miss A make their live return with “Touch” and “Over U”

Even though I’m not feeling miss A‘s “Touch”, I’ve been gagging all week to see their comeback stage. The foursome always kill it live, and I’ve been holding out hope that they’d perform “Lips” or “No Mercy” as well. Instead they did my least favorite song from their Touch mini, “Over U”, but they compensated for it by absolutely slaying the choreography, which I knew they would.
miss A really delivered on the dance front, so much so that I think I may even like “Over U” now. Even Suzy was good and didn’t lag behind the other members like she usually does. I’m not exactly sure what the concept for this performance was, but I’m calling it ‘the popular teenage girl shopping at the mall on Saturday with her friends‘ look, and I liked it a lot.
After “Over U”, the girls transformed into dark and sexy K-divas to perform their Gothic-disco flop “Touch”. The routine for this song is so unique and bizarre that I couldn’t wait to see them do it live, and they totally nailed it. They also sung a lot of the song completely live, so we could hear their voices instead of having them drowned out by the backing track like with T-ara and 2NE1. Considering that miss A perform much more difficult choreography than both those groups combined, you’ve gotta give ‘em props.
There were a few things that I didn’t like, though. The flesh-colored bandage dresses didn’t look as good on stage as they do in the video, and they could’ve done more with the lighting effects. More interesting lighting really would’ve made the set come to life more, but it wasn’t a huge issue given the quality of their overall performance.
I think that “Touch” is going to be miss A’s worst-performing single to date, since it had already slipped to No. 3 on the Instiz chart as of yesterday, but they should still nab some music program wins since BIGBANG won’t be back on stage until March 11. At the moment, their biggest competition could end up being former Superstar K2 contestant John Park, who is currently outselling them with his flawless acoustic ballad “Falling”. “Falling” is pretty amazing, and I have a feeling that it’s only going to continue to gain more and more popularity over the next couple of weeks.
It’s not too late to start promoting “Lips”, miss A! (It totally is, but I’m just going to ignore reality).
