Mariah Carey shoots down rumours of split with label Def Jam

The internet has been abuzz the past few days with rumours that Mariah Carey is planning on leaving her record label Island Def Jam once the promotion for her latest album Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel wraps up.

Well I thought the news was a little fishy so I reached out to Mimi’s hubby Nick Cannon, who was quick to shoot down the rumours which he labelled as “untrue”.

The rumor is definitely untrue. We are about release the remix album!

So I guess we can chalk this one down to unreliable websites and bloggers trying to cause drama. Why would the Queen Bee want to leave her hive? Mariah probably hasn’t even decided what her next move will be yet.

She may get pushed around a little by L.A. Reid over single choices, but you can’t deny that she doesn’t receive top notch promotion and support from the label who helped take her back to the top with The Emancipation of Mimi.

    No clue sorry! When I talk to Nick it’s usually about his stuff, he doesn’t really blab about Mariah and I don’t ask, but I just wanted to check with him about this rumour because I saw that it was being picked up by ET and stuff and I wanted to find out if it was true or not.

    Release the remix- are the crazy? that will bomb! moia debuted at #80 in Ireland this week and it will miss the top 15 spot in England for the album and the single.

    That with all the promotion she did in England. Now the album is #95 in the usa- it’s a wrap but no one wants to go home.

    I love MC but she needs to focus on her acting for a little while maybe for 3yrs than come back and make music look at what happened when she took a break after Glitter she took a well deserved break and she came back with The Emancipation of Mimi which was a great album than E=mc was crap and this is crap.

    I actually really enjoy MOIA as a whole and think its great when I’m just relaxing.
    However I don’t think any of the songs by themselves can be released as highly successful singles.

    I love this women to death!! But u can agree back in 2005 the promotion was crazzyyy…. They went over the top with “The Emancipation…” It was hot! It deserved it’s success… I’m just mad cause she is an amazing talent and I feel her label and promo managers aren’t giving it their all! I’m not saying they havnt done anything! They’ve done a lot! But c’mon we talkin’ bout “MARIAH CAREY” They also gotta let her choose the single or have more input! She didn’t want IWTKWLI and it didn’t do so well!
    Wateva happens I love her music and the album! And I would love to see make a big hit like in ’05! LUVYA MCC!!!

    I agree with robier. Mariah wasn’t relevant this time around at defjam.. cause rihanna was getting all the promo. mariah got the knock off’s and LAreid’s shit single choices. I love the eom and even the album after that had it;s hits.. but none of them came out or got real bad video’s to acompany them. So yeah.. a few years off wouldn’t be such a bad idea.

    I love MC and all her cds. im not “obsessed” with how many singles she releases or how many promotional appearances she makes! the fact of the matter is that she is an amazing singer and i lover her songs regardless if anyone else like her! if she only sells 2 copies it would not change that one of those copies would be mine cuz her cd is amazing! I love me some MC!~
