New Rihanna “Rated R” promo pic and music video premiere date!

Above is the first promo pic from Robotica’s new album Rated R, which hits stores November 23.

The Anthony Mandler directed music video for RiRi’s new single “Russian Roulette” is set to premiere on November 6 on ABC.

She’s pulling her typical moody model face here and I like it. I think I’m already over her new single though. Why are all these big pop artists like Rihanna and Lady GaGa feeding us the same old? Amerie is a good example of someone who manages to keep their signature sound without becoming generic and stale, but that’s probably because she writes records for herself and not for the radio.

TRUE! I cant wait for Amerie’s new album.. and I also listen to her older songs, they never seems to get old unlike some other songs made for radio.. anyway, i love Rihannas music and i cant wait to hear it..

  2. The Prophet Says:

I love a lot of Rihanna’s music to and I’ll definitely be checking out her new album. The new single is good but u know, it’s nothing major, just sounds like another decent radio ballad to me.

  3. Luke Says:

i know.. i thought she would be coming with a club banger, something uptempo.. well, maybe the next single will be more “clubby” :-) I hope that the whole concept of the album isnt slower and more rock songs and ballads :-)

  4. MikeNMiami Says:

Prophet SHUT THE HELL UP!!!! YEA” and you wonder why amarie ass is flopping every album!!! No Growth!!! Her best album was her first album and it was a classic to me. Also if you look at it, shes the one that’s not growing always trying to make a song like one thing on every album. Rihanna is growing as a artist! Part of being an artist is to evolve” Madonna, Micheal and the old Janet is the perfect example. Never stick to one sound or you’ll get boring and people will loose intrest fast! But it seems to me the gays are the ones that don’t really like the song because it’s not disco enough and they can’t shake too it! Funny how you and perez Hilton almost share the same view of the song. lol

Also I see you have bad taste in music which is fine with me lol lol. Can’t wait to start my blog!

    dfsdfs

  6. MikeNMiami Says:

I take that back about you having bad taste! I just find it funny you bring “no growth” amarie ass up!

  7. hater Says:

    you suck
and your reviews just suck balls
i cant believe you dont loike rihannas new single and most of the other pop son out right now.
and stop saying that you want the stars to switch it up
i mean its the sound they started with and it is there signature sound and it makes them lots money and records so y take a risk and change it?
    i hate you so much
especially for hatin on beyonce and lady gaga
they are so talented and there music is great. and gagas image is different and thats wat sets her aside from the other pop stars. and beyonce well the way shes being manaed is brilliant coz shes makin millions and has the most number ones (tied with ri ri) this decade
    so stop hatin prophet
    thats right gay biatch!

  8. ReMyky22 Says:

People, you all need to shut the fuck up. This is his fucking blog and he’s got his own fucking opinion. And if you can’t get over the fact he doesn’t like the damn song then do us all a favor and stop leaving bitch ass comments on his fucking page. I personally love Rihanna’s new single but that’s not reason that I’ll try to diss him cause unlike you, I’m not immature and childish and can get over the fact people have different taste in music.
Grow up and get a fucking life. It’s too obvious that his opinion means alot to you, other way you wouldn’t write all that dumbshit.

  9. hater Says:

fuck u ReMyky22 my comments are non of your buisness
    fuck off

  10. hater Says:

    and fuck you prophet
    for writting these bullshit reviews

  11. ReMyky22 Says:

Of course. And his review of the song is non of your business. You’re contradicting yourself.

  12. Carl Says:

I agree Proph.. I’m just waiting to hear what else she has in store

  13. hater Says:

    go 2 hell bitch

  14. Carl Says:

Proph’s opinions DEF don’t suck I mean you may disagree with the guy but his opinions def don’t suck.

  15. Blahhhhhh Says:

The names ur makin up for these artists are kinda lame

  16. Rap* Says:

OMG what the heck is going on. LOL and i thought im sometimes going to hard on him. lol
And if hes gay hes gay…what the fuck does it matter? Whats the diffrent between us straights and gays? if they wann be gay let them fucking be gay that shit doesnt matter when it comes to opinions. leave him alone with that BS

But i do have to agree with yall, that Amerie is a bad example bc she even said it herself that this album is “part 2″ of her album and she does try to have a 1 thing on every album. lol

And i love the single and i still dont know why people think it sounds like what she has done it the past?
Compare TAB to it? its nothing alike.
And it doesnt really sound radio-made to be, to a point where its obvious (for example all the irreplaceable-rejects or dance-songs).
I still believe, its a hot diffrent song.

Idk about the pic… like it but the cover looked hotter.

  17. Phoenix Says:

Rihanna is known to do things her way, not a trend setter (even though she does) but part of being the “bad girls” means to do things against the grain. Hence is why she dresses the way she does, not on some next level shit like gaga cause that bitch needs some lithium pills, but in a rebelious and what some would call villainish outfits. Every woman is quick to throw weave on their head, and she went against the grain and cut it off. Things of this nature is what makes her Rihanna. Any artist coming back, we expect that uptempo dance song (i.e Mariah obsessed, beyonce single ladies, black eyed peas boom boom pow) but rihanna once again stayed true to her character and went against it all releasing russian roulette. Rihanna even stated in previous interviews that growing up all she listened to was reggae but coming across seas opened up her interest and what she really wanted to do, def jam tried to make her keep that image of an island girl because thats what people expected since she came from the barbados but she stayed true to her personality and showed us who she really was regardless of who was gonna like it.

That is called character prophet and being true to yourself which any fan would respect.

Russian roulette also happens to be very haunting and something that yes maybe someone else can sing but i cant imagine anyone making it feel so real the way rihanna does. I get chills every time i hear the damn song.

  18. Popbleat Says:

I don’t really understand how you can say Rihanna’s gone for “her same old sound” with Russian Roulette. Surely EVERYONE was expecting Disturbia Part II? I know I was.

RR has been a massive surprise, and was initially pretty disappointing. But I’m very much feeling it now.

And GaGa coming out with a similar sound? Not really a surprise. It’s an album reissue after all. She seems like the kind of artist who’s really going to change it up when she starts a new project.

Meanwhile you’re loving Britney’s 3… because that’s so fresh, right? Haha.

  19. Phil Says:

Hmm after listening to RR a few times, it’s average. There are many messages that are edgy and can be applauded by the masses at the same time, but anything suicidal is not one of them. So I’m not a fan of the song for that.

As for Rihanna, she LOOKS alot better than her music would lead you to believe. She’s a shiny wrapper, but the music inside is not as good as the package.

I bet the song will be a hit for her, I just don’t like it that much. Bad Romance, and 3 are better.

  20. Meander Says:

Oh no! Her album comes November 23rd. Ever see The Number 23? This will mean the end of the world. Everyone will kill themselves after hearing her music because of the evil messages hidden within! Oh NO! What ever shall we do! She must be destroyed! lmao.

Don’t get all salty. I’m just taking the piss outta ya.
    Hope this album is decent.

Wonder what her management’s strategy was when they decided to let her kill herself at the end of Russian Roulette. Maybe they thought they were sparing us from hearing her sing it live. haha. Again, Just kidding.

  21. Booduh Says:

Guh please @ the Amerie comparison. Nobody’s really checking for that so writing songs for yourself should stay TO yourself. You’re supposed to write for the general public (to develop a fanbase) and she’s lacking and mildly entertaining. Rihanna hasn’t put out anything like this so how’s it the same old? Mk. Another meaningless notion of hate. Get over it..

  22. divatude Says:

    why r u>>>>russian roultte

amerie makes better music than rihanna and ppl r to dumb to realize y talented artist r flopping

rihanna is pop so shes maintstream therefor shes has an opportunity for a broader audience, and white ppl love her music, notice her first album flopped cuz it had a carribean vibe to it and main stream media wasnt checking for that

amerie is r&b shes subject only to urban radio and
urban places those ppl dont buy albums i will admit i dont buy albums either

any who the largest buying market is the pop audience so thats y rhitard is selling the way she is

  23. ImHighPrice Says:

Well obviously the album should have been titled “Rated Rooster”…SMH…that hair is killing me softly.

People stop throwing shade at Proph, Rihanna has shown little growth with her new single but she STILL is inexperienced as a vocalist, she STILL has no stage prescence, she STILL has no dancing ability, & she STILL has no personality, so GIRLS, KABOOM & EXPLODE!

Russian Roulette will most likely be a HIT due to hype & her name. The song itself is dark, edgy, & almost scary but from the lyrics, instrumental, anticlimax, & vocals, it is generic & lackluster and that’s my opinion on the situation.

  24. da vinci Says:

    @Divatube

Rihanna never flopped her first album went Gold and the second went platinum. Her First cd sold like 90thousand copies its first week the second sold like 150thousand its first week and her third sold like 200thousand its first week and every album continues to get better and better that’s what I love about her she’s always improving as an artist!!!

Prophet I love and your site I may not always agree but I always look fw to what you have to say dnt mind the haters keep it
Ps when your blogger account was closed I went into a straight panic lol

  25. divatude Says:

rihanna has only sold like 3.3 million albums in the u.s,

ciara first album went tripple platnum in the u.s and so did ashantis

    so whats ur point

  26. Carlos Says:

rihanna looks amazing, and her new single is just okay…I hope all this works for her..I still think all this seems a tad bit rushed…we’re a month away from the album release..eck.

  27. The Prophet Says:

    Please.

Amerie’s records have WAY more depth than Rihanna’s and GaGa’s!

And she doesn’t follow the same sound, it just seems like that to these fools with no taste who just want nothin but stargate beats all day.

Amerie’s new album has a 70′s soul/rock influence, because I love it had a dance/new wave influence and so on. She doesn’t just recreate 1 thing all the time.
