Miley Cyrus discusses her new album in Marie Claire

It’s almost time to strap on ya boots and start liberty walkin’ again, because Miley Cyrus has a new album on the way, and it’s going to be mayjah.

The Queen of Green opened up about her upcoming classic in the latest issue of Marie Claire magazine, revealing that Pharrell Williams joined the project after seeing the video of Milegend chuffing on a bong.

Check out an excerpt from the article below.

Cyrus is currently wrapping up work on an as-yet-untitled, genre-bending new album certain to smash her reputation as pop doll. She collaborated on a few tracks with hip-hop mega-producer Pharrell Williams, who reached out to her last year following her much-publicized Savlia incident, which found the former Hannah Montana star slammed by parents and the press for a video that showed her smoking what she insists was a Salvia plant – hallucinogenic but perfectly legal. “Pharrell said, ‘Don’t be offended because this is how I talk, but [I thought], that bitch is actually living. She’s not sitting there with her Momager’s chain on her door. I want to free that bitch. I want her out of her cage,’” Cyrus says intensely, her big blue eyes widening. During four week-long stints at his Miami studio, she recorded several songs, all largely autobiographical.

“I’d never worked like that before,” Cyrus recalls. I was talking to him like he was an older brother, and everything I said was going onto the track. [I told my manager Bruce Flohr], I don’t need the money. I don’t care if I make a dime on this. Let me make a good record.’ I got in there with Pharrell, and it was magic. Oh, dude, I’m so happy.”

Autobiographical genre-bending reputation-smashing albums for the win!!!

To make things even more exciting, MiJesus CyBuddha has also worked with Hit-Boy, who produced “N*ggas In Paris” for The Porcelain Throne and the third best song from Rihanna’s Talk That Talk album, “Watch ‘n’ Learn”.

I’m so excited right now you guys, but can we please get a little bit of country/rock Miley on the album, too?

I hope her album isn’t gonna be as urban as that article made it sound.

  • Luke

I can’t imagine her crazy twangy accent working on hip hop or “urban” songs, but whatever. I’m intrigued nonetheless.

sounds promising. but i have to echo the other posts here about her voice on a more urban song. i’ll wait and see. as for pharrell, how britney of her! slave 4 u teas

    WHAAAAA???
Not-so-innocent former Disney princess working on a new hip-hop sound with a past-his-prime hip-hop producer?
    How edgy and unique!

This is going to be incredible. I thought “Can’t Be Tamed” was severely underrated. Miley’s got such a distinct style and attitude and I’m beyond ready to hear that come out in her music. Let’s pray the album photoshoot is as good as the Marie Claire article.

Sounds a little bit like P!nk circa her Linda Perry days. I’m kind of excited.

I’m actually not gonna lie… I like Miss Miley… And I am pumped for this project!

  • ImHighPrice

Okay…I’m hyped…I love it when pop artists go urban….

  • TLo

Let me guess, the album will sound like Demi Lovato’s Unbroken.

This doesn’t even make sense? She can’t work on hip-hop because she’s not so innocent? She can’t work with Pharrell because he’s been out of the game for a while? Using a Demi Lovato gif is inappropriate.

Sounds defining and trascendental and like it’s gonna slay. I’m excited because I know it’s definitely gonna be “genre-bending,” in between working with Pharrell, Hit-Boy, Pop Wansel and collaborating with Wiz Khalifa, Snoop Dogg and Mac Miller, we’ve got the urban area well-covered (I’m hoping for some choreography incorporation.)

And she’s working with pop soul-jazz singer/songwriter MoZella so I’m stoked about that as well because I feel like this album is going to be versatile but at the same time cohesive in the same way the classic-filled “Can’t Be Tamed” was in a way only Miley can develop.

omfg that picture of her is BREATHTAKING

    this album sounds exciting too!

  • SerferTJ

LOL, You missed my point completely!!
Basically, I’m saying that this whole synopsis of Miley’s new album sounds JUST like what Demi did…LAST YEAR. http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m8eiklf9cf1rt0jruo1_250.gif
This news is nothing to get your stan-panties in a bunch over.

  • TYLER

UM DEMI LAVATO CAN SING HER BUTT OFF BUT SHE DOESNT HAVE A DISTINCT COUNTRY TONE LIKE MILEY DOES.. THATS WHY ITS SO SURPRISING FOR MILEY. AND DEMI DID NOT GO COMPLETELY URBAN LIKE MILEY IS DOING. SECONDLY MILEY IS BIGGER THAN DEMI LOVATO

    This could potentially be amazing.

Britney was a Disney queen before working with Pharrell and look at the final results.

Together they made some of the best music of her career and completely reinvented her into a sexy edgy performer.

If Miley and Pharrell could recreate some of that magic it could be genius. i just hope it doesn’t sound dated.

  • http://twitter.com/cuntgettineaten mala hierba

But Demi Lovato is a flop so I don’t know why she’s even being bought up here?

  • mimifan

    bitch is so underrated.

  • Luke

Britney was not a Disney Queen. Why do people think that? She was on the MMC when she was 12. Her record deal came years later and independent from Disney.

Omg, you discovered the caps lock button on your keyboard! Congratulations! It’d be super if you learned how to switch it off now…

Omfg, shaking and crying. Kween Milegendary Godrus always leaves me slayed, cremated, and scattered. We should be so lucky that she has decided to bless us all with more of her distinctive, country twinged, husky tones.

    MY BODY IS READY.

  • Praque Jones

I Like her, her Disney era. She’s so charming! The climb or 7Things more, pleaseeee….
