Madonna’s MDNA flops with biggest second-week sales drop in history

Well, this is awkward.

After topping the Billboard 200 last week with her latest album MDNA, Madonna is on course to suffer the biggest second-week sales drop in history. According to Forbes, MDNA is set to shift “roughly” 46,000 copies second week, giving it somewhere around a record-breaking 88% drop in sales.

MDNA debut atop the Billboard 200 last week with 359k, but Madge cheated her way to No. 1 by including the album as part of a concert ticket bundle for her upcoming tour. Billboard report that about 185k of MDNA’s first-week sales total came from the ticket deal, making MDNA’s album sales about 179k without the extra help, which would’ve seen Lionel Ritchie debut at No. 1 with his new album Tuskegee, which sold 199k.

This whole cheat-first-week-then-suffer-a-sales-drop thing is so ironically Lady GaGa, isn’t it?

Anyway, with “Girl Gone Wild” not charting on the Hot 100 and interest already dwindling in MDNA, it doesn’t look like the album will be recovering any time soon. I’m sure Madonna doesn’t really care though — she’ll probably rake in about fifty billion dollars from her next tour, so that’ll soften the blow of yet another flop album.

They are consistent. Concert bundling has been allowed on Billboard for numerous years – no rules were changed for Madonna. Prince took advantage of this as far back as 2004.

Please define “flop”. Everyone’s definition of a flop is different. Some would say a top 10 hit is not a flop, some would. Also, I’m not a stan for Madonna or Gaga. I haven’t even mentioned Gaga. Are you upset because MDNA blocked Lionel Richie from the No.1 spot? Is he one of your faves? Is this why you are so upset about it all? My point was only that Prophet reported incorrect facts and you are going on about all of this as if what he said was true. It’s not. The concert bundling sales were legit – artists do it all the time, and the 88% drop has not been confirmed as yet, and there were 2 non-sale days (Easter) within the predicition time frame.

Okay Prophet made a mistake, he acknowledged it, as well all of the Madonna stans who have commented and reiterated it even though it’s already been stated enough times. People make mistakes, bloggers included. I wasn’t only responding to you, if you haven’t noticed you’re not the only one that responded to my comment. Other people responded, and I know they’re gaga haters that’s why I brought her up. They use every opportunity to call her a cheater or say that she’s a gimmick, so I was using her as an example. It has been reported on numerous websites that she’s expected to see an 88% drop in sales. So I guess billboard must be stating incorrect facts as well? I’m not even upset. I just found it funny how quickly all of these madonna stans became so hostile because prophet made a mistake, so don’t try and single me out for getting nasty. You continued to state your point even though it has already been stated clearly, and you did so in a manner that was pretentious and belittling so I responded appropriately. I thought the second half of my comment made my definition of Flop clear, but I’ll state again since that seems to be the thing people do around here. Give me all your luvin was a top 10 hit, but it had no longevity. It fell of the charts only a few weeks later. Madonna had no radio play for this era, no organic promotion, and now she’s seeing a huge drop in sales. For an artist of her caliber, I consider this a flop.

Quit fucking munching on GaGa’s horse dong and shut the hell up about how awesome GaGa is. There was nothing experimental or “creative as fuck” about Born This Way, and you trying to pass it off as so is sad because it means that you are either a.) a deluded stan who has had to make yourself believe that this ridiculous album is truly all the things you believe it to be or b.) you haven’t listened to much music and, like so many naive little monsters, believe GaGa to have done all of these “experimental” sounds first. GaGa does what basically every pop musician does who tries to make a bid for creativity: she has taken less popular sounds and brought them to the forefront, but don’t fool yourself into thinking she’s some sort of artsy pop bitch because she changes costumes and hair colors every fucking time she steps on live television. She’s a pop star, she makes pop music, and it has all been done before.

(And on a side note-Madonna did tons of shit that was risque and sexual for attention, and she did it better than your fave. Just sayin.’)

Well it should be noted that Gagas album still would of debut at #1 without the amazon deal. it still sold over 600K not counting those copies.

As For Madonna, well, shes old its hard to stay on top of the game. If making that option will make more people buy it why not? I would of done it
