Mariah Carey reunites with Jermaine Dupri and B-Cox for new album!

Less than a month after announcing that her Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel remix album had been scrapped Mariah Carey is already back to work on her next project – and she’s brought back some old faces to help her!

About an hour ago the workaholic diva tweeted a brand new picture of herself and Jermaine Dupri in the studio together (as seen above), accompanied by the following message:

“To all the Lambs in the land..Finally!!!Me& Jermash are in his studio reliving the splendor working on new ish”

As Mimi was tweeting her heart out, JD was doing the same and a few words of his own to say: “to all the lambs out there me and mc are in studio right now working on the new album yall been askin for it.”

I thought most of the fans specifically said that they didn’t want a new album and wanted her to take a little vacation?

Moving on… After those tweets Mariah actually dragged her divariffic derriere onto a live Ustream feed from the studio, and luckily yours truly was there to catch all the action. Not much was going but Mariah was writing lyrics by herself, as well as goofing off with Jermaine and B-Cox.

As you know JD and B-Cox not only helmed Mariah’s ill-fated “100%”, but they also worked with her on her albums Charmbracelet, The Emancipation of Mimi and E=MC2.

The recording of the new album is still in the early stages though, with JD saying, and I quote, “this is just day one of the new shit”.

Sounds to me like Mariah tried to take a chance with Memoirs by enlisting The-Dream & Tricky and it didn’t pay off , so now she’s doing what she knows best and going back to basics with some familiar faces.

    e=mc2 has some great tracks, but there were about 5 we belong together knock offs on it. she doesnt need money, she doesnt need to pander to new fans, she’s got enough already. she needs to focus on making something classic from beginning to end.

    @ Pete at this point in her career I think she really only makes music because she enjoys it and to give her fans something……I feel like on Memoirs she did an album that she wanted and enjoyed it wasn’t a huge commercial success, but I don’t think that’s what Mariah really cares about anymore

    The only reason people diss MOAIA is because it flopped. The music was hot, it was the label troubles deciding what was going to be the next single. If H.A.T.E.U. was released before the album dropped, it would’ve been a success. With a better video of course. MOAIA was the best female R&B album to drop last year. No other urban female artist could touch that album.

    it’s true about the memoirs-era videos too, what a heap of shit. the hateu video was so removed from the lyrical content of the song it was disgraceful. and the i want to know what love is video was a joke.

    the emancipation-era videos were epic, especially it’s like that and we belong together. her tracks deserve videos that involve more brainstorming than “tits” and “bikini” and “beach”.

    Well, I never mind a new MC album, there are always a few good songs on it and I love that she is working with Jermaine again, but as long as it’s a Christmas album, I dont care.
    I want E=MC3 LOL cause I think E=MC2 could have done beter if she released “For The Record”, “Migrate” and “Side Effects” instead of the shit songs she released.

    I am so SICK & TIRED of people saying that Mariah belongs to the past, is irrelevant, too old etc. If she is irrelevant why does she have 18 #1′s???

    Mariah is one of the greatest artists ever and new music from her is always welcomed with open arms.
    I hope she does some risky songs, maybe a little like “Time Of Your Life” or something.

    E=MC2 is way too underrated.Memoirs on the other hand,deserves the criticism it gets.Let’s face it,as an album it was BORING.She went for coherence but ended up with an album whose songs sound pretty much the same.Standing O was by far the best track.I also like Angels Cry,Up Out My Face,Obsessed,H.A.T.E.U. and that’s that.

    I wish people would stop saying “go have a baby”, “sit down” etc. Don’t you think if she wanted to have a baby she would? If she felt like sitting down she would? She has an opportunity to do what she loves everyday, so she does. I perrsonaly can’t wait for the new music. And if she wants to rest or have a baby she will when she’s good and ready.

    Bring it on! Never have enough MC. Her last three CD’s have been great in my opinion and Butterfly is definitely her best. “The Roof” is my all-time favorite song from her as well.

    Let’s hope they make magic, and I agree, no more rehashes of We Belong Together.

    yall all acting as if the album is coming out tomorrow, well, its not . when these three get together its EPIC.

    “Memoirs…” was not a commercial success, but it did garner some of the best reviews since the “Butterfly” album. the album was not bad in any aspect. what screwed her was the single choices, & bad videos. Obsessed charted in the top 10, and sold over a million downloads, which is not an easy feat.

    “E=MC2″ didn’t sell as much as “Emancipation” but she did get a number one single, and the best opening week in her 20 year career. and it has went on to sell a few million copies. plus, thanx for nothing and for the record were great ballads, both by jermaine.

    100% is epic, vocal wise, she goes off in that song & if you havent listened, i suggest you do so. They are gonna give her those huge ballads she needs, we need to see her use every aspect of her voice.

    overall, to say im excited would be an understatement.

    & they wouldnt be releasing it this year anyway, she has a Christmas album she’s been writing for and a Christmas musical with the same people who did “High school musical” coming. And a movie she starts filming in june, with janet, whoopi, ect.

    Memoirs was not good. It was so boring and the only bearable track was Obsessed which was generic and uninteresting to begin with. Thank god radio killed that song to death otherwise it would’ve flopped just as badly as the album. She needs to release the album in Spring of 2011 so the first single can be the summer ANTHEM. That’s what it’ll take to get her back on top, an anthem. She needs an awesome song and a few good performances on a large stage to solidify her second comeback.

    I dunno why people think having a kid will make Mariah’s music better. How would that help? Well I have mixed feelings. I didn’t even like Mariah until her 2005 Emancipation album came out. We Belong Together hit the spot. I thought E=MC2 rocked also. When I first got Memoirs a year ago I was about to cry it sucked so much. But then when you give it a chance and listen to it, you connect with the songs and emotions. But I just expected more pop instead of slow old-Mariah stuff. I’ll just have to wait and see on this one.
