Cheryl Cole to work with Ne-Yo on her sophomore album.

Posted in News on July 13th, 2010 by The Prophet

While Cheryl Cole is strapped down to a hospital bed, delusional and fighting off the ravages of malaria, R&B singer-songwriter Ne-Yo has come forward to let the world know that he’s planning to hit the studio with CC soon to work on her sophomore solo album, and to help her crack the States.

“We’ve been talking about doing some stuff together. Although nothing has happened so far, Cheryl is definitely on the list”. He also adds: “She’s gorgeous. She can sing. She can dance. I don’t see why she wouldn’t do well [in the US]. All she needs is already there – she just needs the right song. All she needs is a good record”. {source}

I don’t know about her singing, but he got two out of three right. In addition to Ne-Yo, Cheryl is also working with Ellie Goulding, Ryan Tedder and Will.i.am on music for her sophomore album. She’s also reportedly inked a US record deal with the Will.i.am Music Group, which is also home to Kelis, Black Eyed Peas, Natalia Kills, Fergie and the Paradiso Girls.

It’s notoriously hard for female artists outside of the States to crack the country, but Cheryl seems to have a lot of heavy hitters in her corner who are determined to make her an American pop star.

Cheryl Cole signs US deal with Will.i.am’s label: American takeover in the works.

Posted in News on June 11th, 2010 by The Prophet

British chart topper Cheryl Cole has inked a US record deal with the Will.i.am Music Group and is currently in the process of planning her American debut. Or at least that’s what Will.i.am is telling us.

“Cheryl’s dope, I like collaborating with her. We’ve talked about working on her next album, plus we signed her to the label in America. We’re figuring out how we go about it in the States. It has to be something really incredible done in a different way.” [source]

If Will’s statement is correct, then that would put Cheryl on the same label as The Black Eyed Peas, Fergie, Kelis, Natalia Kills and Paradiso Girls.

At the moment Cheryl has been touring Europe playing various shows to promote her hugely-successful solo debut 3 Words, as well as recording with Ryan Tedder amongst others for the follow-up.

CC’s first album was incredibly hit-and-miss, but with the right music she could definitely make an impact on the States. She’s got the looks, the connections and she’s a great performer.

Video: Cheryl Cole performs @ Radio 1′s Big Weekend.

Posted in Performances on May 23rd, 2010 by The Prophet

English superstar Cheryl Cole was one of the biggest performers at Radio 1′s Big Weekend festival yesterday, pulling the largest crowd out of anyone else on the festival bill when she performed a four-song set on the main stage.

The British chart topper still can’t sing to save her life, but as usual the performances were all on point, especially “Fight For This Love” which featured a new, Janet-style military dance break, as well as the “Show Me Love” mash-up from her show stopping Brit Awards performance.

Cheryl is currently working on her sophomore album with Will.i.am, Ellie Goulding and Ryan Tedder, and will also return to screens later this year as a judge on The X-Factor.

Anyway, check out Cheryl’s performances of “Fight For This Love”, “Parachute”, “Rain On Me” and an unnecessary cover of the annoying Owl City hit “Fireflies”.

Ellie Goulding pens tunes for Cheryl Cole sophomore album.

Posted in News on May 17th, 2010 by The Prophet

Cheryl Cole has enlisted indie-pop princess Ellie Goulding to pen some tunes for her upcoming sophomore album.

Singer-songwriter Ellie has made quite a splash on the scene this year, debuting at #1 on the charts with her debut album Lights and winning the Critics Choice Award at the 2010 Brit Awards.

In addition to Ellie, Cheryl’s been working with producer Ryan Tedder, recording some “quirky dance” music with the egotistical ‘Apologize’ singer.

After the huge success of Cheryl’s first album 3 Words, word now has it that her label are planning to capitalize off her solo status by launching her next album worldwide.

Could Cheryl be our next international pop princess?

Cheryl Cole continues to fight her way through Europe, one performance at a time.

Posted in Performances on April 11th, 2010 by The Prophet

Earlier today I did a post about British pop princess Cheryl Cole and her recent performance on the Norwegian talk show Skavlan, but that was only one small top on her current European promo tour.

Over the weekend Cheryl also performed “Fight For This Love” on the Dutch version of The X Factor, as well as German chat show Schlag den Raab.

Both performances were brilliant and Cheryl really owned the stage and busted out some great choreography. I’m not going to name names but there are a lot of other pop stars who aren’t very gifted in the vocal department who could take a few tips from Cheryl on how to put on a good performance when you’re not necessarily the best singer.

You don’t need to be Paula Abdul or Janet Jackson to put on a good show, it just takes a little extra effort.

I’d love to see Cheryl release her sophomore album internationally and experience worldwide success like Kylie Minogue did in 2001 with Fever.

Cheryl Cole performs “Fight For This Love” in Norway

Posted in Performances on April 11th, 2010 by The Prophet

Cheryl Cole has been busy the past week doing some international promo for her hugely successful solo album 3 Words, stopping by Norwegian talk show Skavlan for a quick interview and a performance her first single “Fight For This Love”.

Her vocals during the performance were quite good by her standards, but she seemed to sacrifice a bit of the choreography for the sake of her voice. She threw in a fun dance break right at the end though, so that balanced things out a little.

Besides fending off the tabloids who want to pester her about her impending divorce, Cheryl is also recording her second solo album which should be due out some time this year. Her debut 3 Words has already sold over a whopping 750,000 copies in the UK alone, and her popularity has grown since it was released last year so I can only imagine how huge her next record is going to be.

Cheryl Cole performs “Parachute” on Sports Relief

Posted in Performances on March 19th, 2010 by The Prophet

Cheryl Cole’s personal life may be down the toilet but her career is hotter than ever, so the British pop princess painted on a smile with lipstick and pushed her marriage woes aside to deliver a great performance of her top ten hit “Parachute”.

She can’t really sing but I’m a huge fan of Cheryl’s performances because not only is she great to look at *rubs eyes in disbelief at Cheryls beauty*, but she also makes sure to generally include a lot of choreography when she performs.

Besides promoting “Parachute” and her debut album 3 Words, CC is also working on brand new music for release later this year with Ryan Tedder.

No new Girls Aloud this year? Cheryl announces plans for more solo music.

Posted in News on March 19th, 2010 by The Prophet

Last year Britains biggest girl group Girls Aloud promised that they’d return from their 12 month hiatus to release a brand new studio album some time during 2010, but now those plans are looking much less likely with the bands most popular member Cheryl Cole announcing that she’ll be releasing more solo material at the end of the year.

Cole told MTV News: “I’m actually recording some new material and going on tour with The Black Eyed Peas which is exciting and scary. Hopefully later on in the year I’ve got some new stuff to release.”

She continued: “I want it to be amazing, you know? I want people to be like, ‘Wow, I really, really enjoy this album’, so I’m not going to put anything out until I feel like that.”

Cheryl’s already been in the studio with the annoying Ryan Tedder recording some “quirky dance” music, for what is either a brand new studio album or a possible reissue of her super successful debut 3 Words.

It’s not just Cheryl doing the solo thing either, with bandmate Nadine Coyle working hard on her own solo album with Tiesto, William Orbit and Tony Kanal.

You don’t need to stress about the bands future because they’ve got three albums left in their record contract with Fascination/Polydor, but it could be a while before we see Girls Aloud back in the studio together.

Now let’s take a look back to when Cheryl was still a Tweedy and Nicola was addicted to fake tanning, and the girls released one of their most trashtastic singles ever “Long Hot Summer”.

Cheryl Cole storms the stage with Brit Awards Performance

Posted in Performances on February 16th, 2010 by The Prophet

Since Lady GaGa decided to leave the blood and bathtubs at home for her Brit Awards performance it was up to Cheryl Cole to be the big flashy popstar of the night with her performance of her #1 single “Fight For This Love”.

Cheryl even made sure that she catered to the gays when she surrounded herself with a troupe of shirtless sweaty men in a move that would make Kylie proud (and jealous).

She may not be able to carry a tune in a bucket but she’s proven herself to be quite a good performer with her on-stage dance moves and theatrics.

American audiences may even get a chance to see Chezza work the stage up in the future if her upcoming Ryan Tedder produced 3 Words re-release ends up hitting US shores.

Cheryl Cole puts on her dancing shoes for “Parachute” video

Posted in Music Videos on January 31st, 2010 by The Prophet

The very attractive Cheryl Cole is still bangin’ out the singles from her multi-platinum solo debut 3 Words, last night releasing the music video for her third single “Parachute”.

As with all of CC’s video’s the singer has kept things classy and gone for a stylish high-fashion look, making the 26-year-old look more like a supermodel shooting a designer ad campaign rather than a pop star dancing around in a music video.

Cheryl’s next single will mostly like be a song from the upcoming re-release of her 3 Words album which she’s currently recording with Ryan Tedder, who recently announced that he’s trying to get the Girls Aloud star to record a song he originally produced for Alicia Keys The Element of Freedom.

Ryan Tedder gives Cheryl Cole an Alicia Keys leftover and takes a swipe at Britney

Posted in Beef, News on January 25th, 2010 by The Prophet

My loyal reader Yumm showed me this article yesterday, but I held off on posting it because at the time I had already done two Ryan Tedder posts in a row.

Anyways Ryan Tedder is back at it again, this time discussing Cheryl Cole’s upcoming US debut album which he has been heavily involved in, revealing that he’s anxious to get an Alicia Keys leftover song from The Element of Freedom in Cheryl’s hands

“There’s a song I did with Alicia Keys that was finished too late for her album and I’m convinced it’s the perfect song for Cheryl Cole,” he told Digital Spy.

“I’m desperately trying to get the demo out of her label’s grasp so I can play it for Cheryl. It’s a ballad in my sense, so it’s got massive drums and it really moves, and it’ll give you goosebumps when you hear it.”

It’s a ballad in “my sense”? So I assume we’ll be getting another recycled Halo/Already Gone beat then?

Continuing on, Tedder further discussed the sound he was after for Cheryl Cole; and made sure to take a stab at Britney Spears in the process.

“Cheryl likes something real,” he said. “I had a long meeting with the head of her label and he said she doesn’t want kitschy throwaway dance anthems – basically if Britney would sing it, she doesn’t want it.”

If Britney’s songs are so kitschy then why are so many of her hits considered pop classics that are continually covered by more ‘credible’ artists such as Lily Allen, Kate Miller-Heidke, Hard-Fi, The Dresden Dolls and countless others? You can justifiably call Britney untalented and manufactured if you so choose, but at the end of the day she wouldn’t have reached her phenomenal success without at least having great songs.

First Tedder made catty remarks about Hilary Duff, then he roasted Kelly Clarkson and now Britney. Who’s next?

Anyways Alicia Keys was obviously smart enough to not hold onto Tedder ballad, so hopefully Cheryl has enough sense to do the same.

Cheryl Cole hits the studio with Ryan Tedder for US debut

Posted in News on January 18th, 2010 by The Prophet

Reports from both the Daily Star and USA Today are claiming that only 3 months after releasing her debut album 3 Words, UK sensation Cheryl Cole is already working on the follow-up and has enlisted Ryan Tedder to lend a hand.

The new album is reportedly being crafted with US audiences in mind to help Cheryl crack the notoriously difficult American market, which shouldn’t be too hard if the rumors about her judging on the US X Factor turn out to be true.

“I got into England early on Saturday and went straight into the studio with Cheryl,” Ryan told the Daily Star. “We’re going to try and take the dance thing in a quirky new direction and make it a little more funky. I’m very excited about the tracks. I’m not going to turn her into something weird but it’s different to anything she’s done.

“Cheryl’s about as famous as J-Lo was in her heyday but she’s so nice and genuine. Cheryl said there are songs Americans can get away with and she can’t. It’s typical for a successful American female to put out a song about how famous or rich they are. But that’s not a British thing to do. Cheryl connects with being real and this is what the songs are about.”

Cheryl’s solo debut 3 Words has already sold over 600k in the UK alone off the back of only two singles, and with a third single “Parachute” on the way the sales could climb much higher.

Although the Daily Star specifically mention that Cheryl is recording her sophomore album, other reports are claiming that the new tracks are for a re-vamped deluxe version of 3 Words set to be released in the US later this year.

I just hope this time around that Cheryl releases an album with more than two good songs on it!
