Rihanna snags Sia, Stargate, and Benny Blanco for new single “Diamonds”

Yellow diamonds in the light

As the Bible tells us, thou shalt not go 12 months without a new Rihanna album. While anybody who actually cares about Rihanna’s ‘return’ will have to wait until November to hear her seventh album in seven years, there’s only a few more days until her inevitably amazing new single “Diamonds” mercilessly lodges itself into our brains.

The new tune is already a guaranteed banger, with Stargate, Sia, and Benny Blanco serving as the masterminds behind it. This was unofficially confirmed by Stargate’s manager Tim Blacksmith last week, and then became super obvious when Blanco tweeted, “like diamonds in the sky”, a few hours ago, with Sia quickly retweeting it.

For those of you who know absolutely nothing about top forty music, Stargate has produced most of Rihanna’s biggest hits over the years, from “Take a Bow” and “Rude Boy” to “Only Girl”, “S&M”, and “What’s My Name”. Most recently, the Norwegian production team collaborated with Sia on Ne-Yo’s generic-but-amazing comeback single “Let Me Love You”. Benny Blanco on the other hand, co-produced most of Ke$ha’s hits, as well as Maroon 5′s “Move Likes Jagger” and “Payphone”.

No official release date for “Diamonds” has been confirmed yet, but a French radio station recently said that it would drop at the end of the week (which would be, like, now), while Sia cryptically tweeted, “Next Monday should feel pretty good”, two days ago.

Love her or hate her, but ever since “Only Girl”, Rihanna’s lead singles are basically guaranteed to be flaw-free. As for what her actual album is going to sound like, well, that’s a different story…

    So excited!

I think the album ha more hope of being more cohesive, thought provoking, and even lyrically much better.

She’s been recording since February, so there has been a lot more time into this album already then there was into TTT (which she was basically BARELY finished recording 2 weeks before the damn thing came out).

I hope the producers and Sia saved their A game for Rihanna though (which no doubt they probably have). I find Ne-Yo’s song a bit too on the generic side for Rihanna. She’s gonna have to serve it up fresh after such a pop transcending song like WFL turned out to be…

Still waiting for that long overdue review of “Your Body”

Admit it Proph, we want to hear your thoughts on it: ThatGrapeJuice’s and Toyaz’s reviews are boring to death.

    C’mon. Don’t fight it.

Not stanning here, but it’s your job to entertain us!

  • ImHighPrice

I’m currently still slain by “We Found Love”, so I’m anticipating this album’s lead single. I just hope that she doesn’t continue to release fillers as follow-up singles because her & her team stay paying the gems dust.

  • theprophetblog

Lol, normally I’d scream at you but since I know you’re not a freak like Kene it’s all good.

Gonna do it today. I was doing freelance work on the side this week so time has been short and was away all weekend for my b’day. So many new albums came out at once that I have so much to review, plus I wanna get a chance to listen to the albums I personally have been waiting for like Grizzy Bear’s.

Gonna do a couple small posts now then will do the Xtina review in a couple hours.

And dead, did GrapeJuice review it? I’m gonna have to go there and read it, I need a good laugh

TTT is the best album of her career

    end of.

  • Andy

This might be the first time I’ve ever felt 0 interest for a new song yet I already know I’m bound to play the hell out of it.

  • TFC

Rated R is the best album of her career.

    End of it.

  • theprophetblog

Rated R and Loud are both equally the best albums of her career.

    End of.

  • Chakra

Cute, but I have this sinking feeling we’ll be getting an Element of Freedom-esque album this go around and I really don’t have the time for it.

  • Joey

Good Girl Gone Bad is the only classic she made so far.

    End of.

  • Iceberg

Oh God, Is kene still harassing you? I kinda missed 2010 when Bionic was flopping and I had to read Kene’s post just to vent out some hatred to the world.

Yep, the writers at ThatGrapejuice sounded like amateurs with no kick humor(classy)-wise. I can’t believe some Xtina stan even included it in the Your Body wikipedia review page. Toyaz was alright but I think she’s too lazy these days than salivate at Rihanna’s November offering.

Anyways, here’s me listening to Your Body

I hope she includes some bangers that she can actually perform on tour. I don’t like it when she ignores half the album in her setlist.

  • bleahim

I actually thought she will release the greatest hits with new single diamonds… however for me it’s never enough of Riri :) ))

  • KB

Let’s hope that it will slay just as WFL did. I need another Loud for her next album. im kinda torn if im really excited for her next album….her idgaf-attitude still annoys the hell outta me

I NEED A REVIEW for Leona Lewis’ Glassheart and Wynter Gordon’s new tracks….or just ‘Sanguine’ as soon as it is released Proph!

  • SerferTJ

Sooo… The Princess of China, Queen of your body parts (a.k.a. Queen of Peen) is coming back with her soon-to-be SMASH #2-charting album???
    I’m slightly excited about this.
But why comeback with another Stargate Track??? Didn’t WFL show that you can be successful when you work with new producers?
She’s clearly at a stage where her success is practically guaranteed, so I wish Rih would take more risks, but I won’t judge too hard till the single comes out…

  • Britney Lover

Music of the Sun is the best album of her career.

    Just kidding.

  • bobs

Bitch, you mean since PON DE REPLAY, the lead singles have been FIERCE — ESP Russy Rou!

  • GawJuss

I’m afraid if she can top WFL!! The song was too huge and flawless for any follow-up. But she never fails to surprise me, so I’m still excited. My boday is readayyyyyyy. Slay me RihAllah!!!!

new album? oh my God. RiRi really makes the K-Pop artists look bad with her “comebacks”. LOL. but nevertheless, RiRi has always been a single artist for me. I only listen to her singles, but never really interested on her album. and Proph is right, her lead single has always been a certified wig-snatcher.

The only reason Rihanna can come out with an album every year is because of how basic and uninvolved she is with her music.

  • KweenSooyoung

I need to Divine9 to work with Stargate too.

  • Dallywood

I still shit myself when I hear “S.O.S. (Rescue Me)”

Rihanna singles are like herpes …. They finally die down and disappear just long enough for another outbreak. Can we please find a cure for Rihanna… ?

  • http://www.twitter.com/themusicprophet The Music Prophet

Kene was an asshole! And TGJ is the biggest horse shit blog…. I swear … I’ll deal with the K-pop… Hell ill deal with anything to avoid that shit.

  • http://www.twitter.com/themusicprophet The Music Prophet

I would say ‘LOUD’ hands down… But she wrote nothing on it whatsoever so that’s a buzz kill for me. I’m gonna go with ‘Rated R’

  • http://www.facebook.com/Vlad.junior Vlademir Junior

i was about to reply the same thing!!!!! She slays the hell out of me since 2005! Kween of the universe!

  • clarke

its funny b/c i ‘think i am apart of the rihanna navy’ and i use those words very loosely b/c i have a life n dont have time to get hung up on a celeb…having said that…she is my absolute fav and i have to say, i agree with ur comment. i think if she took a couple of yrs off her shit would be so immaculately polished n sicker than cancer. anways im still going to be devouring her single and album once it releases. -that rihanna reign just wont let up…huh!

  • Arte

    The name already seems flawless!
It will probably be another 1st single I’ll hate on a first listen and end up loving a day later

  • sean

Rated R is a solid album but I think Good Girl Gone Bad is her real breakthrough album to take her international and release 7 hit singles off 1 disc alone. Rated R was her darkest and most different album. TTT was blah and Loud was slightly better but overall average and overated.

I think this new one might top Good Girl and Rated R, but we shall see. Her singles are flaw-free, that you can’t deny whether you love or hate her. lol

  • GawJuss

Russian Roulette? Gurl bye! I’m not here for that shit!

OG, WMN and S&M have been stucking in my iPod like for freaking 2 years, I just karnt at this gurl slaying mah soul like this and listening to WFL everyday is still so fresh that I have the feeling like listening to it for the first time :jonny:

    Keep on slayinggggggg.

  • http://twitter.com/FauxKingLuke Luke

This bitch trying to cock block Xtina with her single / album dates lol… Just kidding, IDC about that :) I like Rihanna but it’s like PLEASE take a seat ffs… just for ONE year lol

  • http://twitter.com/FauxKingLuke Luke

Can’t believe “You da one” was even on the album let alone the second single SMH.

  • http://twitter.com/FauxKingLuke Luke

I love how TGJ were the biggest (after Pigrez) Xtina haters during “Bionic” and now they’re licking her ass and lauding “Bionic” as un underrated gem… fake bitches.

  • http://www.twitter.com/themusicprophet The Music Prophet

That blog is a piece of shit. I no longer surf because they’ve been shoving Rita Ora down my throat for the last year. That and they have no common sense. Ciara’s ‘Sorry’ isn’t rave worthy at all… But According to TGJ it’s the greatest thing ever released upon mankind. Same for Missy Elliott’s new single! See, the Proph may stan for shitty pop music like the rest of us most days… But at least he freely calls it out as generic shit. There’s a lot less bullshit here… Just witty sarcasm instead!

’nuff said! “talk that talk” did nothing for me, let’s see what happens now.
