Mariah Carey performs “I Want To Know What Love Is” on Italian X Factor

Mariah Carey is currently doing the European promo rounds for her new album Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel, appearing on the Italian X Factor tonight to perform her single “I Want To Know What Love Is”.

She looked beautiful and really sung the hell out of this song. Mariah’s previously described “I Want To Know What Love Is” as a straight up vocal performance, so it was good to see that she managed to hit all the whistles and power notes. According to everyone it was lip-synced, but whatever it was it sounded good to me!

I know that some people are getting sick of her constantly wearing the “the little black dress”, but she looks amazing so if it ain’t broke don’t fix it!

    Mariah has perfected the art of tacking on her whistle notes so it seems as if she is singing them, lol!
    Those tits are almost in her mouth, ugggh! Glad to see her interacting with the contestants but I can’t take her seriously when she lips part of her songs. Just sing all live

    Yeah I agree I think she lipped some of that. Doesn’t matter though. I’ve heard her do better renditions of that song completely live.

    prophet yep the only lipped part is after the held strong sorta belt similar to always be my baby “IIIIIII wanna know” everything else is live. I just want mariah to get pregnant and come back in a few years when she has fully matured as a mother.

    I liked all of it, but I thought that big note was live!

    I’m actually not good at pointing out lip syncing on people like Mariah and Bey coz I just assume that they don’t do it. Their fans carry on so much and always attack people for like lip syncers like Britney, so I just assume that they never lip it…

    Regardless of if it was lip synced or not I loved it!

    Prophet…..Mariah has to lipsynch certain notes because she has VOCAL nodules….that’s why her voice is the way it is today(Her voice declined for a reason) Mariah has an excuse to lipsynch beyonce and britany(Espcially brit) don’t have a reason to lipsynch

    Only a few parts were actually lipped the – first chorus, the end of the 2nd chorus and the climatic belting – even the whistle.
    But the long wail out of the bridge was live…

    I think some was lipsynched…… U can tell the different qualities in the voice BUT It is still her voice.
    Altho I love the old Mariah this was good

    Watching Mariah now it sad. She sounds HORRIBLE! Like I would rather watch Rihanna and Cassie perform. And this is coming from a Mariah fan…i’m one of the few people who actually LOVE her latest album!

    It was dull for me. If the nodules are getting this bad, she should ditch the whistle notes and anything too strenuous. She could do them on VERY rare occasions. Her true fans will understand, plus they have enough whistles in her back catalogue.

    I creamed myself watching this performance as I always have with her performing this song. I don’t think she lipped the whistle because it was different than I had ever heard it before! It was rushed and shorter compared to the Oprah performance and the album track.

    she lip sync the end if you compare it
    to the Good morning America performance
    its the same and its okay in this video you can tell
    she having a hard time every singer lip sync nothing
    to be ashamed of lol imo
