Rap legend Snoop Dogg has been named the creative chairman of EMI’s Priority Records, where he will “re-launch the legacy of Priority and will drive efforts to maximize untapped digital and branding opportunities at the label.”

Snoop will help to re-establish West Coast Rap, and will also serve as Executive Producer for a new series of Priority releases slated next year to commemorate the label’s 25th anniversary.

Priority Records previous releases include N.W.A., Master P, Ice Cube, Westside Connection, and Eazy-E amongst others.

“Starting fresh with EMI is a great feeling. It’s a new partnership, a new Priority Records, and a new Snoop Dogg: the Creative Chairman…the Boss Dogg…the Dogg Father,” said Snoop. “The business model we’ve developed will bring the musical heritage of groups like N.W.A. to the forefront. And you definitely got to get ready for my new album Malice N Wonderland in December to kick it all off — this is going to be the most potent dose of Snoop Dogg yet!”

Malice In Wonderland will now be released through Priority Records and will include collaborations with The-Dream, Danja, Jazmine Sullivan, Pharrell, Dr Dre, Soulja Boy, Lil’ Jon, R. Kelly, and Brandy.

Congratulations to Snoopy. This is great news and he must be really proud to be named Creative Chairman of a label who have played a big part in West Coast hip-hop. I love Snoop and I can’t wait for his new album, the collabo’s are crazy, and it sounds like it’ll be the perfect mix of the old & new Snoop.
