Natalia Kills hits the road with Katy Perry, talks “Kill My Boyfriend” and more

Natalia Kills has been a busy bee!
The dark-pop star will finally release her Perfectionist album in the US on August 16th, and as a treat, it’ll include a brand new track titled “Kill My Boyfriend”. Kills co-wrote and co-produced the track with popular French DJ Junior Caldera (Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s “Can’t Fight The Feeling”), but despite the Euro connection, “Kill My Boyfriend” still has the same rocky edge that fills up a lot of Perfectionist.
Speaking of the song, Kills tells The Prophet Blog: “The story is that my lovely high school sweetheart comes back to town; we’d broken up years ago when he went off to college. When he comes back I’m actually engaged to someone else who’s a bit of a dick, but his family are nice and I don’t want to go through the drama of breaking up with him and being called a slut for running off with someone else on my wedding night, so I decide the best way to get out of it is just to kill him. It’s such a happy song cause I’m back in love with my old boyfriend… Super deranged, but very happy.”
Finally a pop song with a new take on love! It’s about time. Check out a 30 second preview of “Kill My Boyfriend” below.
To promote Perfectionist in the States, Kills will be hitting the road for a club tour, as well as supporting a bunch of dates on the US leg of Katy Perry’s boob-a-licious California Dreams tour.
Kills current single “Free” feat Will.i.am is out now, and it’s already doing well in Europe, which has been Kills main market so far. It just rose to No. 30 on the German charts in its second week out, easily out-peaking the underrated “Wonderland” which only reached No. 55, so hopefully it will continue to climb in the coming weeks.
Besides her own music, Kills is featured on LMFAO’s “Champagne Showers”, which is currently charting across the globe. I don’t even know if that squaking auto-tuned chipmunk voice on the track is actually really Natalia or not, but she is giving me fierce supreme diva realness in the music video, and the song shits on “Party Rock”!
