[Music Video] Jeffree Star – “Prom Night”
I felt so much second hand embarrassment for Akon back when he announced that he had signed “the male Lady GaGa” Jeffree Star to his label almost two years ago. Not because I have anything against Jeffree, but because Akon is so thick that he automatically assumed that the first guy he saw wearing a wacky outfit was automatically GaGa with a penis. Not to mention that it took him so long to even discover Jeffree in the first place, who had already been a top web celebrity for years before Akon arrived late to the party.
It’s taken Kon Live Entertainment a while to properly roll out Jeffree’s ‘first’ single “Prom Night”, but now that it’s here, you’ll probably wish that they had kept it locked away next to that unreleased Tami Chynn album.
For anybody that’s followed the pop career of Jeffree, “Prom Night” is beyond disappointing. The only thing that ever made his music good in the first place was the exciting production (see his debut album ‘Beauty Killer’), and now that the beats have been replaced with the most Z-grade Taio Cruz leftover shit under the sun, there’s nothing redeemable about Star’s tunes at all.
The music video is equally as horrendous. Star crashes a prom party that looks like it’s being held in Chris Crocker’s garage, throws a drink on some girl (why is a grown twenty-something man attacking a teenage girl at the prom? Not cool), crowd surfs, pouts his plastic lips, and then guns down the prom king and queen.
Yawn.
The only thing Star has in common with Lady GaGa is that they’re both overstyled hypocrites trying to sell individuality through complete and utter conformity.
