[Music Video] Girls’ Generation – All My Love Is For You

It took me a while to appreciate the flawlessness of Girls’ Generation‘s last Japanese single “Paparazzi”, but their latest effort, a gorgeous ballad titled “All My Love Is For You”, has won me from the get-go.
Technically, “All My Love Is For You” is actually the b-side for the group’s upcoming as-yet-untitled new Jap single, but I’m so besotted with it that I’d be happy to see it upgraded to an A-side.
It’s the kind of nondescript radio-friendly song I’ve heard a tonne of times in J-Pop before (who got it from American pop), but its a solid formula that really works when executed correctly. SNSD sound beautiful, positively bursting with all their usual girl next door charm as they switch between solo lines and lush harmonies. The production, a Ryan Tedder-esque drum beat with orchestral splashes, has just enough oomph to stay in ballad territory without sounding like a typical slow-motion snoozer (a boring crime that many Asian pop ballads commit).
But as much as I love the song, I have to admit that it’s the music video that’s really grabbed me. Girls’ Gen somehow get hotter and more stunning with every passing era, and this video takes their beauty up another notch following The Boys era. As a whole, the clip is definitely inspired by Paula Abdul’s “Cold Hearted”, with a spacious studio setting complete with convenient scaffolding ready to pose on. The fashion, which is pretty hip and edgy –especially for SNSD– is rooted in the late eighties and early nineties, with Sunny serving up some serious Paula realness in a black ensemble and cap.
I could sit here all day listing how ridiculously gorgeous each member looked, but truthfully, they all looked spectacular. There isn’t another girl group on the planet that radiates the same kind of youthful elegance and pure beauty that Girls’ Generation do.
Expect SNSD to stun us all over again when the music video for their A-side track drops later this month.
