Nelly Furtado performs “Parking Lot” on Live! With Kelly & Michael

Nelly Furtado will be lucky to sell five copies of The Spirit Indestructible in America, so it’s a little weird seeing her suddenly performing “Parking Lot” on the country’s biggest talk show, Live! With Kelly and Michael. Not that I’m complaining. Its album release week and Nelly needs to put in some serious work to plug this underrated disc.

Nelly delivered a really fun performance, serving up her signature strong and unique vocals with a lot of sass and some Hawaiian hula moves.

Nelly looks so happy right now, like she doesn’t even care that TSI is set for a Fantasy Ride sized flop. Usually in these bleak situations, the album is pushed back repeatedly, the artist stomps around making excuses, half the songs leak and then the project is either scrapped or re-recorded with new material. In Nelly’s case, Interscope has gotten right behind her, releasing the album with no hit singles and still giving Nelly some decent first-week promo.

TSI isn’t even in the new releases section in Australian record stores (you have to go to the Nelly Furtado section to dig out a copy wedged behind Loose), but Nelly seems overjoyed just to be out performing her new music, with album sales and money just an afterthought.

Nelly’s attitude is so refreshing. Such a dignified goddess!

Are your faves this classy? If your fave is Alicia Keys, then the answer is no (*looks at “Put It In a Love Song*).

This won’t even be a Fantasy Ride sized flop. At least that album had one hit single to its name. I listened to this album- its pretty bad. But Waiting for the Night is pretty great and probably should have been her lead single. There’s also a duet with some random dude called Be OK and it’s Adult Contemporary goodness.

Nelly has so much pep. I wish she were on The X Factor panel with Britney.

As I’ve said before, she clearly gives no fucks if this album is successful. She’s performing fucking Parking Lot FFS. I love the song, but it’s an obvious flop. Spirit and Hoops at least had some commercial feel. It’s refreshing seeing Interscope fully backing her as well. Shocking might be a better word.

Her music is flawless though. its refreshing to see that she put her hard work and time and whether or not its successful the album still sees the light of day

“Are your faves this classy?” Yes, actually. But only because she’s on such a cocktail of Paxil, Prozac, Luvox and Zoloft that she doesn’t even know what time of day it is. Only a true kween.

i’ll be honest, i’m not really a fan of ‘The Spirit Indestructible’ as an album …. but I have to say there’s a few DAMN GOOD gems on there! ‘Parking Lot’, ‘Bucket List’, ‘Something’, ‘Big Hoops’ … oh MAN. Flawless…. Hoping everything works for Nelly!

Nelly Furtado will sell worldwide. She’s awesome and this cd is NOT bad at all..It’s an awesome mix of Loose/Whoa Nelly/Folklore era just modernized! People who won’t get it won’t get it. Nelly isn’t as light as people think she is. She’s no Fergie (simpleton). Even Loose had a lot of depth for being such a glossed over pop album. People just didn’t read between the lines! This Spirit Indestructible has owned my soul! P!nk album is good as well for just the frothy “fuck you” angst to get out! but Nelly Furtado touches the soul and makes your groove on a different level! LOVE PARKING LOTS!!

I see the stan coming out of you haha. But I also see a lot of truth.

I love the fact that she is gonna pull a Natalia Kills and release the thing anyway cause it SLAYS! to the very last vein, like it’s amazing, so far this month Imagine Dragons and Nelly Furtado are the best albums (until No Doubt comes and eat everybody up) so happy to see the light at the end of the tunnel for this month releases. Really who gives a fuck about how much you sell when you album turns out to be crap? is better not to sell much and have a good album.

I love Nelly, parking lot is awesome!

This album will be a Basic Instinct size flop, but probably worse! At least Fantasy Ride went Top 5 in its first week before dropping off and had a hit in Love Sex Magic!
Nelly is awesome though! And TSI is one of her best albums yet, if not her best; it’s close with Loose. PARKING LOT deserves success; it’s an amazing tune! Hold Up, Waiting for the Night, Bucket List, Spirit Indestructible and Big Hoops are the standouts, but the majority of the album is FIRE anyway.
I love how Nelly oozes with so much personality every time she performs; despite being nasally in parts, she always SLAYS with each performance, bringing with her so much charisma.

That song was cute :) And the album is called spirit indestructible! Her spirit IS indestructible despite having a flop album!
