[New Music] Heidi Montag – “Heartbeat”

As promised, the indestructible Heidi Montag has blessed mankind with a brand new MP3, “Heartbeat”.
My fellow Heidi Holics will remember this one from early last year when an unfinished version was leaked online, but the song has since received a major overhaul courtesy of producer Rob Holloday, who’s previously worked with Drake and Cassie.
Haters gon’ hate, but Holloday’s production is hot stuff. The hitmaker crafts a quirky Hip-Pop beat that bops along to Heidi’s autotuned cooing, before completely dropping out on the hook and leaving Heidi to sing like her voice is being fed through an old answering machine. The song eventually ends in a woozy flurry of snakey synthesizers that sound like they came straight off of a Neptunes track.
If there’s any fault to be found in Heidi’s latest gem, it’s that it sounds more like a hot remix than an original song, which is really what is. The original version, even in its rough state, was more of a natural fit for Heidi’s barely-there vocals, while the Rob Holloday’s production is a little busier.
After being used to the original “Heartbeat”, it took a few spins for the new version to click, but now I’m kind of obsessed.
Heidi’s done it again!
You can pick up “Heartbeat” on iTunes worldwide now, where it’s being sold as a new addition to Heidi’s recently-released Dreams Come True EP.
