Amerie gets her business affairs in order for impending “pop” album.

Posted in News on August 30th, 2010 by The Prophet

The incredibly talented musical goddess Ameriiiiiiiiiiiie (pictured above on August 21) has signed with a brand new PR company to handle the release of her upcoming fifth album, Cymatika Vol. 1.

“I am so excited to be working with the super talented Ameriie again! I love this new thing of being able to look after non-Sony artists” her new publicist Tweeted earlier. “New album is a pop album and first single is amazing!” Via Toyaz-World.

“Pop” album, eh? It looks like Ameriieieiehdhfkfe wasn’t kidding when she said that she’d be bringing some of the influences from her New Wave masterpiece Because I Love It, over to her Cymatika album.

Besides going pop again, Ameriiambetterthanbeyonceandrihanna is also recording her new album in “DNA Repairing Frequency” to ensure that it’s a hit.

“Amerie is going all out to ensure the project is a success by recording her new tunes in frequency 528 Hz (DNA repair). Apparently, such frequency in music is known for healing the soul. Cymatics, which is the study of visible sound and vibration, is a subset of modal phenomena and she wants her fans to enjoy the full total experience.” {Source}.

Ameriie has clearly gone insane, but that’s OK, because many of the world’s greatest scholars and artists throughout history weren’t all there in the head, and just look at the types of things they went on to create. If I had finished high school, maybe I could even name a few of them for you…

Amerie changes her name; Last.fm users not happy.

Posted in News on July 16th, 2010 by The Prophet

R&B singer Amerie has done something incredibly annoying — she’s changed her name to “Ameriie“. Notice the extra ‘i’?

Apparently the extra letter in her name reflects positive energy, and will help usher in her new album era as she prepares to release her fifth record Cymatika Vol. 1.

“I operate on vibes and intuition, and I believe everything is energy; the vibration of the double I is right for me,” She tells Rap-Up exclusively. “Slightly different spelling, completely same pronunciation!”

That’s all well and good, but what about the 30-40,000,000 people that use Last.fm? Well, to be more exact, the 429,603 on the site that actually listen to Amerie, and have racked up 3,663,188 scrobbles of her songs.

I sure as hell won’t be changing the spelling of her name and losing all my Amerie scrobbes! The same thing happened when The Game dropped the ‘the’ from his name, changing it to simply ‘Game’. He was approaching my top ten most listened to artists of all time, but then when he changed his name I’ve been unable to listen to his music ever since, because whenever I try I start freaking out over what to scrobble him under.

Furious right now!

Electrik Red and Amerie discuss their upcoming albums.

Posted in Interviews, News on July 1st, 2010 by The Prophet

Two of the most underrated women in urban music, Amerie and Binkie from Electrik Red, caught up with Rap-Up recently for a special in which they actually interviewed each other about their respective new albums.

The girls don’t reveal much, with Amerie calling her new sound “international”, which we already know means that she is probably referring to some of the elements from her New-wave/80′s pop record Because I Love It.

Binkie on the other hand, also described Electrik Red’s upcoming How to be a Lady Vol. 2 as being “international”, but just what she means by that exactly is unclear. After the fresh Dream & Tricky beats that flooded the ladies almost flawless debut, I’m a little worried that they’re jumping into some super commercial dance-pop to get a hit. I hope I’m wrong.

Check out the interview below.

Amerie returns to “New Wave & 80′s” sounds for upcoming LP.

Posted in News on June 17th, 2010 by The Prophet

One of the baddest chicks in the game, Amerie, has thrilled her fans today by revealing on Twitter that, for her upcoming new album, she’ll be returning to the 80′s, New Wave influences that fueled her critically acclaimed 2007 LP Because I Love It.

She also continued on to say that her new album (titled “Cymatica Vol. I”) will be “completely different” to last years urban-rock experiment In Love & War.

Amerie + New Wave & 80′s = music of epic proportions.

I’m sure it’ll flop again, but as it sounds great I don’t mind.

Amerie’s music is actually so genuinely good that I think she should try and position herself closer to the alternative music scene, rather than continually trying to get up in a Beyonce/Rihanna world. Amerie already has a lot of critical success and with the right moves she could really position herself in the same field as artists like Robyn, Janelle Monae and Kid Cudi, who manage to crossover into the more indie, Pitchfork world and have a lot of success doing it.

Amerie to return this year with fifth LP “Cymatica Vol. 1!”

Posted in News on May 20th, 2010 by The Prophet

R&B innovator Amerie has confirmed exclusively to Rap-Up that her just released ‘buzz’ track “Who’s Gonna Love You” is in fact a single from her upcoming fifth studio album.

The album’s official title is Cymatica Vol. 1, which is a reference to the Greek word ‘Cymantic’, meaning the study of visible sound and vibration.

So far the only confirmed producer is The Inkredibles, who helmed “Who’s Gonna Love You” and are best known for creating hip-hop beats for artists like Game, Rick Ross and Young Jeezy.

Amerie’s last album In Love & War was released in November, bombing on the Billboard charts at #46. It was however praised by critics, just as all of Amerie’s previous efforts have been in the past, peaking with 2007′s Because I Love It which received several 5/5 reviews.

Cymatica Vol.1 will definitely be one of 2010′s best urban releases. Are you excited?

Amerie releases new song Who’s Gonna Love You?. Remains R&B’s most underrated female artist.

Posted in New Music on May 19th, 2010 by The Prophet

The always amazing Amerie unleashed a special surprise onto her fans today by releasing a brand new song titled “Who’s Gonna Love You?” via her Twitter [and Yk2 Daily].

In the new song Amerie calls out an ex-boyfriend over a knocking hip-hop beat, blasting him for leaving her for another relationship that didn’t work and then flipping him off like yesterday’s news with a simple question: “Who’s gonna love you like I did?”.

At the moment the song just appears to be just a buzz track (for now), but the song is so damn good that it could easily serve as a new single. It sounds closest to something from her last album In Love & War, but there’s also elements from some of Amerie’s other sterling efforts like Touch and even Because I Love It.

Basically it’s another incredible effort from the girl who continues to be R&B’s most underrated female artist.

Amerie announces new single “Who’s Gonna Love You?”.

Posted in News on May 19th, 2010 by The Prophet

Amerie’s last album In Love & War sunk without a trace after it’s release last November, but just over 6 months after it’s release Amerie has dusted herself off and announced that she has a brand new record dropping titled “Who’s Gonna Love You?” at midnight.

TOMORROW AT MIDNITE….ASK YOURSELF ‘WHO’S GONNA ♥ YOU?’ NEW RECORD BY AMERIE MAY 20TH 12:01 EST VIA TWITURM

No word yet on whether the track is a new single, for a re-release, a buzz song or just something for the fans, but back in March Amerie revealed that she was already thinking about her next album and hoping to incorporate the vibe from her Because I Love It album on the new one.

She also said that she “might” work with her 1 Thing producer Rich Harrison again.

This new song is definitely unexpected, but it’s a very welcome surprise!

Amerie performs “Heard Em All” with 4minute in Korea

Posted in Performances on March 24th, 2010 by The Prophet

The States haven’t shown much interest in poor Amerie and her new album In Love & War, so the sexy and talented singer packed her bags and took her music over to Korea to see if the audiences abroad would be more receptive to it than the yanks have been.

One of the first steps on her international promo tour of the country was the KIA Motors Auto Show, where she performed the official remix to her single “Heard Em’ All” with popular Korean girl group 4minute.

The performance is basically the same as all of Amerie’s other “Heard Em All” performances, just with more Korean’s this time, but it was pretty good and the addition of the girl group helped keep things interesting.

Amerie talks next album and reuniting with Rich Harrison

Posted in News on March 20th, 2010 by The Prophet

During a new interview with British DJ Julie Ann, singer-songwriter Amerie announced that she’s already thinking about what direction she will go in for her next album, and that she hopes to revisit the sound she explored on her poppier, 80′s and new wave-inspired 2007 album Because I Love It.

“The next album, because I’m always already thinking about sounds, I definitely want to incorporate that sound [from In Love & War] as well as mixing some of the vibe I had on Because I Love It. Those sounds, arrangements, harmonies and song structure. It’ll be pretty interesting.” {Via Toyaz-World}

Amerie also went on to say that she’s interested in working with producer Rich Harrison again (“1 Thing”), and that the pair “might” reunite when she decides to start recording her next album.

It’s still early days yet and Amerie is still focusing on promoting her current album In Love & War internationally, but I’m beyond excited to know that she might return to the sounds of Because I Love It in the future. It’s my favorite album of hers and it’s her most critically acclaimed.

It’s also an added bonus to know that we could be getting some more Amerie and Rich Harrison collaborations in the future, because anybody that owns Amerie’s first two albums knows that the pair have created some real R&B magic together.

Now just for fun here’s one of my fave tracks from Because I Love It, “Some Like It”. Check it out below. Read more »

MUSIC VIDEO: Amerie Feat Fabolous – More Than Love

Posted in Music Videos on December 24th, 2009 by The Prophet

With a little help from rapper Fabolous, Amerie continues to flog the dead horse that is her latest album In Love & War with the video to her new single “More Than Love”.

You know ya girl Amerie was probably on a budget for this video, but she really made it work and delivered a fantastic clip. It was cinematic, exciting, had a great storyline and the argument in the middle was priceless.

Amerie’s got the talent, the style, the sound and the look… so wake up and go buy the damn album!

Amerie shoots “More Than Love” video with Fabolous

Posted in Candids on December 15th, 2009 by The Prophet

Contrary to popular belief Amerie’s In Love & War isn’t quite dead just yet, with new photo’s surfacing online from the set of the albums new single “More Than Love” featuring rapper Fabolous. You can listen to the track above.

What happened to “Pretty Brown” with Trey Songz?

I’m shocked that they’ve given Amerie a new video after the album debuted at #46 on the charts with only 12k sold. I have a feeling that Amerie is funding the majority of these videos herself since she’s signed to her own label Pheenx Rising, which is under Def Jam.

Maybe instead of churning out videos and singles though Def Jam and Amerie could’ve focused on actually promoting the ones they had out? Amerie isn’t Britney Spears, she can’t just throw out a video and have it go number one. She needs promotion.

Anyways regardless of the sales and promotion In Love & War is a fantastic album and I’m glad that it’s getting more videos. It’s just a shame that there probably won’t be anybody around to watch them…

Amerie shoots for Honey magazine

Posted in News, Photoshoots on November 23rd, 2009 by The Prophet

The beautiful & very photogenic Amerie is the latest lady to score a feature in Honey Magazine, where she dishes out some relationship advice, plugs her new album In Love & War, discusses Twitter, and talks about why she moved to Def Jam.

The reason I went to Def Jam was specifically because of the company — their marketing and promotions team. [Source]

I guess Amerie has been deaf and blind living under a rock in Siberia for the past ten years, because if she had any contact with the human race she’d know that the only females that get promoted at Def Jam are Rihanna and Mariah.

Maybe Amerie should have a chat to Electrik Red some time?
