NEW MUSIC! Britney Spears – 3 [New Single]

It’s now been over ten years since Britney Spears released her debut album …Baby One More Time, which went 14x platinum in the United States and sold over 25 million worldwide, and what better way to celebrate Britney’s success than a brand new single produced by the man who helped launch her career?

“3″ is the official lead from Britney’s upcoming best of compilation The Singles Collection, and is produced by the singers most well-known collaborator Max Martin. The Swedish hitmaker also helmed a number of Spears biggest tunes from “…Baby One More Time” to “Oops!… I Did It Again” and “Stronger”. Check out the provocative pop jam below.

Wow, if there was ever a song to mark Britney’s 10 years of ruling the pop scene than this is it. The club-heavy ode to group sex that is “3″ contains everything that makes Britney, Britney. It’s a perfect pure pop record!

The beat is a certified dancefloor filler, it’s a relentless and doesn’t stop, becoming more intense as the song picks up steam until it finally climaxes like a musical orgasm. The way it picks-up and stops, then changes tempo is amazing. The hook is insanely infectious, and actually rivals the catchiness of “Oh baby baby” and “Gimme gimme more, gimme gimme”

The lyrics are classic Britney; they’re flirty, sexy, provocative, tongue-in-cheek, and full of the cheeky faux-innocence we’ve come to expect from the girl who once tried to convince us that she was a ‘virgin’. This point is further driven home as Britney chants the hook like it’s a sexed-up nursery rhyme.

Vocally Spears comes across quite similar to “Mannequin” from her Circus album, with her voice being fed through autotune to the point where she sounds like a singing fembot crossed with a blow up a doll. What Britney does brilliantly though (and has done her whole career) is her ability to add her unique personality to the song.

Despite being heavily produced Britney never lets the song swallow her and she lets us know that she’s the one in charge. She also shows us why she’s one of the most successful female artists of all time by delivering yet another flawless anthem, maintaining a consistency and quality in her music that’s rarely seen in the genre.

Some people may argue that they wanted a more urban Britney this time around, but I think it was important that this record be completely pop. It’s how she started so it only makes sense that it should be how she celebrates her 10 year anniversary and new greatest hits compilation. Brilliant!

    It’s kinda too pop for my taste, but it’s quite catchy and a few more listens i might like it.
    Doubt she’ll go more urban, although I love her more urban songs. If she does something like In the Zone, or Circus i’ll be happy. If she goes back to the Blackout sound it’ll be awesome.

    Love it…my fave song of hers in a while. Not that I didn’t like Circus…I don’t think this song would sound out of place on Blackout. It would fit nicely between Heaven on Earth and Get Naked.

    i just think as a performer she is over rated. i know someone is gonna over exaggerate my opinion but oh well.

    she has had quite an extraordinary career and i have respect for that and i do sympathize with her term-oil and past horrible situations. but i can only sympathize with her for so long.

    The song is definitely pop bliss. It’s so catchy and addictive!

    And LiLi, you’re entitled to your opinion and points you made are vaild but the point with Britney is that yes she’s not the best singer, and now she’s not the best dancer, but she still releases music like THIS! And that’s why she’s relevant. I think Britney has proven to the world that she’s a true star and she’s had two children and went through some tough shit in the public eye, if when her first tour and album post breakdown come out i’m not gonna expect her to be the Britney she was years ago. And who knows, maybe she’ll slowly get back to her old self – Circus Tour was still pure entertainment.

    Point is, Britney has proven she’s a star and because of that people still respect her and support her. And as long as she continues to release quality pop people will continue to do so.

    and clarifying the performer side. as i said i do like her voice. the reason for mentioning it is due to the HYPE. i don’t mind her being appreciated as i said, i do still have a good level of respect for her. but it’s when people put her on a level that insults more effort making artists that doesn’t make sense. it’s not opinion that bothers me its the contradiction made when you got put off an artist for lip-synching once, and actually said you didn’t like them for that reason AND THAT REASON ONLY.

    And I’ve been doing some hardcore britney research the past few days. Everyone that’s worked with her have said she’s really involved in the process, even if she doesn’t write. Everyone compliments her on her ability to be produced and take direction, but they also mention that she knows her voice like no other and can finish a song in a second, and that she always puts her info in and never does something she doesn’t like.

    And yes her performing isnt as good but she’s been through a lot so give her time, she’s most probably medicated at the moment plus her confidence really took a battering.

    I feel like you almost can’t even put britney in the same sentence as these other chicks. She has her own indescribable x-factor

    The thing about Tranny BlahBlah is that she runs her mouth at every chance she gets about how much of an artist she is and how creative she is. Guess what? I am a painter, and went to school to get a degree in fine art…and TRUE artists and creative minds NEVER prattle on to others about how great they are. They let their craft speak for them. She can sit the fuck down. I have had her album since early 2008, and I am no hater. I loved her music till I her heard speak. And lately her so called originality is just plain annoying and ugly.

    And Beyonce? C’mon…yup saw her in concert this year. She is a true talent with an amazing voice. But she is anything but original. And that is fine with me since I have never heard her claim to be.

    Britney was first as far as I am concerned, and she will remain no matter what. It’s been 10+ years. She is Britney Spears and if she doesn’t want to sing live she really doesn’t have to anymore! She’s a superstar and can get away with pretty much anything now. She shaved her damn head and lost her mind for god’s sake, and we all still listen to her. Complain all you’d like about it, but The Circus Tour is the highest grossing tour in North America. All ya faves can’t top this bitch. And 3 will be number one.
