Nelly Furtado announces release date for new “fun pop” English album!
Nelly Furtado has announced that the official release date of her fourth English album will be May 25th, 2010.
She also opened up a little about the vibe of the record, comparing it to her debut critically-acclaimed ‘Whoa, Nelly!’.
“I think just generally it’s still going to be pop but I want it to have a more light energy. Sort of like my first album, but not sonically, more in a spiritual sense… more like my first album.
“I don’t know if it’s going to be the same sound [as Loose] but I have worked a little bit with Timbaland who produced that album so it might have some of the same fun and energy, but not like exactly the same.”
Oh thank God. It sounds to me like Nelly isn’t going to let Timbaland recycle those same old beats, and she’ll be pushing him creatively to try new things and create some magic like on Loose.
I think that Whoa Nelly scrapes in as her best album though, so to know that she’s combining the vibe of that album with Loose whilst still trying new things has me pretty confident about her next record.
Also currently attached to the album are Ryan Tedder and Salaam Remi. Who else would you like to see Nelly work with? I think if she’s using Timbo then she definitely needs Danja to. Are you excited for the new English album? I know I am! *hyperventilates and dies*

Yayyyyyyy I’m so sick of Timbaland! especially after the comment he made about lady gaga he can go to hell for all I care! I think Danja is a wayyyy better producer than Timbaland. Danja’s beats are trashier hotter yet classy idk if that made any sense but it does in my head lol. I think she needs to work with Danja, Avant and Bloodshy and even JT? even though he’s like Timbaland (sorry Proph I know u love him but to me he sounds the same in his productions.. dont kill me! haha)
why did she wait so long to do another album
should have came out with a new one right after LOOSE like a year or 2 1/2 years later, she had hit after hit off that album, you don’t slow down your hotness you keep going, she’s never been that big of a star before prior to LOOSE, then she became more known cause she went more mainstream/commercial (some call her a “sell out”)
‘Say it right’ is still my shit though.
I’m very excited, I actually LOVE “Loose”…every single track, Timbo & Danja created magic that time around. I don’t want Ryan Repeater or RedDumb to be producing on this record. I do want her to experiment with more primarily urban producers such as The Neptunes, Polow Da Don & MAYBE Tricky Stewart. Also, Bloodshy & Avant & The Y’s.
I agree she needs DANJA back. I often forget that it was Danja who brought the fire to Justin and Nelly.
And Nelly isnt the type of artist to just churn out an album for the sake of hits. She’s a real artist and she needs time to be inspired.

I love the fact that Nelly Furtado is back in the studio however, I wish that she would not work with the likes of Ryan Tedder. He has really gotten on my last neves. The dude can write a song ok but that’s it. Like as soon as he opens his mouth I’m just like stfu.lol. I would like to see her work with some up and coming producers like Maddscientist or even some new songwriters like lil eddie. I think that they can really take her career back to that energy that she is looking for. But I love Danja so we shall see.

Nelly was fine on her own and she was fine with Timbaland, Whoa Nelly and Folklore are both so pure where as Loose is 75% pure, and to be honest Mi Plan it has that Nelly Furtado-ness and managed to stay number 1 in the LAtin Billboard for 4 weeks!
No mattter what she won’t dissapoint!
