Mariah Carey’s “Triumphant” fails to debut on the Hot 100

Mariah Carey‘s new single “Triumphlop (Flop ‘Em)” makes a disastrous debut on the charts this week, coming at at No. 15 on Billboard’s Bubbling Under chart. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the charts, that’s the equivalent of No. 115 on the Hot 100.

To further put the level of this phloppage into perspective, Beyonce’s 4 bonus cut “Dance For You” is currently higher than Mariah at No. 11.

“Triumphlop” shifted 23,000 downloads in its first week, which means that Mariah has less than 23,000 lambs left in America if you factor in that most of them would have purchased the song multiple times.

Despite having a music video on the way and a high-profile performance at The Giants Vs. Cowboys game in early September, chances of “Triumphlop” making a comeback are slim. The song was out of the iTunes top 100 within about two or three days of its release, and it’s since fallen out of the top 200 all together.

Awkward.

    The reason this is so heartbreaking for hardcore lambs is she really was in incredible voice during the Merry Christmas II You era. You heard glimpses of her 90′s vocal gymnastics and solid belting. But this song is so horrible it’s not about her voice. It’s just musically lazy. I don’t know what to think about her upcoming album.

    The song is horrible….if she repeated “Get em, get em, get em” for 3-4 mins then it would be a little bit bearable. She always does this…her first single be horrible to mediocre and then she would release an amazing power ballad later. She need that power ballad that could be play on these tasteless radio stations.

    I don’t hate Mariah. I always respect artists. But Not myself tonight was peaked at #23. Don’t bring Xtina here to bully. And I think Mariah is very good at ballads. This song is not worth when thinkin’ abt her vocal ability

    I’ll chime In cuz everyone else is… #23 is surprisingly good seeing as ‘Not Myself Tonight’ was a generic piece of sludge, launched after Christina Aguilera had been M-I-A since 2007… You can’t disappear for that long and come back with something so un-fresh… ESPECIALLY when there was a new queen B like Lady GaGa in the heat of her prime .. Christina never stood a chance copping generic crap like that. It came off desperate. Shame too, cuz vocally Christina buries the rest, and her ‘Back to Basics’ Tour was 100% flawless. Mariah is in the same boat now. With vocalists like Adele reigning supreme, you can’t come out with generic, dated crap like ‘Triumphant’ and expect a hit. Not in this market …

    BYE… Xtina has had ONE flop album and her soundtrack released after that has performed better, Mariah has had THREE flop albums in a row (plus “Glitter”)… She’s still a legend but she’s way ahead at flopping than Xtina.
    Either way, They’re both still earning millions so…
    Having said that Mariah needs to make some decent music, “Bionic” was an ok album, if Xtina had cut the tracklist to the best 12 songs it would have been really good.

    I love Xtina god knows I love her. I stan hard for her…but her reputation is really bad. Her gain of weight didn’t help neither. Plus she’s got this very stank attitude going on and she’s not making friends with it. She just needs to polish her act, use a a thigh trainer here and there and put out decent music and as you mentioned Luke “trimm the fat of her albums aka reduce the track numbers”.
