Skylar Grey set to return with sexed-up Eminem-assisted single “C’Mon Let Me Ride”

Did anybody else forget all about Skylar Grey, or was it just me? The singer-songwriter was touted as the next big thing last year until she released that lame ballad “Invisible”. It tanked and Grey disappeared, only popping up briefly to release a digital EP of her famous hip-hop features and to collaborate on an awesome dance track with Kaskade. Since all that went down, the once gloomy songstress has sold her soul to the music industry and is now ready to give solo stardom another shot with a slutty image makeover and a new single called “C’Mon Let Me Ride”, due out December 11.

The playful tune features Eminem singing the hook to Queen’s classic “Bicycle” (not that I gotta hear) and is being billed by Grey as an “x-rated kids’ song” and a satirical jab at “overly sexified music, media and the girls who try and imitate it.”

Bitch please. You flopped and now you’re spreading your legs for the masses in a final grab for pop stardom. Just own it and bypass the whole GaGa “I’m still an artist!” crap, coz we ain’t here for it honey boo boo child.

Skylar’s skanky new style isn’t the only thing that’s changed either. Her debut album, formerly titled Invinsible, has now been renamed Don’t Look Down, and Alex Da Kid has been replaced by Eminem as executive-producer. Serial sampler J.R. Rotem has also contributed some tunes to the project. His most recent notable work is with Jason DeRulo and Nicki Minaj, so I guess the angsty Marilyn Manson-assisted record Grey originally recorded is now locked away forever in the same Interscope vault as Her Name Is Nicole.

For the tl;dr crowd: Skylar Grey finally figured out that the only way for a woman to get a hit record in America is to sing about sex and whip your tits out, so that’s what she has done.

Hate the game, not the player!

I wanted to heard the studio version of “Can’t Haunt Me” and “Weirdo” so bad the only song that she peformed live that we got the studio (apart from the buzz singles “Invisible” and “Dance Without You”) was “Building A Monster” on the soundtrack of Tim Burton movie and it was so awesome…why do she do this to us?! FUCK! I hope at least those songs leak in some way

    Hahahahahaha!!!!!!
It was either this or go back to being a song-writer, hoping to catch a string of hits like SIA/Ester Dean/Linda Perry.

Let’s just not hope it’s not as embarrassing and unimaginative as Neon Hitch’s “Bad Dog” and “F U Better”. lol…that flop…

    Ugggghhhh. Skylar. Why?

Oh well, I mean, Eminem is smart; I’m sure he won’t let the album be bad. I’m still wishing we could’ve heard all those Alex da Kid songs, because Dance Without You was fucking amazing.

    I love puakenikeni and Zoo.

Alex da kid is still Executive Producing she’s on his label. He’s Co-Exec Prod with Em but Em is the big name so he gets all the attention. Em also Exec Prod Slaughterhouse & Yelawolf & that didn’t work either. Not only did they flop, they moved away from their raw sound & made too commercial sounding material. Sounds like Skylar is doing the same.
