Random News Roundup: Cher, Christina, KARA, Purple Crush, Coachella and more.

Cher makes history with a six-decade string of hits
The legendary Cher has just made Billboard history with her latest single “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me”, which has just topped the Billboard Hot Dance/Club Play chart. This makes the diva the only act to ever have a No.1 hit on a Billboard chart in each of the last six decades.
Cher’s first chart topper was back in 1965 when the Sonny & Cher duet “I Got You Babe” conquered the Hot 100. The 70s followed with three more No.1s on the Hot 100, and then the 80s rolled around with two No.1s on the Hot AC chart. The 90s saw Cher return to true form when “Believe” topped the Hot 100 for four weeks, and then the noughties held another pair of Billboard Club hits.
“How can it be six decades when I’m only four decades?” Cher jokingly told Billboard of the win. [Source]
The bitch is back: Christina Aguilera beefs with Burlesque co-star
Christina Aguilera’s nasty side reportedly reared it’s ugly head again, this time during a “hissing match” at a pre-Golden Globes bash with her Burlesque co-star Julianne Hough. The reason for the fight is unknown, but an onlooker told E! News that “Christina really got in her face,” and “unleashed a verbal barrage at Hough”. They then go on to say that Aggie grabbed Hough, causing the actress to snap back “Don’t touch me!”. Christina then threatened to end Hough’s burgeoning country music career, leaving her “visibly upset”.
But, is it true?
Catty Christina’s rep has labeled the report “nonsense”, and Hough’s rep has refused to comment, but Gossip Cop are stating that it is in fact, true. However, apparently the spat was only “fleeting”, and the two ladies managed to make up and act cordial towards each other at an after-party. [Source]
KARA is Jumpin’ ship from their label — group split imminent?
Three members from uber-popular Asian girl group KARA have filed to terminate their contracts from their label DSP Media, citing “psychological damages” from being overworked. In a statement released by the group’s lawyers, KARA accuse DSP of “forcing” them into an overloaded schedule, rejecting any of their requests and failing to consult the group on any promotional matters.
“The psychological damages that the members were forced to endure cannot be explained in words, and their efforts have gone to waste. Their misery is severe, and they can no longer remain under such a company, which is why they decided to declare their withdrawal.”
DSP have responded with a lengthy statement disputing KARA’s claims, filing a trademark for the name ‘KARA’, and threatening legal action if the group tries to sign with another company. To make things more interesting, a new TV Report is alleging that the real reason behind KARA’s legal action is due to money, and not a heavy work schedule.
To further confuse the already sticky situation, the group’s leader Park Gyuri is claiming she didn’t know about KARA’s contract termination, and she has NOT joined her fellow members in their efforts to free themselves from DSP. While the other members have had their promo activities suspended due to the current drama, Gyori is still with DSP and will continue with her solo variety show appearances as scheduled. Also, member Goo Hara, who originally stood against DSP with the other members, has now changed her mind and will NOT be filing for contract termination.
This leaves a battle of three against three: KARA members Jung Nicole, Han Seungyeon, Kang Jiyoung Vs. DSP, leader Gyuri and member Goo Hara. Is this the end of KARA as we know it?
In addition to topping the charts in Korea, KARA are currently Japan’s most successful K-Pop girl group, and in a short period of time have risen to become one of the countries most popular new acts, and leaders in the Hallyu wave. The current split from DSP and suspension of promotional activities couldn’t have come at a worse time for the group, who just hit Platinum in Japan with their album Girl’s Talk and are currently filming their own Japanese drama TV series.

The Veronica’s diss Katy Perry
Lisa Origliasso, one half of Australian pop duo The Veronicas, has taken a stab at Katy Perry on her Twitter in a patronizing Tweet that was later deleted. Lisa wrote to her 174,000 followers: “‘Do you ever feel like a plastic bag drifting through the wind….. ummm… no I don’t. Do you ever feel like a moron singing that?”
This isn’t the first time Lisa has attacked another pop star, dissing Ke$ha repeatedly last year during a Twitter rant about the “TiK ToK” singer’s racy performances and music.
The hypocritical Lisa seems to forget that Ke$ha wrote The Veronicas hit “This Love”, and that The Veronicas have released some of the most derivative and commercial pop out there, crafted by A-list producers like Max Martin and Toby Gad.
So lame.
