[Music Video] Kazaky – Last Night

Kazaky are back with a new single called “Last Night”, and this time around, there’s something majorly different about our favorite Ukrainian man band.

First of all, they’re no longer wearing their trademark high heels. Seeing the hunky foursome sans stilettos isn’t quite as disconcerting as I was expecting though, and by the halfway mark I was pretty much over it. Secondly, Kazaky have stopped dancing, and are they’re now getting down and dirty with women (not drag queens — actual females with vaginas). Have Kazaky gone straight? Not quite. According to Queerty, the “Last Night” music video is just an “abstract expression of love and passion”, while the second lady-less part is “an artistic expression of illusions and vain expectations.”

Whatever it is, it’s hot tamale, and it still contains the same kind of artsy, avante-garde raunch that we all love from the dance troupe.

“Last Night” is the first track that Kazaky have written themselves, which explains why it deviates from their past sound. For the most part, it’s a smouldering, stuttery midtempo laced with melodic chords and jagged synths, but the song shifts gears in the last minute into a dirty electro beat that’s much closer to the group’s trademark club-ready sound.

Despite all the drastic changes in the group, “Last Night” still manages to work on every level. Let’s just hope that they don’t make this a regular thing. Kazaky may be evolving, but they’re still dancers at heart, and we come to see them twerk. Their high heels and elastic choreography is what sets them apart from every other male group out there. Nobody wants to see that aspect go down the drain.

Check out “Last Night” below, and keep an eye out for Kazaky’s guaranteed to be flawless debut album The Hills Chronicles when it drops on October 22nd.

While the finish is briliant, the rest of the song is kind of blah…

It actually sounds like something Kylie Minogue would do, circa “Slow”. I really like the song. I am now looking forward to the album.

Kazaky is all about being artistic and different though, not about breathtaking vocals… this video is just as good as what they did before, they can’t always do the same thing in their videos, people need to have variety;)
