third album; David Guetta on board.

Posted in News on July 5th, 2010 by The Prophet

After suffering the dreaded sophomore slump, snoozetastic singer Leona Lewis has wasted no time by heading straight back into the studio to begin recording album number three.

Le-Lew has already hooked back up with her “Better In Time” producer J.R. Rotem, as well as singer-songwriter Ne-Yo. It also looks like she’ll be spending some time in the studio with David Guetta to, after the DJ revealed that the pair have been in talks, and that so far, everything is looking A-OK.

“She’s an amazing talent and incredibly beautiful. I’d love to work with her and see what we could do. There have been initial talks and it looks positive. It would be great to see what we could do together.” {source}

What a thrilling lineup we have so far for Leona’s new album. Guetta, Ne-Yo, etc. So fresh and original. Where’s RedOne though?

Dance music and Leona Lewis don’t mix together very well, but after the Ryan Tedder ballad “crHappy” bombed, followed by the much better but even less successful “I Got You”, there’s probably not much left to try within Leona’s safe little confines. I could however, picture her doing a retro club track in a similar vein to those 90′s Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston club remixes. That could work, right?

The album is rumored to be due out by the end of this year, so we won’t have long to wait and see what Le-Lew has up her sleeve.

Listen: Jennifer Hudson and Leona Lewis team up for diva duet “Love Is Your Color”.

Posted in New Music on May 10th, 2010 by The Prophet

Leona Lewis may be opening up for the mum of the century Christina Aguilera on her upcoming Bionic tour, but before she steps foot into Aggie’s creative den she’s teamed up with another diva Jennifer Hudson for a new duet “Love Is Your Color”.

The song is lifted from the soundtrack to latest Sex and The City movie, which J-Hud is no stranger to after appearing on the OST for the first film in the franchise.

Le-Lew and J-Hud are easily two of the best female vocalists in the industry today, but that hasn’t prevented this duet from turning into a bit of a snoozefest.

Here’s two far more exciting diva collaborations to watch instead.

Christina Aguilera and Leona Lewis hit the road for Bionic tour.

Posted in News on May 10th, 2010 by The Prophet

Two of the biggest voices in pop will hit the road this summer, with Christina Aguilera today announcing the dates for the US leg of her Bionic tour, which will feature British singer Leona Lewis as the official support act.

The 20-date tour will see the two powerhouse singers playing a variety of venues from arena’s to theaters, kicking off in Connecticut on July 15 and wrapping up in California on August 19. Tickets will go on sale through Live Nation on May 21.

Back in 2007 when Leona’s debut album and single topped the US charts it looked like she’d be headlining her own tour by now, but the incredibly poor sales of her sophomore effort Echo seem to have taken her down a few notches on the pop star food chain.

Meanwhile Aggie is still going on about her sexuality, being an artist and how many different “hats” she wears.

“There’s two different hats for me. Sexuality to me, it’s really nothing to be ashamed of…”

“Being a mum and being an artist that expresses myself are two very different things for me, they’re two very different hats that I wear. Do I lessen anything because I’m either married or have a child? No. Because it’s all about self-expression and being an artist. It’s so important to me. I’m not just a singer. I’m an artist who gets visually inspired and collects art.” {source}

Did you catch that? Xtina’s an artist ya’ll.

Now moving on, are you going to the tour? Have you seen Le-Lew or Aggie live before?

Leona Lewis performs “I Got You” on GMTV

Posted in Performances on February 23rd, 2010 by The Prophet

Leona Lewis hit up GMTV this morning to perform her new single “I Got You”, and as per usual she looked stunning and delivered another flawless CD quality vocal performance.

Th singer will embark on her first major tour at the end of May which she says will be “atmospheric” and inspired by the blockbuster film Avatar.

There’s not much else to report on the Le-Lew front, so enjoy the performance.

MUSIC VIDEO: Leona Lewis – I Got You

Posted in Music Videos on February 12th, 2010 by The Prophet

Just in time for Valentines Day Leona Lewis has dropped the very unexciting video for her romantic new single “I Got You”, the second release from her sophomore album Echo.

I guess Le-Lew has been pretty busy lately so she only filmed one or two scenes for the clip and then the rest was filled up with scenes of other actors.

I wouldn’t hold my breath expecting Leona to get another hit in the States any time soon, but at least she’ll probably continue do well in the UK.

Leona Lewis performs “I Got You” on SYTYCD

Posted in Performances on February 6th, 2010 by The Prophet

If it wasn’t for Ryan Tedders ignorant rants and that annoying Avatar movie I would’ve forgotten that Leona Lewis existed, but here she is back again performing her new single “I Got You” live on the UK version of So You Think You Can Dance.

For the performance Le-Lew was rocking a similar to look to that of her Echo album cover, and as usual her vocals were flawless. In fact if I just closed my eyes I could’ve sworn that I was listening to the CD version and not a live performance.

Anyways “I Got You” was sent out to US radio last December and still hasn’t done anything chart wise, but as long as she’s got the UK on lock she’ll be fine.

Ryan Tedder blames poor promotion and Lady GaGa for Leona’s “Happy” flop

Posted in Beef, News on January 25th, 2010 by The Prophet

Two Ryan Tedder posts in a row! Aren’t you lucky? *blank stare*

Anyways, the egotistical producer is back to putting his foot in his mouth again, this time publicly addressing the poor performance of Leona Lewis’ single “Happy”, which only managed a peak of #32 on the Hot 100.

The song also caused a ripple effect and added to the incredibly poor US reception towards Leona’s sophomore album Echo, which debuted at #13 on the Billboard charts before sinking without a trace.

“In the US, unless you’re Justin Timberlake or Beyoncé, you cannot put out a song and not be in the country when it comes out,” he told Digital Spy.

“Leona was gone for six weeks when ‘Happy’ came out because she was promoting the record in other countries – it wasn’t her fault; she just couldn’t be two places in once.

“I had radio stations telling me that they thought ‘Happy’ was the single biggest ballad they’d come across in ten years, but that if Leona didn’t come over here and promote it, it was going to fall.”

Just for the record Leona actually performed the song on some of the biggest programs in America, including Dancing with the Stars and The Ellen Degeneres Show, not to mention the Europe Music Awards which was televised around the world.

Then to make matters worse Tedder continued his ridiculous rant, pointing the finger towards the new Lady GaGa dance craze that’s so popular on the charts right now.

“On top of that, America’s consumed with Lady GaGa and dance music right now, so it’s not the best time for ballads anyway”, he said. “When everything on the radio is blasting out at 120 bpm, a song like ‘Happy’ almost sounds out-of-place.”

Tedder says it’s not the best time for ballads, yet two similar sounding ballads he produced; Beyonces “Halo” and Kelly Clarksons “Already Gone”, have both been enormous million-plus selling smash hits.

It sounds to me like this is the Kelly Clarkson situation all over again, where Tedder is having trouble accepting that he isn’t God’s gift to the music industry. Did he ever consider the fact that many people (including myself) thought that “Happy” was a boring unoriginal snoozefest?

RUMOUR: Leona Lewis enlists Robbie Williams and Kings of Leon for “Echo” re-release?

Posted in News on January 4th, 2010 by The Prophet

According to new reports from The MirrorLeona Lewis will re-release her poorly selling sophomore album Echo later this year.

Just as I predicted earlier last month the re-release was supposedly spurred by the success of Leona’s involvement in the box-office blockbuster Avatar, in which Le-Lew sings the films theme song “I See You”.

Leona, at Simon Cowell’s request, will reportedly head into the studio next week with Robbie Williams to record two tracks for the album. Simon supposedly thinks the pair would be great together, and even wants to coincide the Echo re-release with Leona’s upcoming arena tour in hopes that Robbie will join her on stage for a few shows.

The snooze-o-riffic star has also decided to grow a backbone and take some more control over her career, reportedly seeking out “it” band of the moment Kings of Leon to talk about doing a track together.

Wow Kings of Leon, what a surprise. Not.

Anyways good for Leona I hope it works out for her, but I’m surprised that she’s collaborating with people who are already massive in the UK since her album is already doing great over there. I thought she’d take another stab at America but maybe she’s given up and decided to go where the money is.

SNAPPED! Leona Lewis shoots “I Got You” video

Posted in Candids on December 21st, 2009 by The Prophet

Here’s out first look at Leona Lewis’ new video “I Got You”, which is one of the better cuts from the singers snooze-a-riffic sophomore album Echo.

Though Echo has been bogged down by poor sales internationally it’s managed to do quite well in the UK where it’s already been certified double Platinum.

Even if the album isn’t able to escape the clutches of the dreaded sophomore slump it’s not all over for Le-Lew yet, with James Cameron’s Avatar topping the box office this weekend and raking in well over $200 worldwide, so we could see her storming the chart soon with the movies theme song “I See You”.

PERFORMANCES: Alicia Keys & Leona Lewis

Posted in Performances on December 16th, 2009 by The Prophet

My girl Alicia Keys was on The Colbert Report last night to perform “Empire State of Mind Part II” from her just-released album The Element of Freedom.

Colbert also joined in and started rapping, but I can’t stand him so I didn’t find it funny at all.

Also out flogging their new album was the sweeter-than-sugar Leona Lewis, who performed her second single “I Got You”. The song was sent out to radio last week, so it’ll be interesting to see how it goes.
