Too bad CL just caused a huge controversy by claiming Korean artists are better than American and Japanese artists because they’re more “talented”, and forced Dara to get her hair shaved instead of her. Girl’s bought into her own hype, and it’s showing – “I Love You” was painful to watch. Bom is fading more and more into background, and Minzy’s trying too hard to remain relevant with her tacky “ero”.

Yeah, that’s pretty much the gist of it. Especially in larger groups like T-ara and SNSD…you’ve got people designated as the main dancer, the main vocalist, the lead vocalist, sub vocalists, the “face,” which is the one that attracts the most attention, the spokesperson, the maknae (youngest member…yes, it is a role within Korean groups, lol), the leader…they’ve got it down to a science over there, haha. As far as whether or not they’re fine with it, I’m really not sure how they feel, as certain roles in the group (main and lead vocalists, faces) get more attention than others (main dancers, sub vocalists). I guess it ultimately depends on the role you’re assigned that determines how cool you are with it. Smaller groups like 2NE1 have several roles assigned to each member. For instance, Dara is the face and the spokesperson, CL is the leader and lead vocalist, Bom is the main vocalist, and Minzy is the maknae and main dancer. It can go on and on and on…

So when a K-Pop group is put together are they like basically assigned roles and everyone is fine with it? The Western equivalent obviously being PCD/Nicole Scherzinger…but no one wanted to admit that she was pushed to the front as lead..

My opinions:

Dara – Actually liked her part for once. Don’t get why she was complaining about getting that little bit of her head shaved, it looks like it’s something she can cover with the rest of her hair.

Bom – She was in this MV? Too bland.

Minzy – Made me uncomfortable with the fondling/writhing.

CL – Too much of her (as usual).

Overall: 3/5.
