Justin Timberlake reminds us all that he is NOT recording new music.

Posted in News on June 15th, 2010 by The Prophet

While over on a promotional trip to Dubai, Justin Timberlake revealed in a new interview that he has still not started looking into recording a third album, insisting yet again that he is much more focused on his blossoming acting career than he is with music right now.

“I have not done anything on my own stuff. I mean yes and no — I’m always cataloguing stuff in my brain and on my hard drive for future use. It’s great to spice it up, but if you don’t like it… I don’t know until I get there. That’s the thing with artists, man. We don’t know until we know. And then you’ll know.”

“I am enjoying doing films right now. There’s certain people in Hollywood that actually care what I think now. I’ve actually put enough time into that process that I have to see that through and not turn my back on it.” [source]

I suddenly feel my suicidal tenancies returning.

Justin’s current film endeavors include The Social Network and the voice of Boo-Boo in the  big screen CGI adaption of Yogi Bear. At this rate I’d say that work won’t begin on a new album until 2011, and that’s at the absolutely earliest.

Justin’s 2002 solo debut Justified has sold over 8 million copies since it’s release, while his follow-up Futuresex/Lovesounds has sold over 9 million (and produced three #1 singles).

Justin Timberlake reps Memphis with feature on new Sheryl Crow album.

Posted in News on June 9th, 2010 by The Prophet

Singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow has enlisted the Memphis born and bred Justin Timberlake to feature on her upcoming seventh studio album ’100 Miles from Memphis’. The pair have come together for a cover of the Terence Trent D’Arby classic “Sign Your Name”, which hit the top five of the Billboard Hot 100 back in 1987.

He [Justin] happened to be at (Henson) producing Jamie Foxx, and he was in the hallway,” Crow recalls. “I’ve always liked him. I played the song for him, and when it got to the chorus he’s like, ‘Who’s doing the backgrounds?’ I said ‘We haven’t done them yet,’ and he said, ‘I got it.’ It was all very organic and, man, perfect. People have no idea how talented this guy is.” [source]

The new album is due for release on July 20 and will also feature a cover of the Jackson 5 classic “I Want You Back”, as well as original material.

The first single to be lifted from the set is the breezy “Summer Day” which I posted recently. I’d direct you to a link to listen to it, but the label have pulled it down everywhere from the net. God forbid that their artist may actually receive some promotion.

SNAPPED: Game & Justin Timberlake looking hot and filming new music video.

Posted in Candids on June 2nd, 2010 by The Prophet

My two baby daddies, Game & Justin Timberlake, have just released some official photo’s from the set of the music video for Game’s killer new single “Ain’t No Doubt About It”.

The retro, Neptunes produced “Ain’t No Doubt About It” is already one of the hottest singles of the year, and judging by these pics it looks like the video will be to!

It was shot last month in Long Beach, so it shouldn’t be too long until we get to see the Prince of Pop and the Hottie of Hip-Hop doing in action.

They’re so beautiful… I just can’t…

VIDEO: Esmee Denters Feat Justin Timberlake – Love Dealer.

Posted in Music Videos on April 28th, 2010 by The Prophet

It’s been a year since Youtube discovery Esmee Denters dropped her mildly successful debut album but she’s not calling it a wrap just yet, today releasing her third single from the record “Love Dealer”, which features her Tennman label boss Justin Timberlake.

The funky “Love Dealer” is one of the standout tracks from Esmee’s surprisingly solid Outta Here album, so it’s a bit of a disappointment that the music video is so unexciting and sorely lacking some much needed choreography.

It’s a great tune though and a Justin Timberlake feature usually guarantees some type of success, which is a good sign since the song is serving as Esmee’s first official international single (US and Australia included).

Besides if the States don’t work out Esmee always has the UK, where she scored a top ten hit with her first single “Outta Here” and just debuted at #3 with her feature on rapper Chipmunk’s “Until You Were Gone”.

There “Ain’t No Doubt About It”, Game’s new single with Justin Timberlake rocks!

Posted in New Music on April 27th, 2010 by The Prophet

Game’s next record The R.E.D. Album has suffered it’s fair share of setbacks lately with constant pushbacks and a few dud promo singles under it’s belt already, but now the rapper is ready to rock ‘n’ roll with his first official radio single “Ain’t No Doubt About It”.

The song is produced by The Neptunes and features Justin Timberlake, so you already know that it’s gonna be good. The production harks back to the early, old school Neptunes sounds from when Chad and Pharrell were in their prime, and the the computerized blips and beeps on the song sound like they’ve been lifted straight from an early Super Nintendo game.

It’s true, the 90′s really is back.

The R.E.D. Album drops June 15. I’m so there.

WATCH: JT and Esmee preview “Love Dealer” music video.

Posted in News on April 21st, 2010 by The Prophet

Just when I thought I was about to collapse to the ground gasping for air and clawing savagely at my face from severe lack of Justin Timberlake, my man and his little protege Esmee Denters popped up in the nick of time to flog their new video “Love Dealer” on Entertainment Tonight.

The pair gave ET a preview of the clip, and also talked about recording together and the rest of the usual stuff. JT made an interesting comment though when he spoke about signing Esmee to his label and giving her a lot of time to grow and development as an artist. These days major labels expect you to come to them basically ready to go, and once you don’t hit it big within a single or two you’re out the door, but it seems like Justin has more of the old school mentality when it comes to artist development.

Originally I thought his label Tennman Records was a bit of a vanity project, but now I’m seeing that he’s truly passionate about it and puts 100% into his artists. Maybe when Esmee gets around to doing her sophomore album she’ll find some more success.

SNAPPED! Justin Timberlake and Esmee Denters shoot “Love Dealer” music video

Posted in News on April 10th, 2010 by The Prophet

Pictured above is the first look at the music video for Esmee Denters new music video “Love Dealer”, featuring her Tennman Records label boss Justin Timberlake. {listen here}

The video was shot in downtown L.A. last month by The Malloys, who’s previous directing credits include Avril Lavigne’s “Girlfriend” and Ke$ha’s “Blah Blah Blah”.

According to a People the clip will show “the process of recording her song. Justin sends Esmée out into the world and watches her career take off as he looks down on her from a rooftop.”

If that’s the case then JT will be stuck on that rooftop for a while because Esmee’s last two singles didn’t manage to turn her into pop’s next big thing, and I don’t know if a third single this late into her album (it was released last May) will do the trick.

“Love Dealer” is a great song though so maybe JT’s magic touch will work it’s usual wonders and send Esmee to the top of the charts.

Justin Timberlake and Timbaland perform in Manila for benefit concert

Posted in Performances on March 28th, 2010 by The Prophet

Justin Timberlake, Timbaland and JoJo drew in a whopping 80,000 fans this weekend when they performed a benefit concert Manila to raise funds for last years floods.

JoJo kicked things off by opening the show, and then things really heated up when Timbaland performed material from his Shock Value II album and JT went through all the hits from his first two studio albums.

Check out Timbo and JT performing their hit “Carry Out” below. There weren’t watchable videos of JoJo uploaded so I didn’t include any of her, but she did say in a new interview that she’s just about to wrap up the recording of her new album All I Want is Everything, and that the first single will be out this summer.

Below the cut you can see some amazing videos of Justin performing “What Goes Around…”, “My Love”, “Cry Me a River”, “Sexy Back” and one of my personal faves “Until the End of Time”.

Swedish band Torpedo to collaborate with Justin Timberlake

Posted in News on March 26th, 2010 by The Prophet

He may not be releasing a new album any time soon, but that doesn’t mean that Justin Timberlake isn’t still dabbling in music after the Sexyback singer was pictured (above) in the studio with Swedish indie rock band Torpedo.

Last year the band posted on their MySpace page that they were working on a new album and were looking for new collaborators, and as a relatively unknown indie band they must have felt like they had hit the jackpot when they scored JT, who’s sold over 70 million records worldwide.

Torpedo said that they flew to L.A. earlier this month to finish up some material with Justin, but perhaps there could be more to this than a simple collaboration. Justin has expressed many times that he’s enjoying working on his record label Tennman Records, so perhaps he could be planning to sign the band to a US deal?

Interesting indeed. You can listen to one of Torpedo’s songs below “Accelerate” if you like.

Justin Timberlake discusses his future in music

Posted in News on March 20th, 2010 by The Prophet

Justin Timberlake’s riding high on the charts with Timbaland on “Carry Out”(#11 Hot 100 this week), but the 29-year-old is still waiting for that elusive burst of inspiration that’s going to send him back into the studio to record his long-awaited third studio album.

“I know from past experience that I put out my best stuff when it became undeniable that that was the only thing I was meant to be doing,” he says.

“Right now, I feel inspired by other things. The idea of doing a record to me is like climbing Mount Everest, and it should be. I think that until dreams about music start overpowering my sleep, I’m not going to think about it.”

Has he even any idea what style he’d like to pursue next? “I didn’t necessarily plan for the last album to sound so…” He pauses. “I didn’t plan the bravado. It’s something I played up on the records, but it wasn’t exactly who I was.

“But it was fun, and I think it was fun for everyone else too,” says Justin. “I try to approach music as a fan and remove myself from whatever my image might be to people. That’s what music should be. It can be a lot of things, but if it’s not fun, there’s no purpose.” {source}

To reiterate that music is the farthest thing from his mind, JT is tied up in some film projects including voicing Boo-Boo Bear in the CGI Yogi Bear movie, and starring alongside his ex-girlfriend Cameron Diaz in a new comedy Bad Teacher.

Please get that musical inspiration soon Justin… I’m feignin’ for a fix…

Is Justin Timberlake ready to record a new album? Nope!

Posted in News on February 20th, 2010 by The Prophet

After Justin Timberlake appeared in Timbalands “Carry Out” video it sparked the question as to whether or not he was planning to return to music soon. Well JT has answered that question, and the answer is basically a bit fat NO.

“You know, music is … music exploration, I find that when it comes up … it comes up like a freight train,” he said. “So when it does, I definitely won’t run from it.”

“Right now I’m enjoying working with new artists, working with some of the acts that I have signed to my little label, which I just started,” he explained. {source}

For the record when the interviewer asked him this he seemed very uninterested in discussing his own music, like it was the the furthest thing from his mind.

In addition to working on his label Tennman Records and his budding acting career JT is also tied up with business partner Trace Ayala as they try to expand their successful clothing line William Rast.

At least he lets his creativity and inspiration dictate his music though instead of success and money. He reminds me a lot of Janet actually who used to take huge breaks in between some of her albums, but when she finally did release something it was always much better than many other pop artists who would just churn out album after album.

Your Justin Timberlake fix has arrived – The “Carry Out” video has premiered

Posted in Music Videos on February 19th, 2010 by The Prophet

If you’re like me and you’ve felt your life force rapidly depleting due to lack of Justin Timberlake then you can breathe a sigh of relief because the Prince of Pop has managed to tear himself away from playing golf and making mediocre movies to film the music video for “Carry Out”, which is the latest single from Timbaland’s Shock Value II.

The previous videos from Shock Value II haven’t been anything to write home about so I’m pleased to say that Timbo has finally gotten it right this time around with the stylish late night drive-thru theme of “Carry Out”.

So far the song has reached #11 on the Hot 100 making it the biggest hit from timbo’s under-performing Shock Value II, once again proving that in most cases anything involving Justin Timberlake is destined to reach the top end of the charts.

Now when will JT give the musical charity a rest and start making hits of his own again! The wait for his next album is excruciating, but I appreciate that he takes time out and picks his projects carefully because it really reflects in the quality of his music.
