I def wouldn’t say there was ANYTHING wrong with Rated R. Most critics gave it 4-5 stars and several of them put it in their top 10 lists, which is pretty unheard of for a pop artist like her. The album did well ~3 mill WW; RB was a #1, RR was a hit in europe, Hard in the US. Overall, a solid era commercially – although with some slightly different marketing moves it could’ve been much bigger – sure.

All that being said, people want dance Rihanna. Yes, Rihanna can do dark dubstep voodoo~* all she wants whatevv, but part of her appeal has always been the dance tracks. FROM THE BEGINNING.

So i’m glad we’re seeing that again. I don’t view it as a back-track as Rihanna hasn’t dismissed what she did on GGGB but rather just didn’t include it in Rated R. Artists can exclude sounds from their albums without removing it from who they are. Esp considering what Rated R was supposed to be in terms of what she wanted to say.

damn, too bad she’s coming back to dance shit..I love so much Rated R and that dark-rockey side of her..I hope at least try some dance-rock like Shut Up And Drive, she have a good image to be a rock-pop singer and I love her as that..and I also hope the song with Tyler from The All-American Rejects be in this record, maybe was too happy for it and don’t include it…I don’t know what to expect after and amazing album like Rated R that in my opinion is better than Umbrella and GGGB “Looks like no more dark music, back to Umbrella Rihanna” fucking discographic what a hell is wrong with put some emotion and darkness to a record? fuck them RATED R 4 LIFE.

Anyway I hope this will be like “Breakin’ Dishers”, “Disturbia” and “Shut Up And Drive”..before all the emotional problems and the dark direction of the album the albums originaly was going to be like those songs electro-sythpop-pop-rock album I listen her to say that it was going to be and I hope this will be that one…cause that’s are the best songs in GGGB (exept for “Question Existing” and “Rehab”..that’s other kind of good song is more Rated R level) but well Alex Da Kid have to come out with some emotionals alternative hip hop tracks since he do “Airplanes” and “Love The Way You Lie” and I say emotional out from the fucking tired beat from Tricky-The-Dream-Ne-Yo-Stargate.

@Rick she was dance before..but not the stupid kind of dance music of now, she was dancehall and reggae influended pop music..so not dance until GGGB and S.O.S.

Rated R sucked so bad, and although it did OK, I don’t think it did as well as her label hoped, thus the quick move to her next album. Her label isn’t pimping out Rated R like they did to GGGB.

personally i think its too late for rihanna to comeback to dance/pop..katy, gaga etc have already taken her spot..i dnt think the new single will do anything for her that rated didnt do!! she will get airplay blah blah but when it comes to sales she wont get anywhere close to her counterparts!!

Singles wise, rihanna will do extremely good, so no worries! She always puts her stamp on it so im sure it will stand out, and not get lost in the mix, im ready for a more fun rihanna oppose to the “hard era”, although I think Rated R album was a very good cohesive piece of work!

I’m excited for this because I hated Rated R so much it really sucked and Rihanna almost lost me as a fan with that junk…….but the direction of this new album gives me hope!
