[Music Video] Nicki Minaj Feat. Chris Brown – “Right By My Side”

Nicki Minaj has just dropped the music video for her third official Roman Reloaded single, “Right By My Side” featuring Chris Brown.

This is the first time I’ve ever even heard the song, and right before I hit play on VEVO, I was thinking to myself deep down that it could be really good, and that I’d be forced to right really nice things about Nicki on my blog. Luckily, “Right By My Side” turned out to be another typically sucky Nicki single, giving me a free pass to keep on dragging the silicone songstress.

The production features the kind of generically stock standard urban radio beat that any half-baked Hip-Hop hitmaker could whip up with their eyes closed, while Nicki adds insult to the injury by singing instead of rapping. Who the fuck told Nicki she could sing in the first place? Vocally, she’s on a Paris Hilton / Laurieann Gibson level. Horrific. I thought things would pick up when she rapped near the end, but she just dropped a few bars about dick and pussy, so it was all one big blah.

But this is a music video post, so I should talk about that. Uh, it’s cute. Nicki just does romantic things with Nas and Chris Brown pops up somewhere. The artificial rapstress also tones down her image a lot and looks great for it, and her blonde weave was giving me life.

So to sum it up: bad song, nice hair.

    After reading this blog extensively, I’m surprised to hear you don’t like Nicki, but I feel like it’s just her shitty, label-forced singles. You must give her album a try. A lot of the better material is there.

    Nicki, unlike that other chick, is capable of singing live and when she does there’s no denying it’s an excellent pop voice.
    it’s not some earth shattering Adelle (insert other big voiced songstress) set of pipes, but much like britney she has a cute pop tone perfect for the type of material she does.

    i personally wish she would stop being so damn nervous about what people are saying and would instead do more performances without the playback vocals cuz, as seen on Ellen, she’s capable of sounding just like the record.

    Label forced??? seems like her label gave her MORE control this era and that’s how she ended up with such a crazy 22 track steaming pile of dog shit on a disc not to mention her AWFUL Grammy performance.

    The song…. eh…. forgettable. Her singing skills aren’t on the same level as Paris, but God knows she’s no songstress. Her lyrical skills are decent at times, but it is what it is I guess. Rare to find someone that’s on point at all times.

    nicki’s mvs from RR have been seriously dissapointing so far.  Starships, BITT, and this are all generic to bad.  oh well, at least most of the music is still good.
