MUSIC VIDEOS: Angie Stone – I Ain’t Hearin’ U / Crookers Feat Kelis – No Security

Posted in Music Videos on November 17th, 2009 by The Prophet

Soul sister Angie Stone shows off her sassy side in the music video for her new single “I Ain’t Hearin’ U”, taken from the R&B divas fifth studio album Unexpected.

This song has been giving me everything that I need since it leaked, and now the video is doing just the same! Angie’s facial expressions and hand movements were absolutely priceless.
Every time she wagged her finger and swivelled her head all I could hear in my head was “Gurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrl!”

Of course with the good comes the bad, in the form of the Crookers new music video for their Kelis assisted single “No Security”. You can’t even call this video a hot mess because it’s on a whole nother level. The good news however is that the song is still a certified BANGER.

Check it out below the cut… if you dare!

PROMO PICS: Angie Stone “Unexpected”

Posted in Photoshoots on November 6th, 2009 by The Prophet

Neo-soul singer Angie Stone has unveiled some official promo pics from her fifth album Unexpected, which drops November 24.

“I wanted this album to be something different. I didn’t want to make the kind of neo-soul record I had made in the past. That would have been repetitive.”

I see she’s trying to sex things up for this new record. She looks good but she needs to put the tig ole biddies away because they nearly cracked my computer screen in half when I opened the picture up.

Listen to the extended clips from her album here. It sounds pretty good.

ALBUM COVER: Angie Stone “Unexpected”

Posted in New Music on October 20th, 2009 by The Prophet

Above is the official artwork for soul singer Angie Stone’s new album Unexpected, which is due in stores Nov 24th.

“You can expect to be surprised.” says Angie on her new album. “Pleasantly surprised, I hope. You’ve got some classic Angie Stone there, and some Angie Stone that’s a little adventurous. I feel like I’ve been working long and hard enough that I’m in a position to try some new things.”

Oooh, I see that Angie is sexing things up for this cover, and I like it! She’s representing real women. It’s a shame the album is going to flop though, but at least the music will be good and that’s all I really care about. I’m addicted to her new single “I Ain’t Hearin’ U” so make sure you check it out by clicking here if you haven’t already heard it.

NEW MUSIC! Angie Stone – I Ain’t Hearin’ U [1st Single]

Posted in New Music on October 5th, 2009 by The Prophet

Soul sister Angie Stone is back with “I Ain’t Hearin’ U”, the first single from her upcoming fifth album Unexpected. Angie promised that we’d hear some new things on the album so check out the single below.

Angie Stone – I Ain’t Hearin’ U
[1st Single]

This is really good! It’s got a great old-school pop/soul sound to it, and it’s a little more mature than the other R&B up-tempos you hear on the radio. Angie also shows that less is more by not over-doing any of the vocals like some younger singers do these days. I also like how lyrically Angie has turned the tables by choosing to sing from the perspective of a woman who’s possibly in denial about her relationship and doesn’t want a bar of the drama, regardless of whether it’s true or not. It’s a nice change from the usual “woman scorned” lyrics that we usually hear.

I really hope this do well on urban radio and manages to get high on the R&B/Hip-Hop charts.

Angie Stone announces new album “Unexpected” for Autumn release

Posted in News on September 9th, 2009 by The Prophet

Neo-soul singer Angie Stone has announced that she will her fifth studio album “Unexpected” this Autumn.

“It’s titled “Unexpected,’” reveals Stone. “And you can expect to be surprised. Pleasantly surprised, I hope. You’ve got some classic Angie Stone there, and some Angie Stone that’s a little adventurous. I feel like I’ve been working long and hard enough that I’m in a position to try some new things.”

The album will serve as the follow-up to 2007’s “The Art Of Love & War”, which debuted at #11 on the Billboard charts, and produced the moderate R&B hit “Baby”. Stone is still best known for her 2002 hit single “Wish I Didn’t Miss You”.

I’m glad that Angie is coming back soon. She’s never had a huge amount of success like some of the other popular neo-soul singers, but she’s always hanging around and usually comes back with a hit on the R&B charts every now and then. She’s very talented and I’m definitely interested in hearing the new record, but to me she’ll never top that gay club mix of “Wish I Didn’t Miss You”. That’s my jam!
