[New Music] Ciara – Overdose

Ciara takes it back to the Fantasy Ride days on “Overdose”, a new snippet believed to be lifted from the sessions for her forthcoming album, One Woman Army.

“I took your love, I think I took too much!” Ciara squeaks over an infectious bed of ’80s synth-pop and dubstep wobbles. “I took it all, but it’s not enough.”

With lyrics like that, I’d say Ciara is an insatiable power bottom, just like yours truly.

“Overdose” is pure pop, and a far cry from the dated urban banger “Sweat” that mysterious vanished from the face of the planet recently. It also suits her voice incredibly well, even more than some of her R&B material.

But whether or not “Overdose” actually dictates the direction of One Woman Army is anyone’s guess. Darkchild just instagrammed a photo from a studio session with CiCi (see above), which is a tad tired if you ask me.

Stay pop, CiCi, with just a splash of urban here and there. Fantasy Ride 2012, please!

    This is stuck in my head already so therefore it shits on “Sweat” and is the direction she needs to go in. People aren’t checkin for Crunk N B no more they want pop and it isn’t even selling out because “Fantasy Ride” went there first, the only reason that album flopped is bad promo…
    I’m rooting for Ciara, she needs to get it together and fast.

    After listening to this, I think she should record something that has the same vibe with Kylie Minogue or Janet Jackson. Her thin voice suits with those kinda songs very much IMO. Something dancey, upbeat, but far from generic.

    This is why I like artists like Kelis, she doesn’t go wherever the wind blows. Anywho, this is a good sound for Ciara and should be her lead single followed by an awesome video. But I’ve also got three words of advice for this go round, promo, promo, promo! She needs to be on everyone’s show performing and hitting radio stations. Wish her the best.
