[Music Video] Koda Kumi’s new electro-flop “Whatchu Waitin’ On?”

Koda Kumi is a hot mess, but that’s why we love her. Japonesque was all over the place and contained some of the cheapest, most outdated trash I’ve ever heard, but it still thoroughly slayed my life. Too bad I can’t say the same for her  new single “Whatchu Waitin’ On”, which is lifted from the J-diva’s next flop remix album, Beach Mix.

“Whatcha Waitin’ On” is the kind of thing that 2NE1 would have recorded for their first album if that album had been really shitty (which it wasn’t). It’s basically just an autotuned Kumi screeching and shouting over a shrill electro beat that’s been fused with some generic as HAAAIILLL dubstep in a cheap attempt to make it sound more contemporary.

My ears are most definitely bleeding.

The music video is a whole lotta fun, though. The styling isn’t very flattering, but the special effects are great, making this one of the few basic green screen music videos that doesn’t actually looks like a basic green screen music video.

I’m not going to buy or even illegally download Beach Mix, but you can bet that the remixes of “TABOO” and “KO-SO-KO-SO” will be better than “Whatchu Waitin’ On”.

    I actually really like it. It’s cute & catchy. Inoffensive enough. Well, until you get to that “breakdown” in the middle. I’ve had enough of those because they’re never done properly.

    Oh, I am SO here for Kumi’s remix albums. Her Driving Hit’s collections are absolutely free of all flaws, if Beach Mix is half as good as any of those albums then I’m as good as slayed.

    Does this mean that Koda is going to keep things g rated??

    I dont like it but its new Koda. Does sound like something 2NE1 would use as filler on an album. Hoping for a Be My Baby remix on her new cd. Or even a remix of Black Cherry.

    I hope Meisa Kuroki dont do something like this with here comeback. Last Code, Parade or Shake It Off would make perfect singles.

    UGH… this is so 2NE1… I’m disappointed but not really surprised tbh, seems like she isn’t really interested (she is pregnant so she has that excuse) and (SL)Avex are just pushing another miscellaneous album out of her conveyor belt pussy before that baby clogs it up SMH…
    I wish they would have used this pregnancy as a time to put nothing out and let the fans miss her but already they’re dropped “Japonesque”, “Driving hits 4″, “Koda Kumi live tour 2011: Deja Vu” and now “Beach mix” this shit is ridiculous, nobody at Avex has any sense left apparently and that’s why that label is going down the drain.

    The thing is I’m no Blackjack, I’m a Kuuter actually. I find this song more dance than any 2NE1 song. And yeah, I get touchy over Kuu.
    BTW, she’s 8 months pregnant and still releases stuff – True Queen.

    i think of “please dont go” over the other 2ne1 songs :) but i really think they would have rocked this song. even the silly things they do to daras hair isnt as bad as the comically large hair pins and spikes on kumis face_and i LIKE kumi, haha

    It’s fun and catchy, I love it. It sounds like a remix because it’s a single for a remix album, I thought that was obvious. I like it more than most of Japonesque.

    I like her new song a lot. It’s not her best work but it’s still good. Based on how you expressed yourself, it’s obvious you don’t really like her which is fine but if you’re going to write a review it should be unbiased.
