Susan Boyle passes 3 million and crushes Mary J. Blige on the Billboard charts

Susan Boyle shows no signs of slowing down in her fourth week on the charts, with HitsDoubleDaily reporting that the Scottish singer is set to sell another 520k of her debut album I Dreamed a Dream, pushing her total sales to over 3 million copies in the States alone.

This may be good news for Auntie Susie, but it’s not so great for Mary J.Blige who’s new album Stronger With Each Tear now has to settle for a #2 debut with roughly 340k sold.

Alicia Keys, who debuted last week at #2 with her new album The Element of Freedom, stands at #3 with 270-280k, down just slightly from last week’s 417k bringing her two-week total close to 700k.

Carrie Underwood is also set to sell another 150k of her third album Play On, which is easily enough to give the album a Platinum certification for sales of over 1 million.

Susan has now destroyed MJB and AK, and it looks like Taylor Swift will be her next victim because the two are currently neck-and-neck for the top selling album of 2009. Good on her!

Susan B is still slaying everybody faves I see…I just hate that her album is just made up of covers…I thought it was original songs…

  • Popbleat

Mary and Alicia wouldn’t have sold any more had SuBo not been there – I’m sure they’ll be more than happy with their sales.

  • Lashae

Alicia held on strong. Good for her!
How much did Rihanna sale? Just out of curiosity. lol

  • SayWhat

Forget the sales, look at that killer jacket and hair!!! SuBo is just on another planet right now! She got ya faves running for cover! I wonder if she’ll get a GQ front page cover lolz.

wtf her album is THAT Good???????
    fuk her. fat azz. lol

    hatin jusss cuzz bitchez

  • ReMyky22

Susan got only vocal… Nothing else. And good song isn’t made only of vocal. I was shocked cause Madonna’s version of You’ll See is much better than Susan’s

I’m so glad cause MJB scored No.2! I am happy cause she was promoting it like crazy, although people are sleeping on her, and she really isn’t some kind of fake sellout. She makes music for herself and her fans. God, I love that woman! HAIL MARY!

  • TMM09

Her album isn’t that good, it’s that cheap ! I saw it here in holland for 10euro’s… that’s CHEAP! ofcourse people buy it.

  • GawJuss

I don’t like Susan Boyle but I am happy that her album beat Taylor’s for most selling album. I hate that childish ass!!!

  • http://themcfan.blogspot.com The_M_C_Fan

that susan boyle reign just wont let up LOL!
now seriously bitch we know u can sing! and obviously we’ve established that u can sell records but now u need to stop!!!!!! STOP!!!!! STOP THIS MADNESS PPL!!!! MARY+ALICIA deserved the top spot! now i really want taylor to have the top selling album! taylor fans need to get up and get that babysitting money they’ve saved and start buying taylor’s album! STAT!

  • Liam

Susan is shutting but the album is full of covers well classic covers that is! So she will have older audience diggin her style but if she can recapture this on a sophomore album then i’ll respect more smh!

I find it funny how confrontational you make these album selling numbers sound. Susan Boyle is her own little prodigy and I am excited to see her success but at this point who cares how many albums she sells? I am not as nearly invested in her as an artist as I am those who work hard in the industry like Mary (I personally do not prefer her music), AK, and Even Taylor. To me, I don’t really see a need for you to word it as if the others are in competition with her. She’s what we would call a Lady Gaga as it were. Hott as of now, but let’s see what she does in maybe 3 years…

Oh the joys of novelty….. Susan Boyle= a novel holiday album and a novel voice for every ancient voice lover in the world. I think there are millions of old individuals who want to hear her. lol

  • Daniel

I cant believe im saying this but i bet she will get a Grammy nomination next year in 2011, “Abum of the year” and thats it lol

  • Marko P

oh GOD!!! Susie is really kicking some asses… xD
but I do think this thing about Boyle is too much… she is cool, has an amazing voice, but c’mon…!!

  • DC_1

Who is this fugly ass woman Suan Boyle? Someone needs to stop her!!

  • J2201987

Who the hell is buying up her albums?!??!?!!? This is becoming slightly more unrealistic by every week. I’m not mad or anything because on the outside, it definitely appears to be a miracle that she’s doing so well. But I find it hard to believe that (as lovely as her voice is) she is selling this much in such a short period of time based on her vocal skills. I guess I (and my generation) look for a little of everything in an artist (talent, vocal skills, dancing skills, the ability to perform, and occasionally a questionable character).

@Daniel I see her gaining double digit nods in the 2011 Grammys too.

  • Bobby

You overdramatize it. She did not “crush” or “destroy” anyone. Mary and especially Alicia still sold well. Taylor still sold well. Susan had more promo than anyone and is well liked by the group of people WHO ACTUALLY BUY ALBUMS and don’t download. You overate it so much. She isn’t even mentioned by like anyone.

  • prince

good for susan i hope she beats that lame ass taylor see gets on my nerves

  • divatude

um this generation does not look for talent thats ppl who arent talented sell so well

subos demographic are ppl who like that kind of music there not into the gaga and the beyonce cuz if they were they wud of sold more also

dont get mad at susan its not her fault shes doing so well, and i dont think she cares either

its not the subo hype its the fact that she hit a spark with a certain demographic she didnt target hoodrats, baby mamas, 12 year old white girls

    You go Sweet Susan!

  • YouPutTheLimeInTheCoconut

Good for this woman, I truly see her doing big things for many years to come. People who say things like “she’s hot today, but where will she be 2 years from now” put her in the same category of artists like Lady Gag, Ke$hit and Rihtard. They don’t realize the fact that this woman is actually NOT a gimmick, unlike the hot “it” bitches of today (see the aforementioned). Boyle is nothing more than a woman with a voice, and there’s actually people on this earth who would rather spend their hard earned money and appreciate real talent for what it truly is, not fake bullshittery that wears too much makeup, god awful outfits or uses electronic autotune to cover up the fact that they’re actually not really that good.

Susan got some of you bitches sippin’ on that haterade I see and that’s fine. Most of you younger folk aren’t mature enough to appreciate real talent when you see it anyway, and instead only look at “age” as a factor. P.S., it’s not just the older folk who are buying her album. There’s actually A LOT of us who are part of a younger demographic (I’m 23 myself) who have picked up the CD and loved it. Certain music is timeless and classic, and Susan Boyle represents that.

Um I’m sorry but she did “crush” and “destroy” Mary and Alicia.

MJB and AK are two of the biggest female artists in america who both sold like 600-700k first week of their last albums…. Susie has sold between 500-700K every week of release since she dropped and she didnt do much promo in America, just went on the today show really, and she doesn’t have a single or anything.

YES Susan Boyle is obviously selling off hype, but who the hell doesn’t sell off hype? Do u know how many talented artists there are out there, more so than my girl MJB, who never get a look in on the charts? At the end of the day Susans album is good, people like her, she’s a success story and she deserves it and people are getting MAD because an unattractive middle aged lady has come out of nowhere and outsold all their faves.

  • Supernerd

I actually bought all of there albums.
Susan Boyle is pretty much a miracle and I think she had some really good vocals but she just seems like it’s a one time thing. I really can’t see her next year with an album that will break her debut.

Mary I love her music I have bought almost all of her albums but one and I’m a little disgusted that she can’t out beat the unattractive Susan girl. But by the looks of it I see her at least being certified platinum.

Alicia I am a huge fan and I have bought all of her albums to and she had only dropped one spot and I enjoy her music. She can sing she has a beautiful look and I am crossing my fingers that she gets a platinum certification.

  • quiana

Wow susie is outselling people. Oh well got to love talent. Sometimes you don’t need a gimmick to sell records ( to the ceo’s and record exc.) mmmm that’s a thought talent and talent alone. Something they did in the early days 20′s – early 90′s. Now days it’s all about gimmicks and smoke and mirrors. I am so loving this now for susie.
