The original Sugababes are officially back together

Okay, so I have a confession to make: I’m a fraudulent psychic. Some of the stunning insights from my official 2012 Pop Predictions post– which I literally wrote in ten minutes in-between New Year’s celebrations– is just stuff that I already knew on the down-low, but wasn’t willing/allowed to spill to the whole world yet.

One ‘prediction’ was that the original Sugababes lineup would reform, and now Keisha and Mutya have basically confirmed the brilliant news by Tweeting about a recording session.

No, your eyes are not deceiving you: Sugababes 1.0 are seriously 100% back together. Take that, Heidi! And Jade! And Amelle!

They’ve been recording their comeback album in secret for a while now, and their new music is absolutely amazing. No more of that Sugababes 4.0 shit — the new stuff sounds like One Touch circa 2012, with strong, soulful vocals and a very British sound. On top of the great new music, all three ‘Babes are getting along better than ever, without a hint of the catty drama that plagued their past.

Glue your wigs on and prepare for a slaying, because the originals are coming back this year with the best Sugababes album since Taller In More Ways!

    Yaaaaaaasss! Can’t wait to hear the music. I loved the original lineup and I hope they stick to their Pop/R&B sound. This is some poetic justice for real.

    …but is it wrong that I feel kinda bad for Heidi? I mean, she WAS in the group for more than a cool minute. Them other two hoes can kick rocks though, ESPECIALLY that pressed-as-fuck Jade.

    I agree too, the ideal situation would have been Mutya, Keisha and Heidi for me just because Heidi was in the group WAY longer than Siobhan and Siobhan is such an amazing solo artist i’d hate her not to do more solo stuff too, but it’s better than the trash the current line up are putting out and the Sugababe name will be redeemed so…

    YES, Siobhan’s 2nd album “Ghosts” is a MASTERPIECE, if it was released now in the time of unique females like florence, marina etc it would have been huge but it was ahead of it’s time, it is a FLAWLESS album though and i don’t just throw that word around.

    I also feel sorry for Heidi…Karma really is a bitch…anyway I’m still more than excited to hear what they’r creating together again!! All their albums were classics until Taller In More Ways…and I’m secretly hoping that they release something fun like Push the Button…

    Ok, I’m all for the idea of the original ‘babes and all that but I think we all need to be honest with ourselves: The best ‘babes music came from 2.0. I mean, come on. “Angels with Dirty Faces”, “Three”, and ESPECIALLY “Taller in More Ways” were, in my opinion, head and shoulders above “One Touch” and I think Heidi’s voice fits better with Keisha and Mutya. I know people are excited that it’s the originals and shit, but there will be no shaking and crying from me until I hear something on par with the ‘babes 2.0 work from 1.0.

    And a few hours after this post, PopJustice confirmed it and posted more detailed info (I didn’t know how much I was allowed to spill yet).

    It’s funny, because Mutya won a claim to use ‘Sugababes’ on printed works. They could use an anagram of ‘Sugababes’ and use the proper word on the album!

    I can agree with this. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE Siobhan, but Heidi was cool too AND she was in the group for years – long enough to be considered a legitimate Sugababe. Sad to see her get screwed. Them other two hoes though? Bye tricks!

    Anyway, the BEST part of this news is that Mutya’s back. I missed her ghetto ass. lol

    Woohoo! I was keeping my fingers crossed for this. I haven’t been interested in the Sugababes since Mutya left. And after Keisha left, I thought how could they call them the Sugababes without anybody for the original lineup. I really hope that stay together this time and forget the drama.

    I don’t think whatever album they come with will touch ‘Taller in more ways’, but it will be hot. 

    I am hoping SO bad that they work with Cameron McVey and Jony Z Rockstar again. Those guys always deliver for these girls. I only want Xenomania back in the picture of they can give the girls that soulful throwback ish as they did on ‘Three’ with “Situation’s heavy”, otherwise, I don’t wanna hear it. I hated how Xenomania started having their work with the Subabaes sound like Girls’ aloud knock-off’s.
