Nicole who? Jessica Sutta’s “Show Me” tops the Billboard Club Charts

Guess who the new Queen of the clubs is? Nope, it’s not Nicole Scherzinger, who is languishing at the pathetic position of No. 2 on this week’s Billboard Hot Dance/Club Play chart – it’s the flawless Jessica Sutta, who ascends to the summit this week with her addictive dance hit “Show Me”!

To make the victory even sweeter, Jessica is the first Pussycat Doll to ever top the Billboard Club chart as a solo artist.

“Show Me”, which was remixed by the likes of Dave Aude and Alex Gaudino, is Jessica’s second time at the top following her 2007 collaboration with Aude, “Make It Last”, while her Paul Van Dyk feature “White Lies” peaked at No. 3 in the same year.

Now that Sutta is a certified Klub Kween, “Show Me” has been sent out to Top Forty radio in the hopes of crossing over onto the Hot 100. It’s certainly catchy and dancey enough to become a hit, but since Jess doesn’t employ the blowjobs-for-spins promotional tactics of Scherzinger, DJ’s might have a hard time warming up to it.

I know that we’re all excited about the upcoming reformation of PCD, but let’s all forget about those casting couch tricks for a moment and celebrate Sutta’s stunning smash!

I prefer this to everything Nicole’s ever done. End of.

  • tjoz

Good work. Now send it to radio internationally and get with Havana Brown.

A Jessica Sutta/Havana Brown track should work out to be something good. They have both worked with each other before. A radio friendly club track that still has credibility throughout the DJ circuit

  • N. Beezy

YAAAAS! Finally! Show Me is a smasher… especially that Dave remix you had on your mix!

  • nicky

lol meanwhile nicole is on top 40 radio and this girl will never chart anywhere other than this flop club chart that no one cares about~*

  • Darwin

    Sutta is forever.

  • Darwin

Sweet tits, Nicole, after trying restlessly for 5 years finally had ONE mild hit,

I think a #1 Club hit would be the equivalent of being better than scoring a 39 on the Hot 100. Love the song hope it does cross-over

Oh yes Nicole is ruling the charts at #39!

  • Steveroni

    This is actually extremely catchy.

I love the LOVEEEEEE part. haha

This is Jess’ first single… It was Nicole’s 4TH/5TH SINGLE #JustSayin And it’s gonna chart on the Hot 100 ;)

  • “White Lies” was fierce as hell. This, however, is only okay, but good for her for being successful.

Glad to see her find some success, because Nicole (so far) is the only one benefiting from being in the group. Cause you don’t see the others hardly anywhere. Kim’s (Her Majesty & The Wolves) and Melody’s music hasn’t made a dent in the charts.

You guys are way to harsh on Nicole. I still think Nicole is wicked talented and as somebody who followed PCD for awhile, Jessica can’t sing and will always be a studio singer/live lip syncer. But I definitely prefer her over the catty Melody who has no vocal control.

Sometimes, it’s the ones with little to no talent who will prevail. That’s just the way it is. Just look at the charts, aside from Adele, GaGa and Beyonce nobody really is talented. Poor Nicole for being talented, I guess.

  • Justin

    too*

  • AaronB

    Preach it, sister.

Nicole slays the others … End of story …

  • Badboyproperty

the club charts really… nicole rocks!!!

  • tjoz

I dont think many people realize how the club chart can benefit someone. Its not a mainstream Top 40 chart that people cant seem to look past. Its more industry biased than other charts.

Club charts feed directly from the club circuit and for new artists getting songs to chart this way gets their foot in the door and exposure to fanbases. Its a stepping stone for bigger things.

It sure beats blowing some random just to get your foot in the door.

  • SerferTJ

Git it Jessica!!!!! I’ve been WAITING for this one to go #1! :D

And then curtsey to Kim Wyatt on your way out cuz she's a better talent judge than your favs. ;D

thanks for posting this; i was literally about to go google “what do the club charts really mean for an artist?”. so thanks for shedding some Light on the topic. =0)

anyone else out there able to elaborate or explain if hits on the dance chart mean an artist is making enough to support themselves N continue making music?

  • tjoz

Charting on the Club Charts doesnt always mean the artist is making money as a bulk of the positions are made up from DJ spins. Its a very different chart than most normal ones.

Topping a club chart has a flow on effect. Not only do you get a bigger chance at having crossover appeal but it opens up touring opportunities; especially in Europe. The European club circuit is massive. If an artist can keep momentum happening in the club charts it sets them up for a good solid year of touring around the European club circuit.

Its a development strategy many indie labels use when debuting an artist; pitch them towards the club circuit so they can build their fanbase and get them more experience by doing the European club circuit. In a couple years they will be ready for that crossover track that brings them over into the pop world.

It also lines them up work whether it be vocal work or more releases. Its more productive for an artist than trying for mainstream appeal straight out the gate

  • Aryo

no its not jess’s first single, i wanna be bad was the first

  • SerferTJ

That was when she was unsigned and was releasing music independently! That hardly counts.
“Show Me” is her first single with major label support.

  • Mochamays

the ONLY reason people think nicole is the best is because she was the lead pussycat doll! had it been kimberly or jessica, people would be saying they were the best! with that being said, im so happy that jessica is doing good! god knows her or any of the other dolls never got the credit they deserved in PCD! they were all like nicole’s back-up dancers/singers! it wouldve been cool if they were more like the spice girls and all shared the spotlight. i think its hilarious how people are saying nicole slays but did you guys not read the article? it says jessica is the ONLY pussycat doll to top the billboard club charts as a solo artist! speaking of solo artist, if nicole is soooo damn good, why has she been a complete and total failure outside of the pussycat dolls? usually, when your the sexy lead singer of a group as big as the pussycat dolls are, youve got it made! look at gwen stefani, beyonce, fergie ect-nicole couldn’t compete with them if she tried! she hasn’t had alot of success AT ALL as a solo artist!

  • Justin

I am happy she is doing great, I loved Jessica. But in Nicole’s defense though, Jessica’s song was a club song. Her song was a mainstream pop song. I think she did well for reaching #2.

  • Raphalalani Madzena

isit my eye or has jessica sutta moved to no 1@c654f7ed907d0453d813dd81c5af1a44:disqus  on billboard club chart and nicole remains at 2 , if im not mistaked nicole also topped uk charts with dont hold your breath its more like Jessica who ?
