[New Music] Free School – Do What You Like

Following their swaggy anthem “B!tche$ On My D!ck!!!!”, Jean Baptiste‘s band Free School are back with a new track, “Do What You Like”. Most of you will know Baptiste from his work as a producer with the likes of Kelis, Kreayshawn, Madonna, Black Eyed Peas, and Chris Brown. He also co-wrote Rihanna‘s “Photographs”, and is set to work with the Bajan babe on her upcoming seventh studio album.

But enough about all that. “Do What You Like” sees Free School bragging about money and swag again, but they’ve swapped the hood-hop beat of “B!tche$ On My D!ck!!!!” for a new dance-rock sound. It sounds an awful lot like Kid Cudi (another artist Baptiste has worked with), which can obviously only be a good thing.

“I’m an idolator / I believe in myself,” Free School sing, “I’m an innovator / I bring the dead back to life.”

Take a listen below, bop your head, and envision that you’re as cool as this song wants you to feel.

Sounds like someone picked out a 2002 Ashley Simpson leftover and handed it to a grown man who has a medical problem which causes him to make random funny noises in the middle of sentences.

The result does nothing for me.
I wouldn’t insult Cudi by comparing the two.

Actually the names that popped in my head with his name where only Kelis and Kerli, I didn’t know about his work with The Black Eyed Peas, Chris Brown, Madonna, Rihanna or Kreayshawn. It’s like some commercial version of Kid Cudi, cause his voice sound very alike, but not the same polish sound sorry, but I kind of like it.

His voice sounds a lot like Cudi but it ends there. Lacks the lyrical depth and feeling of cudi.

It sounds like a WZRD reject that Cudi let him have as left overs. It’s not terrible though, just not that good either imo.
