Robin Antin revives the Pussycat Dolls, readies PCD comeback

The Pussycat Dolls brand is proving that cat’s really do have nine lives, with PCD creator Robin Antin preparing to relaunch the slutty supergroup with all new Dolls and a brand new reality TV show.

Two of the six new Dolls have already been officially confirmed: One is former Paradiso Girl and LMFAO “Party Rock” feature singer Lauren Bennett, and the other is sexy basketball mistress and former Laker Girl Vanessa Curry. A rumored list of the remaining members is floating around, but it’s hard to say whether it’s legit or not just yet.

The all-new PCD will apparently shake up the model of the original group, with four vocalists and two dancers, rather than just one singer like when Nicole Scherzinger was in charge. According to reports dating back as far as March, the launch of PCD 2.0 will be detailed in Antin’s third reality show, which is reportedly being produced by Kim Kardashian and Nigel Lythgoe.

Kim Kardashian producing a reality show about the Pussycat Dolls just feels so right, like all the stars and planets have perfectly aligned.

But is the world really ready for PCD to make a comeback? No? Well who the fuck cares, because I am! It’ll be nice to finally have a girl group outside of South Korea or the UK worth paying attention to, and better yet, it’ll be a girl group that can actually dance, which is something the UK have yet to master. If there’s one thing that American pop music needs right now, it’s a manufactured group of L.A. casting couch babes pointlessly popping their coochies and flipping their hair in frivolous car commercials. Why should Rihanna and Beyonce have all the fun? There’s strength in numbers!

After examining the top ten of the Hot 100, I’m going to predict that the new PCD will return with music akin to a female LMFAO mixed in with that horrible David Guetta song that features Usher. Y’all complain about how bad that music is, but I guarantee you’ll support it if it’s coming from saucy sexbots giving gynecology exams in their music videos like PCD, so quit yer bitchin’.

    It’s a good gig for Lauren I s’pose? But it’s odd that they scrapped the other replacement dolls that were meant to accompany Nicole after the “first generation” left. I was glad to see a former Harajuku Girl join the line up but who knows if we’ll see a foxy Asian one in the mix now.

    Rino gone.. Good move for Rino though; she has far more potential staying in Asia and being main choreographer for SM then doing PCD stateside. Seriously doubt any of PCD 2.0 would be capable of doing what Rino can do.

    Robin should have got Sarah from Rania (if DR no longer have her under contract), trained ready to go. One of the best dancer/singers out there and unlike being able to do it like a script she has stage presence (check footage from some of her Chinese showcases/comebacks)!!

    Kind of want to see a Western pop girl group that tries not to follow the cookie cutter approach to girl groups; blondie, thicker girl, token black chick, brunette and faux lesbian

    Lauren Bennett wasn’t the one who sang the part she got credit for on the LMFAO track. It was Lexie Lee, also known as Agent Lexie. That’s why Lauren was always lip syncing at the live performances. They pulled a Milli Vanilli & put a generic blonde white girl flashing her hair as the face of the voice of a pretty brown girl. Hollywood.

    Richgirl had a lot of potential but I feel like their management was so awful, I mean their first single came out in 2009 and they still haven’t released a debut album yet. They were the closest thing to a new Danity Kane…..the sounded a lot like them which I liked and I feel like with the right people behind them they could’ve done well!

    I, as a kpop stan, am also ready for an American girl group to (hopefully) hit the radio waves. It’s a shame all of them won’t sing, but 4 vocalists is better than just one. I agree with the above comment about taking chances and having more variety in members instead of just the hot blonde, token black girl, and some forgettable members. But then again I follow kpop where half the members in girl groups are useless so I have no room to speak lol.

    I hope they’re a success and their music is hot! Can’t wait.

    Have a proper global group. You got your blonde (Nichole), token black chick that can sing for days (Lyndrette), rapper (Nyanda), vocalist (Data), singer dancers (Melissa Reyes and Sarah)
