Sky Ferreira says “Sex Rules”. I agree.
Bloodshy & Avant protege Sky Ferreira sprung a leak today when an unfinished demo from her upcoming debut album hit the web.
Titled “Sex Rules”, the 80s synth-pop throwback has the 18-year-old Sky expressing what is on every teenagers mind — sex. She doesn’t pull any punches either, forgoing the sneaky double meaning of Prince’s “Little Red Corvette”, in order to get straight to business like Rick James’ “Superfreak”.
The song is clearly unfinished, but it’s a very promising piece from Sky’s debut disc. Oh, speaking of the album, it seems that Sky is pulling a bit of a Ke$ha and doing the pop stuff while she’s young — or at least that’s what she just said in a new interview.
“This one is a dance record. I want to get all of the stupid fun shit out of the way while I’m young and it’s appropriate, so I don’t end up wanting to do it when I’m 40 and wearing a leather leotard with my ass hanging out.”
Sounds like a good idea, though Janet Jackson, Kylie and JLo’s asses all still look fab at forty, so it’s doable. It only becomes a problem when you’re Madonna, aged fifty, giving the world an extreme close up of your vagina (“Celebration” video anyone?).
Sky’s amazing first single “One” will be out in the UK on August 23, so start saving your coins up.
