HILARIOUS: 50 Cent working on “up-tempo dance” album

Posted in News on March 14th, 2010 by The Prophet

50 Cent may be a little late to the party, but after his last album Before I Self Destruct tanked (it barely reached Gold) he’s now working on the follow-up titled Black Magic, which will hitch a ride on the new dance bandwagon that’s ruling popular music right now.

“I went to a nightclub after-party. It was different music after a while,” 50 Cent said, recognizing that the club altered their set to play his own catalog. “The music they were playin’ before they were playin’ the music I created was more up-tempo, more Dance. I wanted to make a song like that, so I went into the studio.

“I’m excited about it too, it has a total [sic] different vibe,” revealed 50. “I won’t allow myself to be placed in a box where I can only do one style, or do one kind of music. They should expect the unexpected on this one. If they can understand how I enjoy different genres of music and different styles, for the people who have various tastes in music, they’ll really like it.” {source}

Fiddy is easy to laugh at but Before I Self Destruct was actually a good rap album. He’s definitely lost his mojo though. Kanye West may be an egotistical douche but he’s a musical genius who knows sets trends in music, first experimenting with dance influences with his #1 single “Stronger” back in 2007, followed by his urban-electronica masterpiece 808′s & Heartbreaks in 2008.

Kid Cudi is another rapper who experimented with dance and pop sounds back in 2008 with “Day n Nite” and “Embrace the Martian”. 50 Cent finally deciding to experiment with new genres in 2010 just shows how behind the times he really is.

As Mariah would say… “It’s a wrap!”

COVER GIRLS! Lady GaGa / Jennifer Lopez / Game / 50 Cent / Teyana Taylor / Teairra Mari

Posted in Photoshoots on January 5th, 2010 by The Prophet

944 magazine have put a doily in a pink wig on the cover of their latest issue. Oh wait that’s just Lady GaGa.

Also striking a pose is Jennifer Lopez, who’s on the cover of the latest issue of Latina magazine and also has the cover of the upcoming issue of Elle where she’ll be talking about her new album Love?

Representing the fellas we’ve got my baby daddy Game covering The Source to promote his upcoming album, and 50 Cent flexing for Muscle & Fitness magazine.

Last and probably least are Teyana Taylor and my girl Teairra Mari who look like two angry lesbians on the cover of Kontrol.

Do you think about 50 Cent? Anybody? Helloooo…?

Posted in Music Videos on December 9th, 2009 by The Prophet

After his new album Before I Self Destruct tumbled down the Billboard charts from #5 to #20 in it’s second week out, rapper 50 Cent has wasted no time in dropping the video for his official second single “Do You Think About Me”.

The clip features his ex-girlfriend Vivica A Fox, as well as Joe Buddens ex girlfriend and popular booty model Tahiry.

This is one of my fave tracks from Fiddy’s new album and I think the clip does it justice. BISD is actually good so I’d like to see it do better than it is now, but since this song hasn’t made any major moves on the charts yet I don’t see sales picking up any time soon.

Leona Lewis suffers the sophomore slump and 50 Cent flops on the Billboard charts

Posted in News on November 25th, 2009 by The Prophet

50 Cent’s new album Before I Self Destruct has disappointed in this weeks Billboard charts, only managing to sell 160k to debut at #5.

The sales are a far cry from the rappers glory days when his last album Curtis sold 691k in it’s first week back in 2007.

Also set for chart shame is Leona Lewis, who won’t be too happy when she see’s that her sophomore album Echo has only sold 67k, completely missing the top ten at #13.

One person that’ll be be in a good mood this week though is John Mayer who’s topped the charts for the second time in his career with his album Battle Studies selling 285k.

Meanwhile HDD have released their official predictions for next week, indicating that Rihanna may just sell more than the pitiful 162k that was prediected for her by Billboard Biz.

Susan Boyle – 600k +

Adam Lambert – 210-230k

Lady GaGa – 180-200k

Rihanna – 180-200k

Shakira – 80-90k

Jay Sean – 30-35k

I guess Rihanna’s one dollar downloads are paying off. As for Leona, girlfriend better get it together or Echo will be finished before it’s even started.

Congratulations to John Mayer though because Battle Studies is a great album and deserves to be #1.

50 Cent blames early leak for poor “Before I Self Destruct” sales predictions

Posted in News on November 20th, 2009 by The Prophet

With sales predictions for 50 Cent’s new album Before I Self Destruct failing to come close to the rappers previous chart toppers, the blame has to go somewhere, and Fiddy is pointing his finger squarely at the person who leaked the album a month before it’s scheduled release date.

“With the actual outcome of the project, once the record leaks from the international plant, what more can I do,” 50 explained in an interview. “I can’t, I held the record long enough to get it to them, to mix and master it and for them to ship it and then it leaks from the plant internationally, I’m like come on, then that’s it. They lost the ball. You know what I mean, if the numbers look funny to me, it’s they fault.” [source]

Do you think the early leak affected his sales in a significant way, is it the actual quality of the music on the album itself, or are people just over Fiddy?

50 Cent performs new single “Do You Think About Me” / BISD album bombs on the charts

Posted in News, Performances on November 19th, 2009 by The Prophet

After the moderate success of his single “Baby By Me”, rapper 50 Cent has wasted no time moving onto the next hit with “Do You Think About Me”, performing the song tonight on Jimmy Kimmell Live.

I think this is a great track and it’s one of my favourites from his new album Before I Self Destruct, which honestly isn’t as bad as some people are trying to make out.

The general buying public obviously don’t agree with me though, with HitsDoubleDaily estimating that Fiddy will only sell about 150k of the new album, putting it at around #3 or #4.

Most other artists would be happy with those numbers, but by 50′s standards it’s totally dismal and a definite flop, especially considering that 2007′s Curtis sold 691k in it’s first week. Hell even Carrie Underwood managed 318k the other week for her new album Play On.

Are 50′s days of being a big rapper over with now?

50 CENT: Performance & Interview on Conan O’Brian

Posted in Interviews, Performances on November 18th, 2009 by The Prophet

With his new album Before I Self Destruct instores now, rapper 50 Cent out is out on the promo grind stopping by Conan O’Brian to perform his hit single “Baby By Me”, and also sitting down for a chat.

I guess Fiddy really wants “Baby By Me” to be a crossover hit if he’s out performing it on shows like Conan.

Peep the full interview below the cut. It’s pretty funny, 50 talks about Bette Midler and this crazy nerd on Youtube who called him a sellout. Good stuff!

50 Cent scores double XXL cover

Posted in Photoshoots on November 9th, 2009 by The Prophet

Rapper 50 Cent has scored a special double cover for XXL’s upcoming December/January issue.

Inside Fiddy will discuss his new album Before I Self Destruct, his role in hip-hop, and the huge success of his website thisis50.com.

I have nothing against 50 but couldn’t he have come up with something more original than him sitting there counting money? Been there done that.

Anyways his new album drops November 16, and features hit new hit single “Baby By Me”. The follow-up single will be “Do You Think About Me”.

His album isn’t actually that bad, so I’m dying to see what it will do on the Billboard charts since he has a reputation for doing big numbers.

50 Cent promotes new cologne and confirms next single

Posted in Candids, New Music on November 6th, 2009 by The Prophet

[Download Link]

Rapper 50 Cent was snapped yesterday (Nov 5) promoting his new cologne “Power by Fifty Cent” at Macy’s in New York City.

He also confirmed the next single off his new album Before I Self Destruct (Nov 16) will be the auto-tuned midtempo “Do You Think About Me”, with a video being shot this week. You can listen to the song under the picture at the top.

He’ll also drop a promo video for his song “Stretch” which will premiere on his official website on Thursday.

“Do You Think About Me” is a pretty good song and I think it’ll make a good single because of it’s commercial radio appeal. I’m really curious to see how much his new album will sell. “Baby By Me” made a big jump this week to #33 on the Hot 100, so if it keeps rising and ends up in the top 10 then he could end up doing some decent numbers.

50 Cent speaks “The difference between Kelly and Beyoncé is the extreme focus they put on Beyoncé!”

Posted in News on November 4th, 2009 by The Prophet

During a new interview with Billboard rapper 50 Cent has confirmed what anybody with half a brain has already known for years, speaking out about the differences between Destiny’s Child divas Kelly Rowland and Beyonce.

“You can’t forget all the work she did with Destiny’s Child. The difference between Kelly and Beyonce is the extreme focus they put on Beyonce to make sure she was completely right. Kelly wasn’t held in the same regard, so, in order for her to mean anything to America, they’d have to match the marketing dollars spent on Beyonce. She never received the superstar treatment.”

This has been pretty obvious for years now, and is further proven every time Beyonce or Matthew Knowles get caught up in one of their lies. Beyonce was programmed like a robot from birth to be an all singing, all dancing machine designed to earn money and power, losing any real personality that she may have had in the process. During that time certain people needed to be sacrificed, one of them being Kelly Rowland.

Beyonce is just a tool of her father. Her success is not only owed to her beauty, performance skills and great vocals, but also to shady business deals, deceptive marketing and fraud. She’s put across like this independent diva, yet she’s never been without a powerful man controlling her every move (Matthew, Jay). She’s marketed as a songwriter, producer, and visionary, yet she’s constantly being called out for things she’s lied about or concepts her people have stolen. She’s marketed as the woman who can do it all, but when you scratch the surface you see that it’s all one big trick.

Kelly Rowland and LeToya have always been just as talented as Beyonce, but they never received the same preferrential treatment as the Queen Bey. Instead they’ve had their careers sabotaged, with Matthew paying stations to boycott LeToya’s songs and having her shows cancelled, to getting Kelly dropped from Columbia after she finally woke up and terminated his serves as her manager.

It’s nice to see that the public is slowly waking up to the fraudulent career of Beyonce and her evil father Matthew, but unfortunately it’s too late now. Matthews plan worked and Beyonce has officially arrived. I don’t think that she’s going anywhere.

MUSIC VIDEO! 50 Cent Featuring Ne-Yo & Kelly Rowland – Baby By Me!

Posted in Music Videos on November 2nd, 2009 by The Prophet

Rapper 50 Cent teams up with two of R&B’s finest Ne-Yo & Kelly Rowland for “Baby By Me”, the latest single to be lifted from his Before I Self Destruct album (Nov 16).

The clip was shot by Chris Robinson who does a fantastic job of showing Kelly’s transformation from the round the way girl to cashed-up wifey, before throwing in a great twist at the end to surprise us.

Fiddy actually has quite a few good video’s and this is no exception, so now I just hope that it can do better in charts because so far it hasn’t been able to crossover into the Hot 100 yet.

50 Cent moves album forward after early leak. “I’m expecting it to do good!”

Posted in News on November 1st, 2009 by The Prophet

With 50 Cent’s new album Before I Self Destruct leaking almost a month before it’s scheduled release date of November 23, the rapper has been forced to push the album forward to November 16 in order to combat illegal filesharing.

“”I’m pushing the record up; it’ll be out on the 16th. I’m expecting it to do good because of the response I’ve heard on the web. I feel good that it was leaked in its entirety, in sequence. So people can hear my vision.”

I’ve already downloaded this but I haven’t listened to it properly yet. It sounds good so far though, but not as good as some of the other people coming up. His last album Curtis sold almost 700k first week and it wasn’t even that hot. How much do you think this one will do?

Anyways stay tuned because tomorrow Fiddy’s new video “Baby By Me” featuring Ne-Yo and Kelly Rowland premieres tomorrow.
